2 stars- It was an OK read.

Love is a werewolf, influenced by the moon and terror, and always about to change.

Something terrifying happened to Liv when was thirteen. Something that changed everything, that made her...different. Now the only time she truly feels like herself is when she's with her boyfriend Corey, and in the woods that surround her town. But danger lurks in the woods, too-and secrets Liv cannot being to imagine. (taken from the ARC's back cover)

The Frenzy is told from 17 yr old Liv point of view, and starts off with her looking back to when she was 13 years old when the "transformation" first happened. She always felt a little different but when her mother comes home from a hunting trip with a dead wolf in the back of her truck, it sets Liv off and she has no idea what's happening. Liv has never felt more alone that she did then.

Now 17, she has her boyfriend Corey and her best friend Pace. Pace is someone she's confided in. They both share their secrets and have been there for each other when no one has. When Pace is found dead, who can Liv turn to? How do you tell your boyfriend you're a werewolf? That's only part of Liv's problem. Dark family secrets, a pack of wolves and an ancient curse will make Liv question everything she's ever known about herself, her family and the town she's grown up in.

Liv has no one she can turn to talk about her werewolf problems, but when the pack comes to her, she can either give in and accept their ways, she can fight it and try and keep a normal life with Corey. The pack has their own secrets and are tied to Liv in more ways than one. There's something about their leader Victor that draws Liv in, but if she does, she might lose Corey forever.

Being a huge wolf girl fan, I was really looking forward to reading a different take on werewolves. I think Francesca's spin on wolves was fascinating. I didn't feel a connection to the story and characters like I had hoped, or like I wanted to. I felt the plot kept jumping around, which made me feel the story was a little choppy. I really wanted to get to know more about the bigger characters like Victor, the leader of the wolf pack, Corey and Pace. Having said that, if there's a sequel, I'm definitely going to read it. I've learned that just because I don't connect to the first book in a series, doesn't mean I won't love the next book. There's more I'd like to find out about the story and characters. The Frenzy is a quick read and one I think Francesca's fans will like. This is a YA book, and does have some maturer YA content in it.
