Kate Lowry didn't think dead best friends could send e-mails. But when she gets an e-mail from Grace, she’s not so sure.

Kate,
I'm here…
sort of.
Find Cameron.
He knows.
I shouldn't be writing.
Don't tell.
They'll hurt you.

Now Kate has no choice but to prove once and for all that Grace’s death was more than just a tragic accident. But secrets haunt the halls of her elite private school. Secrets people will do anything to protect. Even if it means getting rid of the girl trying to solve a murder...(quoted from Goodreads).

Lisa and Laura's wit, sarcasm and all around fun nature really bring their debut book to life. The Liar Society was such a nice surprise as not only is the writing fresh, mysterious and engaging, but Kate's voice is one I was totally intrigued with that it hooked me from page one.

Kate is a character whom I really felt sorry for and at other times I wanted pat her on the back and tell her to keep at it. I have no idea what it's like to lose a best friend, but as Kate is trying to pull her life back together, she all the sudden starts getting emails from her dead BFF. Freaky? Yep, just a little bit. In a quest to find out exactly what happened to her BFF, Kate is about to find herself in the middle of a deadly murder mystery game. Believe me, you'll be questioning everyone she does to figure out what really happened. Kate's not alone as she has her fantastic nerdy, next door neighbor Seth and the mysterious, hot, "bad boy" Liam there to help her solve the clues and uncover the shocking truth.

What makes The Liar Society stand out among a group of recent releases? The fact that Lisa and Laura have not only introduced a fun, likable heroine with fantastic laugh out loud one liners, but they've created a YA mystery with the perfect blend of a sweet romance, intrigue and of course the perfect "who done it". Add in a prestigious boarding school with lots of secrets and a cast of characters whom you will think are either hot, mysterious, want someone to go shadowhunter on them, will fall in love with, want to meet in person or wish you had as your best friends and you have the first book in what I think will be a fabulous series.

This is not like any other YA book I've read recently which is part of it's charm. What I enjoyed the most is the snarky, sassy writing style and attitude Kate has. It's fabulous and really set the tone for the story. Along with Kate, I also liked how both Seth and Liam compliment both Kate and the story. Both characters are nothing alike and yet they add a lot to this dynamic friendship. Even though at times I was annoyed with how Kate would "use" Seth and the lies she told, I understood why. Believe me, that will all make sense when you read the book. I don't want to give away any spoilers.

I enjoyed The Liar Society as it's a fast paced book, with a blend of mystery and contemporary, mixed with secret societies, lies, given a little dose of a realistic romance and one huge plot twist that I didn't see coming. There is some very mild language in the book, but nothing that takes away from the story by any means. I would definitely recommend picking it up.

We are anxiously awaiting the release of City of Fallen Angels.... not only do we want to find out what happens next, but we want to read the letter Jace writes to Clary! Here's what Cassie says about the B&N signed special edition of CoFA-

"What this means basically is that Barnes and Noble in the US is going to be carrying a special edition of COFA with some special content inside it.

The B&N Exclusive Edition

In City of Glass, Book 3 of The Mortal Instruments series, Jace leaves a letter in Clary's room before he leaves for a life-threatening mission. The content of this letter has been the subject of much speculation among Mortal Instruments fans, but it has never been revealed until now. In the B&N exclusive version of CITY OF FALLEN ANGELS, Jace's letter to Clary will be enclosed in the book as a separate piece, designed to look as if it was handwritten on stationery."

I had initially written the letter and given it to my publisher as something that could be a tour extra — something I could have printed up to hand out to people who come to my signings. But they loved the letter so much they wanted to make it available more widely and Barnes jumped on the idea of carrying it. Everyone agreed they wanted it to look really amazing, so it's handwritten — no handwriting fonts — and sealed with the Morgenstern wax seal.

Just to answer questions: Yes, the signed edition has the letter too. No, that doesn't mean no tour giveaway — I now have something else to give away on tour, which is a sort of short story told via postcards between the characters during the gap between City of Glass and City of Fallen Angels. Yes, this edition is only available at Barnes and Noble stores and from their online store. Yes, that means it is not available from other stores, or in countries where there are not Barnes and Noble, as of now. No, this is not a limited edition. All City of Fallen Angels books sold by B&N will have it. Yes, we have been working to do other cool things with other stores and outlets too. Yes, Barnes does ship overseas but I don't know their shipping policies exactly, but I'm sure it says on the site. I should have tour dates soon so I'll post those soon as well!"

Before Briony's stepmother died, she made sure Briony blamed herself for all the family's hardships. Now Briony has worn her guilt for so long it's become a second skin. She often escapes to the swamp, where she tells stories to the Old Ones, the spirits who haunt the marshes. But only witches can see the Old Ones, and in her village, witches are sentenced to death. Briony lives in fear her secret will be found out, even as she believes she deserves the worst kind of punishment.

Then Eldric comes along with his golden lion eyes and mane of tawny hair. He's as natural as the sun, and treats her as if she's extraordinary. And everything starts to change. As many secrets as Briony has been holding, there are secrets even she doesn't know (quoted from Goodreads).
