Clockwork Angel Read Along Day 5: Chapter 4, We Are Shadows

Welcome! It's day 5 of our Clockwork Angel Read Along! Please be sure to visit our linkhere for our schedule, guidelines and to fill out the form to be entered to win some fabulous prizes.

Today's discussion is about Chapter 4. We've given a reason why the Magister may have wanted to marry to Tessa. A few familiar TMI series names are mentioned, Magnus Bane & Ragnor Fell. Tessa's brother is still missing, we meet Thomas and Agatha, and Will and Tessa have some fabulous chemistry.

* When Will mentions the room he found in the Dark Sisters home decorated for a wedding ceremony, Charlotte mentions that a wedding ceremony is a powerful thing and would allow the Magister to access and control Tessa's abilities. The first time I read this, I couldn't help but wonder if this "Magister" only wants Tessa for abilities and if he's someone close to Tessa. Not many people know about her, or her powers. Tessa didn't even know what she could do until she came to London. Did you think something similar to this? Who do you think the Magister could be?

* We have now met Thomas, Sophie & Agatha, whom not only live in the institute, but they serve the Shadowhunters. I know that during this time period it wasn't out of the ordinary to have servants, but I'm surprised that with living in a world full of secrecy that the Shadowhunters would even have them. Did you think the same thing? Do you think there's more to Thomas, Sophie & Agatha than just being servants?

* One of my favorite scenes from this chapter is when Will and Tessa call each other by their first name. Clearly these two have a chemistry that is going to get better and better as the series goes along. They have that great character tension that makes me want to keep reading to know what happens between them. What are you excepting, if anything, to happen between the two of them as the story continues?

  1. * I really thing that the Magister is someone really powerful and I really think that the kind of marriage he wants with Tessa is something magical, like Charlotte said, that he'll get access to her powers. o.O

    * I was surprised about the servants as well. I mean, we know from TMI that there are mundanes that have the vision, but it was quite strange to me that they got their own mundane servants. I was even more surprised when I saw that Thomas was fighting with them when they rescued Tessa from the Dark Sisters, but I can see that Will, for example, don't consider Thomas 'one of them', even if he was fighting with him, when Will and Tessa were in the weapons room, and how he treated him when they left the room.

    * Since the first moment Tessa saw Will, I could see that something will happen with this two. I mean, Will is like a misterious guy, but he's kind to her, in his way. I loved the library scene, and specially when Will was looking at her from the face till the hips... But then I was like, ok what is wrong with you boy? Did he get nervous? He's a big misterious.

  2. The first time I read this I definitely thought that the Magister wanted Tessa only for her ability but I didn't think he would be someone close to Tessa. I did wonder whether he would still be able to control her and her ability if she married someone else first.

I was surprised to find out that Thomas was not a Shadowhunter as he had been part of Tessa's rescue party and I just assumed they would all be Shadowhunters. From the way Sophie interacted with both Charlotte and Will, I thought that they were not typical servants.

I love reading scenes with Tessa and Will. In this chapter, I especially loved the scene where Tessa says she hates chocolate and Will is horrified. But the first time I read Clockwork Angel, I tried not to have any expectations for a Tessa and Will relationship so I won't be disappointed if they don't become a couple.

  3. Whoops! I kinda answered the first one yesterday, but since I didn't actually answer it until late in the day, I don't feel too bad. I think the wedding was important to the Magister for the power aspect. He obviously wanted to gain something more from Tessa than a love union. It was probably why it was so important for the sisters to prime her and her powers.
I don't remember being surprised about the servants, especially with Will's "sight" explanation. I just remember always loving Sophie's frankness with Charlotte and her snarkiness around Will. Thomas was extremely comfortable around them too. It made them more like family than actual servants.
I loved the scene too. You could almost feel the tension rolling off of both of them. Of course you know what Tessa is thinking. Will could be thinking anything and probably nothing that anyone would expect. The tension will inevitably grow. How they handle that tension is anyone's guess.

  4. * Exactly! I secretly hoped, though, that Will was going to be a little bit jealous cause isn't that the girls always want the mysterious, handsome guys to be jealous? And yes, I think the way the Magister thought about Tessa and wanted a wedding, magical or not, means something. Maybe in the next books... I can't wait!

