The Dark Artifices

It's been quite a news day in Mundie Moms' Land (don't try to picture what that would look like, but start with a multi-level bookstore and cafe and you'll be close) and there's one more tweet from Cassie that I'd like to share with all of you:

"Do you plan on writing anymore books on Shadowhunters other than TMI & ID series?"   I have a plan for another Shadowhunter trilogy (contemporary, but not about the characters from TMI). Working title: The Dark Artifices. It takes place five years after the end of TMI and deals with the Shadowhunters of the Los Angeles Institute.

I have many other idea for other books that do not take place in the Shadowhunter world, including a high fantasy series and a contemporary updated Jane Austen comedy. It just is a matter of what I write first.
This is such good news, isn't it?? What will the L.A. Institute Shadowhunters be like, I wonder?

  2. I love The Mortal Instruments. I love The Infernal Devices. I really, really do. But don't you think three different series on the same topic is a little much? TMI and ID I understand. They're in two completely different time periods, and they have characters and events that help you understand the other series. But the LA books may end up with a hot, disturbed, sarcastic guy who's just like our Jace (or Will). And I love Jace and Will. I don't want another. It just wouldn't be new anymore. I'd probably still laugh, and fall in love with him, but it wouldn't be surprising. Even those two (Jace and Will) are very similar. Well, I guess they are distantly related...

I still really, really love Cassie and her books- they're amazing. End of story. I could be wrong. This new series could be completely original and brilliant like TMI and ID. I'm just not so sure about another series, when Cassie has the potential to write so much more. That Jane Austen comedy? I would love one!

  3. Larissa - Isn't it wonderful news.

Lucia - I agree that it may be tricky, but Cassie's world is so vast that I am confident she'll pull it off. As for the Jane Austen-themed contemporary?? I am squee-ing at the mere thought. Yes, I am.

  5. This is very exciting news!!!

Lucia- I totally understand what you're saying, but I think with the talent Cassie has in her writing and world building, that she can create something completely separate than the TMI world we're use to and make us love it just the same. I hope that makes sense.

I can't wait for the Jane Austen comedy!

  7. This is awesome!! You know there are just some authors that you will read anything they put out, and Cassie is certainly one of them. For me, the most fascinating thing about Cassie's books is her ability at story weaving. I love (now that I've re-read them all), how she drops bits and pieces of info throughout all her books, then revisits or explains them in future books. I know some will want her to move past Shadowhunters, but she has an entire world in her mind, and I'm excited to see what she does with it!

    Thanks!

  8. There will never be enough Shadowhunter books in my opinion. The title is already alluring, I can't wait to read it, even if we still have TMI and ID books to read. I'm soo excited, I'm sure the books will be a success!
