Twitter Tuesday - Jaclyn Dolamore

So, it's Twitter Tuesday and so many book birthdays are being celebrated today - Bree Despain's The Dark Divine and Lindsay Eland's Scones & Sensibilty to name just two.

But in my shipment with those two books, I also ordered Jaclyn Dolamore's Magic Under Glass.

The reason for adding it to my order was not just to insure Free Shipping but - it was a tweet similar to this one, only about a month ago.

Maggie Stiefvater's recommendations are solid, so I checked it out.

Here's the synopsis -

Nimira is a foreign music-hall girl forced to dance for mere pennies. When wealthy sorcerer Hollin Parry hires her to sing with a piano-playing automaton, Nimira believes it is the start of a new and better life. In Parry's world, however, buried secrets are beginning to stir. Unsettling below-stairs rumors swirl about ghosts, a madwoman roaming the halls, and Parry's involvement with a league of sorcerers who torture fairies for sport. Then Nimira discovers the spirit of a fairy gentleman named Erris is trapped inside the clockwork automaton, waiting for someone to break his curse. The two fall into a love that seems hopeless, and breaking the curse becomes a race against time, as not just their love, but the fate of the entire magical world may be in peril.

And then I read these reviews -

Libba Bray’s Gemma Doyle meets Sally Gardner’s The Red Necklace, with a hint of Jane Eyre thrown in for good measure, in this vivid and rousing debut.”—Kirkus Reviews

"Debut author Dolamore draws heavily on Jane Eyre and its themes of sexual and class prejudice for her plot, reshaping the source material with skill."—Publishers Weekly

“Magic Under Glass is a stunning blend of paranormal intrigue, doomed love, secrets in the attic, and a clockwork man with a hidden past. Jaclyn Dolamore expertly captures the essence of the perfect gothic romance on every page."—Carrie Ryan, author, The Forest of Hands And Teeth

“...The result is a whimsical, smart novel that is sort of like a cross between Howl’s Moving Castle and Jonathan Strange and Mister Norrell.”—Maggie Stiefvater, author, Shiver

I think you can see what made me add that to my Shopping Cart?? I can hardly wait for the UPS delivery tomorrow or please, by December 24th?? Hope you all pick it up at as well. And happy book birthdays to all!
