Author Appreciation Week-Thank Goodness for Fairies

To finish our Author Appreciation Week, we want to thank Sea author, Heidi Kling, for giving us the opportunity to pay tribute to authors who have inspired us through their various worlds and wonderful writings. While we have so many authors who's books we love to read again, and again, it was fun picking a few who have allowed us to escape into their imaginative worlds for just a bit. Thank goodness for the world of Fairies.

JM Barrie- Probably one of the most popular worlds we as children loved to read about, and as adult share with our children, is Peter Pan. Peter Pan brought to life the world of fairies for many of us. Who wouldn't want to go fly through the sky, and fight off Captain Hook beside Peter Pan and Tinkerbell. For decades, JM Barrie has given children a story and allowed their imaginations to sore as they look into the night sky, looking for the second star to the right to guide them to Never Never Land.

Melissa Marr- As an adult, Melissa's Wicked Lovely series reminded me why I loved fairies. Her series allowed me to step back into the fairy world, but only this time, in a darker, modern day setting. Torn between some very memorable characters, I have a hard time deciding who's my favorite. Radiant Shadows, the next in the Wicked Lovely series, will be released April 20, 2010. Be sure to add this 5 star book to your Melissa Marr collection.

Aprilynne Pike- One of the best love triangles I've read in a long time comes from Wings. Laurel's torn between her human world and David and her longing for Tamani and the fairy world she used to be apart of. As a reader, how do you pick between the undeniable connection that Tamani and Laurel have, and the first love that Laurel and David share. Spells, takes us further into Tamani and Laurel's fairy world of Avalon. Be sure to pick up your copy of Spells, which will be released on May 4th

Maggie Stiefvater- Who didn't fall for the hot fairy killer, Luke in Lament. Maggie sucked us right into her amazing fairy world, making us fall in love with the tragic love story between the Fairy Assassin, Luke who was sent to kill the cloverhand, Dee. We were so caught up in their love story, that Maggie threw us for a loop when someone pays the ultimate sacrifice for love. Maggie's fairy world is continued in Ballad and we're looking for the next book in her series to be released.

Julie Kagawa- Julie takes the classic fairly lore and introduces a new fairy kingdom in The Iron King. Who doesn't love reading about Puck from Mid Summer's Night Dream and meeting the dashing fairy Prince Ash. The pairing of the heroine, Megan and her best friend Robbie aka Puck, find themselves in the middle of a dark plot amongst the fairy world. They team up with a fairy enemy, Prince Ash, to battle a bigger threat to both their kingdoms. We held our breathe as Megan sacrifices herself for the ones she loves and gives herself over to Ash, who was sent to kill her. We can't wait to read what happens next with Ash, Megan and Puck in The Iron Daughter, out August 2010.