    * I adore books of Victorian era, so it usually isn't a big deal to accept their habits and way-of-speaking and the fact that they never had been so close to anybody, but.. I have to agree with you. Shadowhunters themselves are quite unimaginable in steampunk style and time, but keeping servants are even harder to imagine. Don't we all think about Thomas, Sophie or Agatha as the main characters of the book? They're not less than Charlotte or Jessamine or any other. That and poor Charlotte's fight to have to voice in the Clave keep me think about that time. It would be okay and normal in any other victorian book, but here... I guess I got stuck in New York's shadowhunters, though I prefer London and Infernal devices. Sorry :D

    * Will is... every girl's dream, right? Difficult character, mysterious, doesn't care about the world, dark, dark, very dark, and nobody gets to know him. But if you look at him and the things he did, you can easily understand why does he do that. Well, except if you're Tessa, who is everything but not Will. I personally like them but I rather ship Tessa with Jem, cause Tessa's like me and James is my favorite. He's also the kind of soul-healers who I always want to meet but they live only in books. He's a best-friend boyfriend, loves you, but could never hurt you.
And well... if I were Tessa, I'd chose him. If Tessa were Tessa, she'd chose Will. And I believe she will, eventually.

  5. I love the chemistry between Tessa and Will. The scene in the library was fun to read. I expect that they will continue to have that special tension throughout the series. Will will try to remain mysterious, but Tessa will eventually break through his walls.

  6. I could not figure out who the magister was. I think it was The Dark Sisters who said he had her created, so I definitely thought it was someone that knew her and her family, even if she had no idea who he was.

I love Thomas, Agatha and Sophie! I think they are going to play a very big part in the story.

Will and Tessa have an amazing chemistry! I am looking forward to reading how it is going to play out in the story.

  7. I absolutely love Thomas! He seems like the kind of guy who is nice, funny and shy.Sort of like the perfect crush. Too bad people don't usually go for the perfect guy.

Will and Tessa do have great chemistry and I think they'll end up together, even though Will seems like a closed book. OI really hope we learn more about his history later on in the book.

  8. When I first read CA, I thought that the Magister only wanted Tessa for her ability.
I never contemplated that the Magister could be someone close to Tessa.

I don't remember being suprised about the servants. I just thought it was cool that Sophie and Thomas acted more like friends to the Shadowhunters than actual servants.

I love all the interactions between Tessa and Will. I remember reading the library scene and thinking "gosh, can't they kiss already?" Their chemistry is absolutely incredible!

    ReplyDelete
  9. The magister has to have known about Tessa from someone. Maybe he knew her family? Since Tessa didn't know about her ability someone else had too (again, family?). It seems unlikely that neither of Tessa's parents wouldn't have known about her ability.

The servant thing stuck out to me too. They seem so modern, yet they still have people wait on them. But they do all seem like "family".

    ReplyDelete
  10. *I thought that the Magister was someone very powerful, who only wanted Tessa for her powers, as it would just make him even more powerful.

*I didn't really find it odd at all that they had servants, even though they live a life of secrecy. I figured that they are bound to them and cannot break that trust to keep the secrets. Ans it is mentioned that Thomas's parents had the sight and had worked for Charlotte's parents. I thought there had to be something more to it than just servants by how they interact with one another.

*I thought that there was chemistry between them from when he came to get her from the Dark House. It's pretty obvious that he is hiding something by the way he acts, but you can definitely see the interest he has in Tessa. I do love their interactions. They are so entertaining.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I did think it was a little odd that such a secret place would have servants, but I really like Agatha, Sophie and Thomas. I definitely think there is more to them than we know. I love their interactions with the Shadowhunters, especially Charlotte and Will.

    Also, Will + Tessa <3

  12. When I first read about the Magister, the last thing that crossed my mind was that he was human. For me, he had to a member of the shadow world; how else could you construct such advanced robots unless there were some magic involved? I imagined something incredibly sinister, given the marriage prospect. Therefore, when the inhabitants of the Institute were convinced it was De Quincey -- I was too, and I was astonunded when I discovered that it wasn't.
Well, having a basic but nonetheless stable knowledge of the hierarchical society in latter-day England, the fact that the Shadowhunters had servants didn't surprise me at all. Quite the contrary, I would have found it shocking if they *hadn't*. Even for purely practical reasons: the Institute is a massive place, and Charlotte would certainly have a monumental task trying to clean it/manage it all on her own. After all, it offered refuge for girls like Sophie, did it not? I am sure that Sophie would rather serve in the Institute than where she used to work. And of course, there are more sides to the characters that we haven't seen yet. It's shame that we never will get to with Thomas and Agatha. But I have heard that the Institute gets some new servants, which will be interesting...
I think it was obvious from the first that Will was going to be a potential lover interest. The difference in this chapter is that it turns that potentiality into actuality -- the stolen glances, the flirtatious language...Who could resist Will anyway?

