Today we're discussing chapter 11. Well now, that was an interesting chapter. We had a lot of action, some more twists and the plot continues to thicken. I can't believe Will bit a vampire!
* There's a lot that happens in this chapter. We learn that Camille and de Quincy had a history, de Quincy gets away, Will bit a vampire, Nate is safe, but there's still some unrest and the mystery behind what's really going on continues. Today I'll keep it simple ask, what are your thoughts on the turn of events?
It was an interesting turn, Nate is now under the shadowhunters protection and with De Quincey missing... It's not the ending of all this big mess, of course. Both, Will and Jem saved Tessa's life, and she did things she never imagined she could, like shoot a gun... It's super exciting!
ReplyDeleteI was honestly surprised that Nate survived but not at all surprised that de Quincey got away. I think everything could have gone a lot worse though.
ReplyDeleteI think that Clockwork Angel is getting better and better! Cassandra throws so many different elements at you that you can't help but get really excited to see how everything is going to play out!
ReplyDeleteI love that Will bit a vampire! I also love how Tessa shot a gun. Will's reactions when Tessa was channeling Camille were also priceless. This chapter makes things feel as if they will be quite fast paced from here on out. Yay!
ReplyDeleteI love this chapter! I love it even more being that I have already read it because a lot of the little things that I didn't pick up on before are so clear now. When I read it the first time I couldn't help but wonder what Nate did to get caught up in so much trouble with De Quincy. Also I really liked getting a glimpse at why Camille wants to get De Quincy taken down, and to know how she feels.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first read this chapter I was glad that Nate was rescued but very curious about what he had done to get himself into such a situation. I also wondered what would happen to Camille since de Quincey managed to escape.
ReplyDeleteHas i said before this is my first time reading it so everything is very new. OM freekin G! This chapter was amazing so much action. I love that nate, as it appears, is not involved with tessa's capture. I'm glad tessa found her brother, and he didn't betray her as far as we know. She was so true to him all this time, it's refreshing that she got what she wanted after so long she deserves it. I think it's cute that Jem calls Tessa pretty, and observes that Will views her the same way. And i think it's tragic that poor will has to deal with the fact his best friend is dieing, i hope Jem doesn't die, i love Jem. I also think jem and will should include thomas in more stuff as it's not cool Will just droped his best friend and picked up another, even if that other is the sex Jem :).
ReplyDeleteI loved the action in this chapter. I like that Clare always puts an end of book action scene in the middle of the book. You know there is so much more to come. This scene also shows us more of everyone's personality. You get to know everyone better.
ReplyDeleteA great chapter...loved the action...Will with Tessa as Camille was delightful...still don't trust/like Nate.....have some sympathy for Camille since her dealings with DeQuincy were revealed...And Will biting a vampire (again) loved it....
ReplyDeleteStephAnnee
This is a great chapter. It showed us many shadowhunters working together, even if they don't all get along.
ReplyDeleteDe Quincy was caught by surprise, and seemed taken back by the show of force by the shadowhunters. Makes you wonder why De Quincey said the mundane(Nate)broke the law, and why he was surprised by the evidance they found. Very interesting.....
Magnus of course awesome with his help. Tessa, Will and Jem love them, everything they say and do!.
And loved that part when Will bit De Quincey.
Again Great Chapter!!!
This chapter was a bit overwhelming in the amount of information put in it. I really hope Will and Nate are healed once they get back to the Institute. I also hope that they can find out what's really going on with Nate and the Magister.
ReplyDeleteOoh this was one of my favorite chapters! I mean, the action finally picks up! And Will biting a vampire totally made me laugh- oh the irony! :P It's the next chapters I'm really excited for! ;)
ReplyDeleteInteresting Turn of events. I am hoping WIll doesnt go all Simon. It was a really good scene though
ReplyDeleteI'm curious what Nate did to upset the vamps so much! I like how Tessa took hold and uses the weapon on de Quincey. I wonder what will happen to Camille now that de Quincey is enraged and on the loose again. I LOVE the fight scene with the Shadowhunters. Jem and Will seem to be a fierce team! I especially loved the scene after the fighting when Will was confronted by Gabriel and he mouths-off, then is pulled into the carriage by Jem--hilarious!
ReplyDeleteGreat chapter!
- I know what happens next, so it's hard to comment about it. But I think this was a good, fast paced chapter. I LOVED the Will/Jem part at the end, and Will's bantering with Gabriel. I now want to read more about Nate and Tessa's interactions.
ReplyDeleteThe haven't found the Magister yet and Nate is not as innocent as Tessa thinks.
ReplyDeleteSo hard to come up with stuff when I've already read this, but I loved all the action in this chapt. Tessa with a gun! Will biting deQuincy! ("Really, Will, AGAIN?") Hot guys fighting and bantering!
