Author Interview with Elizabeth Scott

Today our Q&A is with the talented Elizabeth Scott, who's book include: Bloom, Living Dead Girl, Something Maybe, Stealing Heaven, Love you Hate you Miss you, Perfect You and her latest book, The Unwritten Rule will be released NEXT Tuesday, March 16 by Simon Pulse.

What inspired you to start writing?
I actually didn't always want to be a writer. In fact, when I was in school, just hearing the words "creative writing assignment" made me twitchy, and in college I went out of my way to avoid all English classes where I knew I'd be expected to write something fictional.

It wasn't until I was 27 (!) and bored out of my mind in a meeting a work that I started writing fiction. And that meeting was where I wrote my very first short story! (And it was also where I realized hey, writing can be fun! In fact, it's kind of awesome!)

I wrote short stories for about five years, and then, on a dare from a friend, wrote my first novel, Bloom.

Which characters have you enjoyed writing the most and why?
That's a great question! I always learn something I didn't know about all of my characters as I'm writing them *but* having said that, I never read my books after they come out (I have a really hard time reading my own writing) and so the characters I enjoy writing the most are the ones in whatever it is I'm working on at the moment.

Does that make any sense at all? :-)

What is one thing you want readers to take away from your books?
I hope they enjoy the book!

How do you bring such realism and rich emotions out in your books?
Wow, now I'm blushing--thank you! I just write what feels real and right to me for the story and the characters. That and I want to always be honest in my writing--even if what comes out is hard for me to write.

Do you have any works in progress?
I do! My next novel, Grace, will be out on September 16th. It's about a girl who has been raised to be a female suicide bomber, and what happens when she decides she doesn't want to die...

Thank you Elizabeth for taking the time to visit with us! To find out more about Elizabeth's book, please visit her website here: http://www.elizabethwrites.com

Twitter Tuesday - Cassie Clare & Melissa Marr

Sifting through tweets yesterday, I noticed Cassie's right away and thought, hmm, Shadow World, a Role Play Group. And yes, I laughed at the thought of someone shipping Jace/Seth.

Seriously, can you even begin to picture that dialogue?? Yeah. See, you're with me now. It would be very, very snarky and oh-so-good.

Then these tweets appeared, and I literally choked on my soda.

Okay, we would so read that, wouldn't we Mundie Moms? I see all the slightly opened mouths and nodding heads. Yes, yes, we would. It's not going to happen but for the record, Cassie and Melissa, we would be there for you...just sayin'...if the mood ever strikes you.
