Book Summary (from goodreads.com):
He's looking at me like—well, like he wants to look at me.
Like he likes what hes sees, and he's smiling and hiw eyes are so blue, even in the faint flow of the porch light they shine, and I nod dumbly, blindly, and then grope for the door handle, telling myself to look away and yet not able to do it.
"Sara," he says, softly, almost hesitantly, and my heart slam-bangs, beating hard, and this is what it's like to want someone you can't have. To want someone you shouldn't even be looking at.

Shadow Hills
Published by Egmont USA
Released July 13th, 2010
Summary: After her sister Athena's tragic death, it's obvious that grief-stricken Persephone "Phe" Archer no longer belongs in Los Angeles. Hoping to make sense of her sister's sudden demise and the cryptic dreams following it, Phe abandons her bubbly LA life to attend an uptight East Coast preparatory school in Shadow Hills, MA — a school which her sister mysteriously mentioned in her last diary entry before she died.

Once there, Phe quickly realizes that something is deeply amiss in her new town. Not only does Shadow Hills' history boast an unexplained epidemic that decimated hundreds of its citizens in the 1700s, but its modern townies also seem eerily psychic, with the bizarre ability to bend metal. Even Zach — the gorgeous stranger Phe meets and immediately begins to lust after — seems as if he is hiding something serious. Phe is determined to get to the bottom of it. The longer she stays there, the more she suspects that her sister's untimely death and her own destiny are intricately linked to those who reside in Shadow Hills.

Publisher: Penguin
Release Date: September 21, 2010

Book Summary (from Penguin): Mackie Doyle is not one of us. He is a Replacement—left in the crib of a human baby sixteen years ago. Now, because of fatal allergies to iron, blood, and consecrated ground, Mackie is fighting to survive in the human world.
Mackie would give anything to live among us, to practice on his bass or spend time with his crush, Tate. But when Tate's baby sister goes missing, Mackie is drawn irrevocably into the underworld of Gentry, known as Mayhem. He must face the dark creatures of the Slag Heaps and find his rightful place, in our world, or theirs.
Edward Scissorhands meets The Catcher in the Rye in this wildly imaginative and frighteningly beautiful horror novel about an unusual boy and his search for a place to belong.

BIR2010- Day 5 Author Interview & Giveaway With Author Shannon Delany

It's now Day 5 of our BIR celebrations and while the celebrations will continue through the 14th on the other participating blogs, today is our last day to be apart of the BIR 2010. We're ending a little early as we've got some fun giveaways planned for next week for part of our Mundie Moms 2010 Favorite Reads. All our links our under our giveaway section in our right hand side bar.

If you're just joining our celebrations, here's a little history about it: We, along with 8 other bloggers have come together to collectively bring you our favorite reads for 2010. Each blog came up with a small list of their favorites and every blog will be featuring the list. We, along with the other bloggers will be featuring BIG giveaways, I'm talking more than 30 books, along with author interviews. All giveaways are open to residents of the US only, unless other wise noted. If you are an International follower and have someone in the US we can send your winnings to, please feel free to enter. All giveaways will end on December 15th. All winners will be announced on Monday December 20th. This is to ensure that we don't have winners winning the same books on the other participating blogs. **Publishers will be mailing out most of the winnings and with Christmas and the holiday rush, books may not be received until after the first of the year.

Thank you to all the wonderful publishers and authors who have allowed us to host such wonderful giveaways!

We are excited to have Shannon with us on our blog today!.

With all the fantastic new releases this year, what new release has become your guilty pleasure?

I loved hush, hush by Becca Fitzpatrick. Patch was a great bad boy.

If you were able to add in a favorite literary character to your book, who would you pick and why?

I'd bring Huck Finn in, update him and send he and Max off on some adventures together. I'm sure that make for lots of trouble.

What inspired to become a writer?

I was inspired to be a writer by an excellent teacher, a supportive mother and a creative father (although the latter two wanted me to be a teacher so I had a dependable income ;).

As a teen, if you were friends with one of your characters, who would it be and why?

I would have argued philosophy and ethics with Pietr (as good friends do) but I would have completely kicked back with Max--if I'd had the courage to approach him.

If you could have a paranormal power, would it be or what would you want to be (ie. shadowhunter, werewolf etc)

Ohhh. Being a shadowhunter would be a great temptation--I love Cassie Clare's books! But I think I'd be happy as a werewolf. I'd be able to have the best of two distinct worlds and potentially blend into both.

Thank you Shannon for being with us today! I have to say, I'm with you on being torn between a Shadow Hunter and a Werewolf.

Today's giveaway is for a LIMITED EDITION signed chapter book of the SECOND book in this series, Secrets and Shadows, which is due out February 15, 2011. ** This is open to residents of the US only. Don't worry, next week we've got some great International giveaways coming up and current International giveaways going on right now for BIR.

Thank you to Shannon for being with us today and for the wonderful giveaway!

Exciting TMI Movie News!!

Cassie shared with everyone tonight that Clary has been CAST!!!!! Here's what Cassie says,
"Just dropping an entry to announce that, as reported by Deadline, Lily Collins, who starred in The Blind Side and the upcoming Priest**, has been cast to play Clary in the movie adaptation of City of Bones. The producers and director have worked with her before and say great things, and I have to admit right now I haven't seen The Blind Side but am obviously going to go out and watch it NOW.

She is completely adorable and looks right for Clary to me:

And now, of course, as this article notes, presumably the speculation about who plays Jace will begin in earnest . . ."

No, Cassie has no say in who is cast to play her characters. We are very excited and think Lilly looks like a great Clary!
