Q&A from Cassandra

This is taken from an email that Cassie sent out to her Google Group *if you've not joined it yet, you're missing out* The google group has grown a lot lately and to help with all the questions she's getting she sent this out: *love the answer to number 7 and I hope Simon graces the cover of City Of Fallen Angels*

1) "Is there going to be a movie?"

The answer to that is lengthy and complicated. I'd just go here to
read the answer:

http://cassandraclare.com/cms/faqs#movie

2) What is City of Fallen Angels about? When will it be released?

City of Angels takes place after the events of City of Glass. It
splits its focus between Jace, Clary and the other Shadowhunters and
the story of Clary’s best friend, Simon, and how he adjusts to life as
a vampire; it’s still an ensemble-cast story, and all the characters
from the Mortal Instruments series appear in it: Isabelle, Alec,
Magnus, Luke, Jocelyn, Maia, and many more. (It even helps to have
read The Clockwork Angel before you read CoFA, because some of the
characters from the ID series do show up in it. However, it isn’t
required.) In City of Fallen Angels, someone’s killing the
Shadowhunters who used to be in Valentine’s Circle and leaving their
bodies around New York City in a manner designed to provoke hostility
between Downworlders and Shadowhunters. Internecine warfare among
vampires is ripping the Downworld community apart, and only Simon —
the Daylighter who everyone wants on their side — can decide the
outcome; too bad he wants nothing to do with Downworld politics.
Meanwhile Jace and Clary investigate a mystery that has deeply
personal consequences for them — consequences that may strengthen
their relationship, or rip it apart forever. Love, blood, betrayal and
revenge: the stakes are higher than ever in City of Fallen Angels.

City of Fallen Angels is set to be released in March, 2011.

3) What is The Clockwork Angel about? When will it be released?

The Infernal Devices is a series of prequels to The Mortal
Instruments, set in 19′th century London. It won’t have our current
characters in it, except for Magnus Bane, but it does deal with their
ancestors. You can find out more at:
http://www.theinfernaldevices.com/

16-year-old orphan Tessa Gray’s quiet life is thrown into turmoil when
her older brother Nathaniel suddenly vanishes, leaving her alone. Her
search for him leads her into Victorian-era London’s dangerous
supernatural underworld, where warlocks throw masked balls for
half-demon Downworlders. When Tessa discovers that she herself is a
Downworlder, she must come to trust her natural enemies, the
demon-killing Shadowhunters, if she ever wants to learn to control her
powers and find her brother. Torn between the beautiful Will, a
Shadowhunter who isn’t what he seems, and the devoted Jem, whose own
deadly secret is slowly destroying him, Tessa must draw on all her
strength to save her brother and keep herself alive in this deadly new
world.

There are three books in the Devices series. The first is The
Clockwork Angel, the second, The Clockwork Prince, the third, The
Clockwork Princess.

The Clockwork Angel will be released September 7, 2010.

4) Does that mean the Clockwork Angel will be released before City of
Fallen Angels?

Yes. The publishing schedule is as follows:

September 7, 2010: The Clockwork Angel

March 11, 2011: City of Fallen Angels

September 2011: The Clockwork Princess

5) Are you going to write a book in which Jace and Clary get married?

No.

6) Are you going to re-write the Mortal Instruments series from Jace’s
viewpoint?

No.

7) Are there going to be more Mortal Instruments books after City of
Fallen Angels?

Maybe. :D

8) Which characters are on the covers of the Mortal Instruments books?

City of Bones: Jace

City of Ashes: Clary

City of Glass: Sebastian

City of Fallen Angels: Don’t know yet!