    ReplyDelete
  13. I had no clue who the magister was the first time I read the books. I did not think it would be someone familiar to her, as she knew no-one in London and came only for her brother.

The servants did not surprise me as this was Victorian London. They made me believe Shawdow Hunters could have existed in that time period.

I love Will & Tessa. As I have read the book, I won't say more than that.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Thank you for your comments! I'm wishing we could all get together and discuss this book in person. lol

I LOVE the library scene! It's fabulous! Will and Tessa's scenes together in this chapter are some of my favorites.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I actually think some of the servants are more important such as Sophie and Thomas. I am not sure about Agatha though. I am expecting Will to let her get close only to push her away again. It seems like a thing his character would do. The magister has to know her in some way, how we dot know yet

    ReplyDelete
  16. * I think the Magister definitely only wants Tessa for her power, but as to who he might be, I have no idea. It would make sense if he was someone who knew her though, especially for a long time. Or perhaps he knows someone close to her that knew of her ability...

    * I sense a romance coming on between Will and Tessa – there were far too many fireworks for there not to be one ;)

    ReplyDelete
  17. On the Magister- I agree that he is someone who knows alot about Tessa. Having already read the book, I feel like he knows her or her parents well from somewhere else. I think he has a devious plot that goes deeper than just wanting her power. On the servants- I think I kind of expected it, knowing the time period. I wasn't really surprised. I think that since the shadowhunters, Charlotte in perticular, are kind and compassionate enoough that they would take the 3 in. I feel like they were ridiculed for there unusualness, that maybe they were kicked out of their previous households. On Tessa and Will- OMG THAT SCENE WAS AWSOME!! I love Tessa and feel like Will is a ruder version of Jace. I loved that scene because it was so out-of-the-time-period. I think it was great having all of the build up to useing eachothers names. I loved that scene because it seemed so private and in-love, though Tessa is too good to end up with Will.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I think the magister has to be someone who knows tessa and her brother. Because he wouldn't have known about her power if he wasn't close to her.

I think thomas, agatha, and sophie are much more than servents i think they are considerd friends as well. If they weren't considered friends they would never be able to talk to their employers the way they do. And i agree it seems weird with all the secrecy that they would have servents. But i think they must have a deep trust in them.

I think will and tessa will find themselves being attracted to each other and i think they will act on their feelings for each other.

    ReplyDelete
  19. As to the wedding room, it kind of creeps me out...forcing Tessa to marry a stranger...someone I see as old and creepy...in those times Tessa would have been totally under his control...think he knows more about her than we do...someone close who knows her ability before she did...

The servants would have to be a special kind of person to keep the secrets of the house...maybe not a special power or ability just very loyal, very quiet....

Tessa and Will....to use first names implies a level of intimacy in that time...I enjoy watching these two interact...attracted to each other and fighting the attraction is very entertaining...

  20. For the Magister to know more about Tessa and her abilities than she did, it does make me wonder if he has some past connection to her or her family. The whole wedding chamber was creepy, thankfully Tessa was rescued before she was taken advantage of by being forced to marry the Magister and be used for her powers.

The servants were a surprise to me. One thing about Shadowhunters, they do not like Mundanes. So, that leads me to think that maybe these servants are more than just Mundanes with the sight. I cannot wait to find out why Sophie dislikes Will so much.

Will and Tessa. Well there will be a power of wills between those two! I also think it will be a tug-o-war of emotions and trust. Will opens up then shuts down, same for Tessa. They are both strong and smart so it will be fun to watch their interactions throughout the book. I doubt they will bend enough to give into their feeling so my prediction is that they do not get together in this book. It will be interesting to see if my prediction holds true (first time reader).

