Our Perfect Picks for Valentine's Day

Here are our picks for best Valentine's Reads. Believe me, it was hard picking one. How do you choose between Jace, and Patch?!? There's so many great stories filled with romance and chemistry between some amazing characters.
After much thought, here's the list of books we've come up with.

Katieb's Pick:
Since I can't pick just one, I'm picking three. Yes, I know. I'm sorry, but I love stories about Fallen Angels and all three of these books have that and more. They are my perfect picks for Valentine's Day reading.

City Of Glass- My favorite book in the MI series. Full of suspense, action, love, and of course Jace's snark and Magnus' humor. There's nothing I didn't love about COG. The epic "last" battle scene is amazing, as is the scenes between Jace and Clary. It's not just Jace and Clary that has won me over with CoG, but all the characters involved. Believe me, you don't want to miss some of the scenes between Jace and Clary. You'll definitely be re-reading some of their scenes.

Hush, Hush-Fallen Angel falls for mortal girl, a forbidden love ensues, and both must face the danger that has been following Nora. Be rest assured this book has a lot of great chemistry between Patch and Nora.

Fallen-Brillantly written ultimate love story, mixed with fallen angels, and the classic battle of good vs evil. Drawn to Daniel by an undeniable connection, but lured by Cam, who will Luce choose between? There's something more to these guys then the mets the eye. Luce can't shake the feeling that she knows Daniel from some where before.

Chairman Meow's Pick:
Shiver by Maggie Steifvater is probably just about the best
inter-species love story around. Set in snow and ice, Shiver is about
Sam and Grace who must fight time and weather in order to squeeze in
every moment they can. Why must they fight time? You're gonna have to
read to find out! This is one of the sweetest, most romantic books I have ever read and one of the very, very few books that has made me cry. Beautiful and
the sequel, just as delicious!

KatarinasMama's Pick:
Truly all the ingredients for a good story are there - a mysterious boy, a near death accident and a protagonist who cannot help but wonder about this boy's past history. I call this my Guilty Pleasure Book. It doesn't move literary mountains but it satisfies a need for a quick read with a storyline full of curiosity and yearning. I also love the way Laurie uses the anti-hero's "talent". I'm trying to keep this very non-spoilerish. But I have to say, for those who love impossible love, try this series out. The sequel, Deadly Little Lies, was released in December 2009.

LovesSam's Pick:
I have never read a book that was written in verse before, in fact i've never actually come across a book like this. But, I love this writing style, it manages to stay fast paced, keeping you hooked. I read it in one sitting, like an emotional rollercoaster, at first it scared me a little, then I just sat back and enjoyed the journey. This book was amazing, and thats partly due to the writing style Lisa uses, because it manages to be emotional, touching and hard to forget.

The style of writing draws attention to the vivid imagery used and the depth of the emotion the characters are feeling. It has an authentic pitch perfect teenage voice, really expressing how young people deal with grief, and that everyone who is going through a tragedy feels alone at one point or another. How to not let grief and fear overcome you, but to embrace it, to help you heal and move on. How when things look bleak and every day is another day without the person you love, that you can get through it, that there is light at the end of the tunnel, even if it's not the tunnel you planned on walking down.

I loved how even though the grief the characters were suffering was prominent in the novel, but wasn't at the forefront of my mind. I really connected for the characters, and sympathised for them, even cried at the way their lives had been irrevocably altered in just one night. This is a heart felt story about love lost, love found, friendship and healing. One of those books you would be silly not to read. If I could afford to b
uy everyone who loves to read, this book, I really would.

Pixie's Pick:
Great debut from Elizabeth Eulberg, this was a fantastic story. This is such a lollipop cute, funny, easy going read. I didn't plan on reading this book so soon, but I needed a teaser the other day and didn't want to use the ARC I was currently reading just yet. So I grabbed LHC and read a few pages, and found one, except I had one small problem - I could not stop reading the book, I finished it in one sitting. I can’t wait until I can find this on audio for my daughter; this is definitely a book I want her to read.

When Penny has her heart broken by her "dream" guy- she decided she is through with boys. During some Beatles therapy she decides to start The Lonely Hearts Club. This basically means she won’t date while in High School. Soon she has a houseful of members, with a bunch of boys at school who are not happy with the LHC.

The group soon realizes they cant "not date" because not all men are scum. With a slight change in the rules the girls go from a non dating club to a support your friends girl power club- just in time, since it seems like that "perfect guy" is right under Penny's nose.

Heather's Pick:
WOW. Is all I can say...

I picked up this book at my local library and started it earlier today. The entire book is written in prose. Each chapter a new poem. For me, it was a nice break from the every day writing style we are used to. I finished it in a couple of hours because I couln't put it down.

WOW. Is all I can say...

I picked up this book at my local library and started it earlier today. The entire book is written in prose. Each chapter a new poem. For me, it was a nice break from the every day writing style we are used to. I finished it in a couple of hours because I couln't put it down.
Alice deals with the grief over losing her mother to cancer, adjustment to a new family dynamic, doubts of faith, and near tragedy. It is a beautifully rich yet down to earth and raw look at what it feels like to lose someone and have them replaced by new and strange people. I think it is a great read for any teen who has gone through trying to adjust to a new step-parent, or the loss of a parent. Alice also struggles with the question of abstinence and it is handled by her boyfriend Blaze in a mature and loving manner. I love that she held on to that belief and was supported in her decision.
The story touched at heart strings as Alice feels enveloped in a comfort and peace that is not of this world. She feels her life has been touched by an angel in the moments she struggles to save the life of her newborn half-sister. I was brought to tears by the encompassing process of healing and hope.
An absolute Gem
