Fallen Archangel's YA Chat TONIGHT!!

It’s no secret that YA books have grown in popularity with teens, tweens and adults of all ages. With that popularity comes more scrutiny – it has been said that some YA contains immoral themes that could negatively influence young readers. We want to hear from YOU young and old, YA Lovers, Readers, Writers, Editors (etc). Are you influenced by the storylines and relationships you read about? Join us on Thursday night at 9 pm to discuss this on FallenArchangel.com (taken from http://fallenarchangelnews.blogspot.com/)

I am so bummed I will not be able to join this chat tonight. This is something that I feel strongly about, as I started Mundie Moms for a place for fans of Cassie's book and YA books to come and discuss them. To me, YA books aren't just for teens. They are for teen and adults alike.

The great thing about YA books, is they can have two completely different messages and meanings for teens and adults. As adults, we can read these great books and remember what it felt like falling in love for the first or dealing w/ the normal problems we all face growing up. For teens, they are dealing w/ these emotions or topics now.

BUT, we're not reading books that are dealing with what it was like growing up when we did. Many of the YA books being released now deal with harsher topics, as in reality, teens now are dealing with a lot more stuff than we did. That's not saying all of us are old or anything (coughs), but times are tougher and so are many of the choices and things teens are facing now.

Make sure you let your voice be heard tonight. YA is getting a bad rap and it shouldn't be. Sometimes YA books are the only strong hold that some teens have in facing their struggles and breaking through on their own.

Cassandra Clare's Clockwork Angel Cover Reveal and ARC Giveaway

Cassie announced today on her site and twitter that next week MARCH 18, she will be revealing the amazing cover of the Clockwork Angel on EW AND they'll be having an ARC giveaway!! Here's what she said- be sure to visit her site here http://cassandraclare.livejournal.com/36011.html

For authors, getting the cover of your book in your inbox is one of the most exciting and terrifying parts of the process — authors don't decide what their cover looks like, so it's sort of the equivalent of being assigned your brand new house by lottery — someone just dumps you in a car, drives you around for a while, and finally comes to a stop in front of a house: "Here's where you'll be living for the next six to ten years! Hope you like it!"

Fortunately I have been lucky with covers so far and liked them all. By far my favorite though is the beautiful cover for Clockwork Angel, which I am very much looking forward to showing you all . . .

Next week! On March 18th at 10:00am,
Entertainment Weekly will be revealing the Clockwork Angel cover reveal at http://shelf-life.ew.com/ At that same link, you will also find a link to a Clockwork Angel sweepstakes giveway: 25 winners will receive a signed ARC of Clockwork Angel months before the book's actual release date!

I don't know about you guys, but we're dying to see the cover!! We can't wait.

Thoughtful Thursday

Let me start off with saying that I started Thoughtful Thursday to help spotlight the many wonderful organizations around the world who help enrich the lives worldwide, who need it most. I will not post spam or post misleading information about these charities, nor will we post information about companies who take $ to donate to charities. Today is a little different. While we're spotlighting three organizations, we're also mentioning what one company does to help support these three amazing organizations.

Today's Thoughtful Thursday is HotelsCombined.com. What is Hotelscombined.com? They are a search engine that searches over 900,000 hotel deals worldwide for the best price possible. They say they are always looking for ethical and environmentally friendly ways of doing business. In proving their environmentally friendly ways, they ask people to spread the word of their site and in turn donate to charities of your choice. Before you ask, why would you choose a hotel, here's the amazing thing they do. Hotelscombined.com has already Donated over $9,000 to charities around the world like World Wildlife Fund, Make A Wish and World Vision just by having supporters do three *FREE* things.

By becoming a fan of HotelsCombined.com on Facebook, they will donate $5 to the charity of your choice.
By following them on Twitter, they will donate $10 to the charity of your choice.
By mentioning them on your blog or website, they will donate $20 to the charity of your choice.

Once you do one of the three things above, you can send them an email to charity@hotelscombined.com, letting them know what you did and where you'd like the donation to be made to. We know that many of us are looking for ways to help those around us and while the economy is making things tight for many of us, this is a great opportunity to do something.

*World Wildlife Fund- the global conservation charity dedicated to stopping the degradation of the planet's natural environment and building a future in which humans live in harmony with nature.

*World Vision- Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families, and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice.

*Make A Wish Foundation- Granting the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.

You can visit them here http://www.hotelscombined.com/Charity.aspx to get more information and see how much they have donated to these great charities.