    ReplyDelete
  21. The Magister is someone who knows Tessa and her family.

The servants they have are not usual mundanes. They have the sight. They can see Shadowhunters regardless of glamours.

Tessa and Will I think will be like Jace and Clary, although I don't think there will be the sister/brother thing.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Well, I don't think the Institute would allow ordinary mundanes to be servants. So, perhaps they're just gifted in some way, like they can see the supernatural, or something like that. The tension between Will and Tessa, to me, honestly seems sort of self-destructive, like their romance could only end in tragedy of some sort. As for the Magister, he could possibly be a far-off relative, who knew Tessa's parents or something like that.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I think it is completely normal for the shadowhunters to have servants I'd be surprised if they didn't and I don't think it is unusual that they are mundanes even so that they have the Sight. I think there's something special about Sophie though, I had read the book before and there are a couple of suggestions hitting she is more than an ordinary girl. I'm very curious about her. Cassandra posted a teaser for CP where Sophie is being trained (together with Tessa) by the Lightwood brothers so I am expecting bigger things and moments from her. Should I say I think that one of Lightwood brothers will fall in love with her? I think so!
Everything about Tessa and Will screams big romance! I loved their chemistry during that tour inside the Institute and how Will remembered Tessa loved books.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I'm going to skip the first question, for obvious reasons.
As to the servants I think it is needed. Victorian society thrived on status and money and a lot of decoration. Shadowhunters are by no doubt well-to-do people, had they not had servants it would have been most peculiar. Not only that Shadowhunters are—I think—essentially proud people in general, so if they had not had servants I would have been shocked. After all they are still human to some degree and have their own society to keep up with.
Sophie, Thomas and Agatha I like very very much. They are all quite outspoken, the women more so than Thomas which is unusual but I liked that. Sophie mainly, yet only Tessa sees an issue with this. Even Will, who she was rather rude too, thought it not one way or the other. She is very interesting. I think they are more than just servants. As Will said, some of them have lived here for a long time. I think they are part of this institute family too. No more minor than that of Jess or Will.
    -----------------------------------------------

Will and Tessa. Well I think you can just look at my name and have my opinion on that matter. What a pair! I am reading this book for the third time and I am still enthralled by their romantic chemistry. From the get go Tessa is drawn in by Will's appearance, but in this chapter it shows how she is also drawn in by /him/ as a person. His looks were "alluring" his expressions "compelling" and she notices just about everything he does. She is extremely aware of him. But how could she not be? He's beautiful.
As for Will, well he's still a mystery to me. He is endearingly sweet though for such a elusive character. How he remembers the little promise of the books—which was made in a state of panic so that's highly impressive—to how he looks at her. With such emotion, we know not what emotion, but strong feeling anyway. It is obvious that he too is being 'compelled' towards Tessa. I think it's safe to say, we can expect some love interest from the two.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I am still completely in the dark about the Magister, what his motives are, or how marrying Tessa could help him accomplish his goals. I really don't think I've learned enough to even hazard a guess.

I wasn't too surprised about having non-Shadowhunters as servants. It seemed that there seems to be some historical vocation around this as well.

I loved the scene where Will and Tessa called each other by their first names. It was just so... intimate. I definitely see some sparks between those two.

    ReplyDelete
  26. In this chapter learning from Charlotte about what a wedding ceremony do, really makes you wonder how the magister has all this information about Tessa. There has to be a connection between her parents and the Magister.
I love the mundanes that are employed at the institute. Sophie, love she is so strong to hold her own.
Will and Tessa at his point are noticeably going to have that spark and tension going.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I have no idea who the magister is...but I have a feeling he had a part in why tessa is who she is. I definitely think there is something more to Thomas, Sophie & Agatha. There is something that connects them to the shadowhunters...they wouldn't be in the institute if there wasn't. I love tessa and will's chemistry. I fully expect (or secretly hope lol) that the two of them will hook up at some point lol!

    ReplyDelete
  28. At this point, it's very unclear who the Magister is. In the last chapter, Tessa dreams about her Aunt Harriet's death, where she was speaking about Tessa being not-human, so we could probably assume some of her family members knew of her condition. This could mean that the Magister was someone either from her family or close to her parents.