ReplyDeleteI remember freaking out when I first read it, about de quincy getting away, & did not like/trust Nate one bit. If I recall correctly, I am quite looking forward to the next chapter! ;)
camille's reasons for why she helped the shadow hunters was interesting. although i still find it strange that her love interest was a werewolf. camille just seems like this fleeting and fickle kind of character, and though i sound horrible saying this, she just seems like this type of regal character who doesn't love others. ehh. oh yeah, and i like the touch where vampires are like paper and it's bad if they get caught alight. :D this chapter was good and fast paced, it's good to throw in a nice frantic scene because sometimes just sitting around and brooding over stuff gets boring. i was more curious about nate than de quincy, because nate being involved in a haven (or whatever the collective term is) of vampires is suspicious. and they wanted to execute him. so that's all suspicious, and i remember being extremely eager for the next chapter.
ReplyDeleteand also, will biting a vampire? love it. as i'm writing this, i'm just imagining a hot will with blood dripping down his teeth and chin. oooo. *melt* :D
@phoobiee OHHH, I loveeed the Will biting the vampire part too. I felt that when he grinned with the blood on his face he was living up to what Magnus called him, a dark angel. Ughhh, Wiiiiiiiillll.
ReplyDeleteI loved how Will was protctive of Tessa and how he seemed so proud of the fact that she shot De Quincey. Tessa finally fighting back was great because she seems to be rather clueless about everything. Not that I blame her. I would be scared out of my mind if I were her.
ReplyDeleteI think De Quincey may have loved Camille and killed her werewolf boyfriend out of jealousy. She clearly doesn't have any romantic feelings about him. I feel bad for her because of that but I find her cowardly because she doesn't seem to want avenge her lost love, at least not without people knowing who she was. She doesn't seem like the type of person who loves for long time; she falls in and out of love easily. She just doesn't like how De Quincey stole control over her life from her.
I kind of expected the Camille/ De Quincey. It seemed like a natural fit. De Quincey is powerful and Camille likes power. As for Nate, he sort of made me think of the way Maia described her brother in Ashes. The beauty mistaken for innocence. I thought of that when I first read about Nate.
ReplyDeleteWill and the biting seemed natural as well. He just bursts with unexpectedness. My oppinion on this group of vampires in general is that they are looking for fun in the wrong places. Camille seems to be using the shadowhunters for her own benifit.
This chapter is totally my favorite because of one specific passage. It is one of my three favorites. I loved the part where Will is talking to Gabriel about biting a vampire. I love how he says that he thought he was a ferret but it was the oppium hase. DId anyone else find that funny?
It was such an exciting chapter. So much action. I loved how Tessa stayed in the thick of it. No surprise for me that De Quincy escaped.
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for Nate's character, but at the same time I'm angry at him for dragging Tessa in to the mess he created for himself.
ReplyDeleteI'm proud of Tessa for fighting to save her brother. At least her devotion to him hasn't waivered.
I think she could have played with Will a little bit more at the party, making him act like a subjegate to her. I know I would have taken advantage of that!
It's amazing that so much is happening and it's not overwhelming. I feel like a shadowhunter right there with everyone else. Will continues to make me laugh and biting that vampire was hilarious. Yes it was gross but he did get away so it counts for something. I'm glad Nate was finally rescued because he has to know a lot about what's going on with the vampires and everything else. It was horrible that he was tortured but he obviously did something equally horrible to get in that mess. Tessa continues to amaze me. She is very tough and strong and will do anything to save the people she loves and I love her for that she is one of my favorite heroines. De Quincy being on the loose is bad you never want an angry vampire running around but I'm sure he will be found. Camille and De Quincy having history doesn't suprise me. Again they are both powerful vampires so of course they are connected to one another. The plot just gets better and better it's very exciting.
ReplyDeleteIt was definitely an interesting chapter. It's funny how the more that is answered or eluded to the more questions we have. Cassie is so good at that ;)
ReplyDeleteEeek! Loved this chapter. We finally get to see some Shadowhunters kick major booty.
ReplyDeleteI love the Tessa-as-Camille scene with De Quincey. I really like Camille as a character, and this showed me she actually had a personality.
As I was reading this for the second time around, I really got to focus on the part towards the end of the chapter where Will and Jem are in the carriage together headed back to the Institute and Will reflects on his relationships, specifically the one with Jem. He says something particularly peculiar; ...and he wondered what it would be like in a world where Jem was not dying. And that did not bear thinging about either. it was a terrible black place in himself that the fear came from, a dark voice he could only silence with anger, risk, and pain."
ReplyDeleteThis reiterates from the last chapter, where he identifies himself with Sydney Carton, the self-destructive drunkard from Dicken's novel, and feels that he doesn't deserve any happiness, yet clings to the small things that do seem to make his life worth living. It's strange that he seems to thrive on Jem's impending doom in the sense that if there wasn't that one thing to focus his love and energy on, what else would he have? It's very sad, actually. I can't wait to learn more about it in Clockwork Prince!!
I think the whole event was planned. Planned by the devious Magister to trick the Shadowhunters. I was really intrigued on what will happen to Will since he bit a vampire for the second time meaning that it was not the first. What happened when he first bit a vampire? So many questions.
