We're chatting with author Lisa Schroeder TONIGHT!!

A lucky blog follower/chat goer will WIN a copy of Chasing Brooklyn, thank you to Simon and Schuster!! The Winners name will be posted on our blog tomorrow morning.

While you are eagerly awaiting our chat tonight, please be sure to read Lisa's post here:

Here's a sample of her amazing post!!
All three of my YA novels have some romance in them. Not a ton. But some. And not the rip-your-clothes-off-and-fall-into-bed kind of romance. The kind where it's the little moments that show you the love between the two characters. I especially love this scene from FAR FROM YOU (out now in paperback, by the way!).
autumn perfection
Outside
the air was cool
and crisp,
the way you want your sheets
when it's blistering
hot.

We walked to the park
and ran through the leaves,
picking them up
and throwing them at each other,
as if they were snowballs.

Instead of loud splats,
we got quiet flutters
of crimson and amber.

He pulled me to him,
spun me around,
and we fell
into a bed of foliage
fit for a king.

I wanted to freeze
the moment in my mind
forever,
because there's nothing better
than flutters
of the heart.
That definitely leaves us wanting to go re-read Far From You right now!

Some Fun Links From Sarah Rees Brennan and Carrie Ryan

I feel like it's Valentine's Day already because we've had some treats from two of our favorite authors.

Sarah Rees Brennan has a contest on her blog going on right now and here's one of the hysterical entries. There are some spoilers for Demon's Lexicon -

And she posted a February Cookie from Demon's Covenant as well -
Liannan turned away from them.

“I’ve always wanted to do this,” she remarked. “Summon one of you. Make you see what it’s like. I call on the one the Goblin Market calls a traitor. I call on the liar, the demon lover, the murderer. I call on Alan Ryves!”

Alan stepped out of the shadows of ruins and into the moonlight, limping across the night-gray grass to the circles where magic fires were blazing. There was a sudden hiss rising all around the Market, like a nest of snakes waking and uncoiling, ready to strike.

The demon smiled and beckoned Alan on.

“I do hope you won’t think I was being too harsh,” Liannan murmured.

“No,” said Alan. “It was just the truth.”

“It always is,” Liannan told him. “And people always hate hearing it.”

She was standing at the very edge of the place where the circles joined, magic glowing palely at her feet. Alan stopped about an inch away from her, still standing on shadowed grass.
You can read the rest on Sarah's blog here.

Carrie Ryan just posted how you can get your own personalized copy of the Dead Tossed Waves or an autographed bookplate on her blog. Also a reminder that The Forest of Hands and Teeth was released in paperback this week and that it contains the first chapter of The Dead Tossed Waves, so be sure to check out your favorite bookstore.

Thoughtful Thursday- Bess The Book Bus

Yesterday Lisa McMann had tweet about this amazing organization that travels around the country bringing books to under privileged children. If she hadn't tweeted about it, I would have never known about this amazing charity!

Bess, The Book Bus was founded by Jennifer Frances in 2004, in honor of her Nana, Bess O'Keefe, who taught her the joy of reading. It's that joy that Bess The Book Bus takes to children who aren't privileged to have books.

Bess the Book Bus is dedicated to reading to children, promoting literacy, and getting books in to the homes of underprivileged children and families in the Tampa area. While our offices are located in South Tampa, the program itself is mobile. This year we have increased our services to include twenty-five Head Start programs, ten summer programs, The Spring, Metropolitan Ministries, Redland Christian Migrant Association, and an after school program. We also support three school libraries that do not have enough books to serve their population. -http://www.bessthebookbus.org/about.php

Some of us are mothers and couldn't imagine not having books for Children. Books allow children to escape into the wonderful world of their imaginations and help them dream and learn. This charity is near and dear to our hearts now, as it brings the gift of joy to children who are in need.

The Dallas Examiner had a great article about them and a way to help support Bess, here-

Pepsi is giving away $1,3000,000 each month to fund great ideas. Bess the Book Bus is in the running for $50,000. Click on this link to vote. Their mission is to build lifelong readers nationwideand to build home libraries that bridge the enrichment gap created by poverty.

The bus drives 11,000 miles and delivers 11,000 new books to children across the United States.Scheduled Stops from California to Rhode Island are listed. You can read more about the article here-- http://tinyurl.com/yj6ok9a

Hunger Games Series News from Scholastic!

This is so exciting. Scholastic has unveiled the cover in the third book in The Hunger Games series.
Scholastic shares 5 things with The Hunger Games fans that will be in the book:
(We LOVE their sense of humor!)
  • Panem is not shaken up when District 9 is nominated for a best picture Oscar.
  • At no point does President Snow utter the line, “This is Snowmageddon, baby.”
  • Despite internet rumors to the contrary, it is not revealed that Cinna has been secretly designing outfits for a Capitol operative known as “Lady GaGa.”
  • All rumors of a crossover appearance by Geronimo Stilton are false.
  • In a tough editorial call, we decided not to have Katniss win the Hunger Games…only to be interrupted by Kanye West.
  • You can visit Scholastic here for more information-
Don't forget to pre-order it! It will be out August 24th, 2010

What's your favorite cover from the series?