Tessa comments on how the Shadowhunters treat their servants - Thomas, Agatha, and Sophie - like they're more than just employees, but like an extended family. Tessa is shocked by their casual name-usage, Sophie's wit that she throws right back at Will, and Thomas'... umm, musculature, from training as a Shadowhunter while being a mundane. I love how you can tell that they all care for each other, even in the casual observations that Tessa makes and her not realizing how much they truly love each other.

The anticipation of that first "never to be" kiss between Tessa and Will was amazing! I wanted to reach in and shove their faces together, but obviously that doesn't happen at this time. I like how Tessa can take what Will dishes out in the sarcasm department, and he seems to respect her for it and even encourages it (in a subliminal way.) I'm anticipating how their relationship will blossom and grow further!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Well when Charlotte mentioned the marriage thing i was kind of curious of how the Magister would know that and i of course thought he was only using Tessa for her ability, because seriously who would marry someone without even knowing them?

I wasnt really suprised that much when it mentioned they had servants, because if they have the sight they might aswell take them into the shadowhunters, and not let them run around like crazy people saying there seeing wierd things. Also when i read about Thomas i was really sad that he was soo lonely, but I really loved Sophie and Agatha.

When i first read when Will said Tessas name i was sooo happy, i knew there was going to be a love connetction between them and they would make a wonderfull couple too, but as i read on when Will got mad at her for calling him an orphan i got a little curios.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Aww... how do I answer this but keep it spoiler free? lol, I know the right answers, but then that would be spoiling it for those who haven't read it yet! :P

But I do know in the end that Will and Tessa will live happily ever after together....
.... until the sequel arrives! :D

  31. All this talk of weddings and the magister confused me. I'll admit I'm not usually the first to catch onto things. But I love a bit of suspense and it did intreage me.

It was good to be introduced to some non shadowhunter characters. I did think that maybe, like Tessa, they may have had powers we just didn't know about yet. I also thought they may have another connection to the shadowhunters at the institute to form a bond of some sort.

And the start of a connection between Will and Tessa, could help but start to swoon, and need to read more and more and more :-)

    ReplyDelete
  32. i think the magister is close to tessa in a sense that the magister understands her more than she understands herself - after all, wasn't it mentioned before that he 'created' her? the marriage thing was a bit creepy for me, and i kind of understand where charlotte is getting at - for a long time it has been the male sex who have been dominant, and definitely in this type of world filled with shadow hunters and demons, a marriage is a type of binding thing. oh yeah and given the time period, arranged marriages (even though tessa found out really late haha) seem quite normal.

i wasn't surprised that the shadow hunters had human servants. especially in the big institute, you would still need people to clean up and stuff. although i also feel that it is a bit strange because it's like jace said.. and other people said.. that shadow hunters think they're better than mundanes. in terms of thomas, sophie and agatha, i think they're just good friends with the shadow hunters, and they help serve them.

ahhhh i was like squealing when i was reading about will and tessa. it's obvious that tessa will fall in love with will, and that something will happen between them! it's a typical love subplot that adds more to the plot. and everyone loves them. :) i reckon something will happen between tessa and will though, to prevent them from immediately being together and whatnot. like jace and clary. it might be because of will's personality, or other shadow hunters, or anything else. i'm excited to find out. :D

  34. - I agree that he wants to marry her merely for her abilities, no wonder he had the Dark Sisters imprison her and train her, it was for him. What I'm curious about it's the story behind how he knew about her powers, and what was his involvement in "creating her" as the Dark Sisters stated before.

    - I didn't think about the secrecy aspect to be honest as Will practically explained it when he talked about some families knowing about Shadowhunters and growing up/living with them, like Thomas's, so for me that explains it. I think there is in fact more to them than being servants, they are aids and family, you can see they have a deeper relationship than servants and masters the way Sophie talks to Will and Charlotte, and the way Will directed himself at Thomas and Agatha. I like the 3 of them as characters, especially Sophie and Thomas.

    - I thought it was funny that he already had called her by her first name when they had dinner, as well as Charlotte, this time just made it more formal and okay for them to do so. I agree, I think they have great chemistry, I like them together. I like how Tessa says she feels as she already knows him, and how she doesn't back away from him but rather confront him, and that she's so observant that she's already picking on his characteristics and personality. I would love if he opened up to her in the next book...

