Cassie Interviews Ed Westwick

Ohhh I'm so excited about this post! Thank you to Simon & Schuster we're able to share this fabulous phone interview of Cassie talking to Ed Westwick about recording the CP audiobook! This was previously featured on MTV's site. Enjoy....

Thank you to Hypable we have a clip from Ed Westwick introducing Cassie as the CP launch last week at Barnes & Noble.

Cassie picks her Entertainer of the Year

EW's Shelf Life posted a great interview with Cassie in which they asked her to pick her entertainer of the year. Can you guess who she choose? You're correct if you choose her imaginary movie boyfriend Robert Downey Jr!!

Quoting from their interview with Cassie here, she said:

"He’s so great, and I was so happy to see him doing all these amazing projects. And he’s Sherlock Holmes and Jude Law is Watson! Sherlock Holmes is one of the things I read when I was really young, and they imprinted on my consciousness. I think that’s a huge part of why I love Victorian England so much. When I found out about [the casting], I think I was on a bus. I was reading a magazine, and I turned to my best friend and screamed! I’m so excited about the new movie coming out, and I loved the previous one. So I guess for me, it would have to be Robert Downey Jr."

YES! I agree, I love him and Jude Law in Sherlock Holmes!! Since Cassie mentioned Sherlock Holmes, that's my excuse to post this

and the trailer for the second Sherlock Holmes movie that will be out on Friday!!

EW also asked Cassie about her favorite YA book of 2011 and she picked two, one of my favorites: Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor and Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson, which I've got to hurry up and read.

Recent TMI/ID News

I've some how missed some fabulous TMI/ID news lately and I completely applogize for that. I'm posting all the goodies in one big post. Believe me, it's worth reading!!

************

We've got some great TMI movie news to share with you guys via TheFabLife's recent interview with Cassie.

Here's a little bit from the interview, which you can read in it's entirety here. Cassie answers the question about what's happening with the TMI movie and why the script was re-written:

Clare herself stopped by the VH1 offices last week while promoting Clockwork Prince, book two in Mortal Instruments prequel series The Infernal Devices, and gave us a very good reason for the movie’s delay: The original script didn’t stay true to the books.

“Nobody could settle on a script that they liked, and so there was a lot of back-and-forthing, and finally, it came down from the head of the studio [Screen Gems] that she wanted the script rewritten,” Cassie told TheFABlife. “She didn’t feel like it stuck close enough to the book. I kind of agreed with her. There were some characters that were taken out and things that were switched around, and it was very different from City of Bones.”

They brought Pretty Little Liars screenwriter Marlene King onboard to rewrite the whole darn thing, bringing back more of Clare’s characters and giving it a “great teen voice,” Clare said.

After reading this interview, I'll wait as long as I have to in order for the stuido to get the movie right! I completely admire them for wanting to stay true to the books.

Cassie talks to Hollywood Crush about Ed Westwick, you know the velvety voice heard on the CP audiobooks. Cassie said she'd love to see Ed play Will in the ID movie, which is currently in the works!

When asked about the reaction Cassie's received for CP, she said, "What I've gotten has been a really great, positive reaction," she said. "People have really loved it. But there's definitely been a lot of heartbreak: 'This broke my heart. This really made me question my loyalties. Who are my favorite characters? What do I want to happen in the end?' I think there's a lot of questions of how this can be a happy ending for everybody because at the end of the book, we leave everybody in a state of, I would say, very delicate balance."

You can read the rest of the interview here and watch it below:

#BIR2011 Day 3: Lola & The Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins

Published by: Dutton/Penguin Books
Released on: September 29th, 2011

In this companion novel to Anna and the French Kiss, two teens discover that true love may be closer than they think.

Budding designer Lola Nolan doesn't believe in fashion . . . she believes in costume. The more expressive the outfit—more sparkly, more fun, more wild—the better. But even though Lola's style is outrageous, she's a devoted daughter and friend with some big plans for the future. And everything is pretty perfect (right down to her hot rocker boyfriend) until the dreaded Bell twins, Calliope and Cricket, return to the neighborhood.

When Cricket—a gifted inventor—steps out from his twin sister's shadow and back into Lola's life, she must finally reconcile a lifetime of feelings for the boy next door. -quoted from Stephanie's site

First she gave us Anna & St Clair and then she followed them up with Lola & Cricket and what a lovely follow up they are! Lola makes me wish I had her as my personal vintage shopper and Cricket makes nerdy boys look hot! That's of course not all the reasons why we love this book. Anna and St Clair are in the book, Stephanie's writing is just as beautiful as it was in Anna & The French Kiss and she creates characters who feel so real they had us wishing we could spend some time with them. I mean, have you read about Anna's dads yet?! Who wouldn't want to meet them or spend the day with Lola, Cricket, Anna and St. Clair. Plus, you know we can't not love a good, realistic, modern day love story!

Hi Stephanie! Thank you so much for joining us today for our BIR201 feature. Lola is such a fun character to get to know. What's one thing you admire the most about her?

Thank you very, very much. I admire Lola’s sense of self, even if it is temporarily shaken. It took me a lot longer than high school to be comfortable in my own skin.

We love Lola's fashion sense. What is one of your favorite vintage pieces that Lola owns?

A vulture hat.

NO WAIT. That was in that other book I wrote.
A vulture hat.NO WAIT. That was in that other book I wrote.

Lola's fathers are fabulous!! We absolutely loved them. Were they inspired by someone you know, or a combination of people?

They’re inspired by my own straight parents more than anyone. I didn’t want them to be a THING, you know? I just wanted them to be good fathers, and my parents are great role models.

Cricket...*sigh* He totally won our hearts. What inspired you to write Cricket and Lola's story?

Thank you. I’m quite fond of him myself! I bought the idea for their story on the black market. I think it came from Russia, but its serial number had been scratched off.

We LOVED your setting for Lola. What's one of your favorite places to visit in SF?

I loathe the tourist trappings of Fisherman’s Wharf, but the grumbly sea lions that hang out there are magnificent.
