Jekel love Hyde Blog Tour and Giveaway

We were very excited to be apart of the Jekel Loves Hyde blog tour, hosted by Page Turners. I've read Jekel Loves Hyde and really enjoyed. Beth has done a fantastic job with the story, adding a modern day spin to it. Here's what the story is about:

Jill Jekel has always obeyed her parents’ rules—especially the one about never opening the mysterious, old box in her father’s office. But when her dad is murdered, and her college savings disappear, she’s tempted to peek inside, as the contents might be the key to a lucrative chemistry scholarship.

To improve her odds, Jill enlists the help of gorgeous, brooding Tristen Hyde, who has his own dark secrets locked away. As the team of Jekel and Hyde, they recreate experiments based on the classic novel, hoping not only to win a prize, but to save Tristen’s sanity. Maybe his life. But Jill’s accidental taste of a formula unleashes her darkest nature and compels her to risk everything—even Tristen’s love—just for the thrill of being . . . bad.

Character Bio-Jill Jekel:
Jill is shy and studious – qualities that mask an inner strength and courage that compel her help save Tristen Hyde from a “beast” he fears is taking over his soul. But when Jill unleashes her own dangerous side in a chemistry lab, she will have to choose between doing good and being very bad – a temptation she might not want to withstand.

Interview with Beth:

Do you have a writer's group that you work with

No, I just work alone – although my husband is a wonderful, and very honest, critic, so I like to get his opinion. It’s not that I wouldn’t value the opinions of other writers, but I’m afraid I might get input overload!

What kind of research did you do to make Jekel Loves Hyde so believable?

I re-read the original novel, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, which set the mood for my story and led to some plot elements in my book, too. Then I also brushed up on my chemistry, both on the Internet and in textbooks, because I needed to see what types of concepts advanced students like Jill and Tristen would be dealing with. Last but not least, I am not a musician, so I consulted with a music professor about composition and classical music. It was a fun book to research, and I felt like I learned a lot as I wrote.

Both Jekel Loves Hyde and Jessica’s Guide to Dating on the Dark Side are dark and show the demons that live within your characters. Do you ever have to hold back on some of the darkness and how do you find that right balance between the light and dark in your characters?

It’s definitely challenging to strike the light-dark balance, especially with my male characters, vampire Lucius and potential monster Tristen. There are points in both books where the guys nearly spin out of control. But I try to counter that by showing how they’re fighting the temptation to be completely wicked. They also both have protective, chivalrous sides, which hopefully helps to serve as a counterweight against their worst tendencies.