    ReplyDelete
  35. I do believe the Magistar is after Tessa solely for her abilities, but it is clear to me he is very involved in her 'creation' I don't think he is her biological father, but I get the distinct feeling that he believes himself to be her 'father' if that makes sense.

I have to say I was a bit disappointed to find out that Thomas wasn't an actual Shadowhunter, but I was thrilled to know they allowed him to train and fight along side them. I don't think I was surprised to find that they have servants. I can think the explanation of them having the sight and working for the Shadowhunters going back through the generations makes perfect sense and the fact that while they are considered to be servants they are not truly treated as such shows the respect (yes, even Will with his 'snarkiness' toward Sophie) that they each have for one another.

Ms. Clare is a master at hooking us into her characters relationships. Just the simple idea of calling each other by their first name ( I realize this was not a common occurrence in Victorian society) is written to be such an intimate act. I Love the way (in my head) their names roll so softly off their tongues, it just begs of a closer relationship between the two. I am totally hooked and both excited and nervous to discover how their relationship progresses in the next two books.

  36. The idea of how a ceremonial marriage is very powerful, and could allow the magister access to Tessa's power made me wonder if this could work the other way as well and allow her access to his power.
What a dangerous couple that would be.

I am not surprised that the shadowhunters employ mundanes I am surprised that they are treated with such kindness.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I don't see why they wouldn't have servants. It seems like a big house and the showdowhunters are quite busy and don't have time to think about keep up the house. I guess it makes life easier for them. Even though I don't think they look at their servants like many did at that time. They much more friendly. They really seem like a part of the family.

I believe Will and Tessa will have alot of fights. They seem to get underneth eachothers skin. Will is observant of what Tessa does and likes while Tessa is determined to know what's behind Will facade. Hopefully there will be some steemy stuff too though. The tension calls for it ;)

    ReplyDelete
  38. I have no clue about the Magister! The whole ceremonial marriage to gain control of her powers makes sense. Clearly he knows more about her than anyone else.

I was surprised about the servants since the Institute in TMI series is very NOT open to mundanes! It was a different time and place but it certainly makes me wonder.

LOVE the tension between Tessa and Will. The whole library scene is a favorite of mine. I love what they say about books :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. I think that Will and Tessa would be good together. I think that they could balance each other out. And make each other step outside of their comfort zones.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I actually don't think the Magister is close to Tessa because of the marriage part. Even though few people know who she is and what she can do, word can easily travel fast so I wouldn't be surprised to know if Tessa doesn't know the Magister. I also don't think she knows who it is because she has grown up away from Downworld and has lived with just a brother and her aunt for quite a long time. She knows way less people than they know her.

Yes it is fitting for there to be servants but shadowhunters live in a very secret world. To know about them is pretty much a miracle to mundanes. For Thomas, Sophie, and Agatha to be well of aware of everything is major which only means that they are important to the Institute and I'm sure will have vital roles to play in this book and series.

I absolutely adore Will and Tessa is a great female character. Them getting to know each other is quite amusing because Tessa is just so curious and Will is just well Will. Being cocky and confident and that sarcasm just makes me laugh out loud. It was cute when those two said their first names out loud. That meant a huge deal back in the day because one would have to be very close and friendly with the other. Will and Tessa have a great attraction which will be great to see develop throughout the book. But since this is an ancestor of Jace, I know Will will keep a lot to himself and probably will want to stay away from Tessa or Tess to him. This will just drive Tessa to want to be with or near him more because of his mysteries. These two will definitely challange each other because of their attraction and I am rooting for them to end up together.

  41. I think Tessa is of something as a hybrid downworlder or something, I think the Magister is who created her.

I think Thomas, Sophie and Agatha has proved the Shadowhunters their allegiance thats why they're freely roaming the institute and working with them. I also think they served other Shadowhunter family before them.

I always think that Tessa is really the ice breaker for Will, as you know him he's always on the crack. I totally agree that they have chemistry.

    ReplyDelete
  42. It's obvious that Will and Tessa have chemistry, it just remains to be seen if she can get past his strange behavior.

  43. When I first read this, I thought the Magister would be someone very close to Tessa, because who else would know about her power? And they only want her so that they can use her.

I thought Agatha, Thomas, and sophie would have to have some kind of connection to Downworld to work for the shadowhunters.

Gah. I just KNEW there was something there.
