Autism Awareness Challenge

Our friends over at Page Turners are hosting a wonderful challenge for the month of April, to help bring awareness to Autism. Having worked with kids with Autism, and having friends who have Autistic children, I felt this was something that was important for us to be apart of, aside from supporting Page Turners.

Here's how the challenges works-

Starting April 1st 2010
  1. Copy and past their ASD button into your sidebar (located in the sidebar)*you will find the code located on their site*
  2. Read and Review a book or multiple books dealing with ASD or learning disabilities.
  3. Link your reviews in their comment box
Very easy! At the end of April they will put all the participants into random.org and pick a winner.

There are a lot of great books to choose from that they have posted to help give you an idea.
To join or read more about the challenge, please visit their site here: http://tinyurl.com/yhqzfom

Waiting on Wednesday-Inside Out by Maria V Snyder

This weekly event is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Published by Harlequin Teen
To Be Released on April 1, 2010

"Imagine every space in this room filled with people. Constantly being jostled and pushed. In the lower levels there is no quiet place. No peace. To a scrub this room is paradise."

I drew a deep breathe. Id' spoken more in one burst to this stranger whose room I'd invaded than anyone else in weeks. And with a single word he could alert the Pop Cops and send me to the Chomper. We stared at each other for a few heart beats.

Before I could retreat he said, "My name's Riley Narelle Ashon. Any time you need a peace, you're welcome to use my room."

I'm Trella. I'm a scrub. A nobody. One of thousands who work the lower levels, keeping Inside clean for the Uppers. I've got one friend, do my job and try to avoid the Pop Cops. So what if I occasionally use the pipes to sneak around the Upper levels? The only neck at risk is my own...until I accidentally start a rebellion and become the go-to girl to lead a revolution. (taken from the cover)

I'm not a dystopian fan, yet every time I read a dystopian book I love it. Inside Out falls into this category. I think most Maria Snyder fans will love her latest *soon to be* release, and those who haven't read any of Maria's books will fall in love with her writing. This is definitely one book we really enjoyed reading and you see our review here-http://mundiemoms.blogspot.com/2010/03/book-review-inside-out-by-maria-v.html. We will be chatting with Maria next month, on the 13th and we'll also be giving away our ARC to Inside Out. Stay tuned to the blog in April for more information on our giveaway.
