The Mortal Instruments Movie Monday #8: My 5 Favorite Things About the TMI Movie Trailer

Welcome to this week's edition of The Mortal Instruments Movie Monday. I don't know about you guys, but I still have not recovered from all the TMI Movie awesomeness of last week, and all we got was were the official poster reveals and the first Mortal Instruments: City of Bones trailer. Can you imagine what it's going to be like when the movie is out!?! We might need some "sima down" runes when August rolls around.

Let's talk about that fabulous The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones movie trailer, shall we. There's so much to discuss about this trailer. Just in case you haven't seen it yet, take a look of what we're all going crazy over here:

I narrowed down my list of things to discuss to 5, which was a hard thing to do, given how amazing I think this trailer is. I don't know how Sony was able to pack so much into less than 2 mins, but they did, and I THANK THEM for it! Here's my list of 5 things I love about the TMI Movie Trailer.

#1- Proof that Jamie Campbell Bower is Jace

I have previously shared part 1 of my conversion story from not being a fan of Jamie being cast as Jace to being 100% convinced that Jamie is the perfect actor to bring our beloved Jace to life. If the teasers you see of him playing Jace in the trailer don't convince, just wait till you see the movie. Once I'm allowed to, I'll be sharing more of my personal belief behind Jamie as Jace closer to the movie's release.

#2- The Shadowhunters/casting

I honestly do not think they could have cast a more perfect group of actors to bring Cassie's characters to life. One of the things I don't like with books being made into movies is the casting. Often times there are characters who are cast that make me go "what the heck where they thinking in casting them?", but with this movie I'm impressed with who they've cast, and I personally love knowing that didn't just rush in and cast the next big name in Hollywood. The studio cast actors who they felt would do a brilliant job at bringing each of the characters to life. Plus it's extra reassuring knowing they also talked to Cassie, and kept her involved with the movie as well.

#3- Runes

I LOVE that they kept the original runes that Cassie commissioned Val to do when The Mortal Instruments series was first published. I respect and admire the studio for keeping these the same and not scrapping them to create new ones just for the movie. That again shows me that they went above and beyond to try and keep the series's authenticity real and stay try to the series and what the fans love.

#4- ACTION SCENES

We got at least three action scenes in the trailer that I can not wait to see on the big screen. The one pictured above, the Hotel scene and Jace and Valentine fighting! I think we're going to be in for a treat with all the action moments that will be taking place in this movie. Not to mention the scene with Simon tackling Madame Dorothea... yeah that shot of Simon's butt in the trailer when paused shows him w/ M.D.  I love knowing that many of the action scenes were filmed by the actors themselves and not their stunt doubles.

#5- The Silent Brothers

There are a lot of things I loved about this trailer and it's hard narrowing my list down to 5. I can't make a list and not mention the Silent Brothers. These guys creeped me out in the book, but holy freakiness, they are even creepier seeming them come to life! I've said this in an earlier post, the fact that this Silent Brother has eyes is even scarier. If you watch the trailer closely, you can see is eyes! Let's just say there is no way in heck I'd near them... well maybe if one of them turns out to be Will or Jem I would.... maybe.

What are some of your favorite scenes from the trailer?

Cassie Clare's Wish List For a 2nd TMI Movie Trailer

MTV's Hollywood Crush recently sat down with Cassie Clare and asked her about he wish list for TMI Movie trailer #2. Let's right, trailer number 2!! Here's what Cassie said:

"What I really hope they show in a new trailer is Magnus' party and more of Magnus," she said. "I think that probably it's not in the trailer because those are heavy CGI scenes with a lot of effects, and there's just no way to do them that quickly, so I'm really looking forward to seeing that. There's a certain flying motorcycle that I'm looking forward to seeing. There's some great fighting stuff with Aidan Turner and stunts with Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Lily Collins that are going to be really fun to watch.

"This is just a teaser—it's just supposed to give you a little taste of the movie, so I think there's going to be more kind of narrative trailers that are going to come," she continued. "And, of course, I hope they'll include a little bit of the greenhouse scene, which is really beautiful. I think people would love to see a bit of that."

Um, yes, MAGNUS please! That's all I'm wishing for in trailer number two is a whole lot of Magnus. Shoot I'd even take a peep or even a glance, just PLEASE GIVE US Magnus. What is one thing you'd like to see in the second trailer?

Blog Tour: Gravity by Melissa West; Guest Post

Welcome to today's stop in Entangled Teen's Gravity Blog Tour. I'm thrilled to have debut author Melissa West on the blog today, to share with us 5 books she'd recommend to teen readers.

I am a voracious reader, particularly with YA as I try to stay up-to-date on what’s happening in the YA world. So when asked what five books I would recommend to teen readers, my first thought was, “Only 5?” :) I could probably list ten times that many, but to keep this on point, I will go with five 2012 releases that I adored.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT by Colleen Clayton
Colleen does an amazing job of addressing a very serious topic in a way that feels natural and not at all forced. I read this book in one day, too engrossed in Sid’s story to set the book down. It’s wonderful.

MY LIFE NEXT DOOR by Huntley Fitzpatrick
This is contemporary at its best. The story is rich and emotional and just so, so good. I loved it.

GRETA AND THE GOBLIN KING by Chloe Jacobs
This book has not yet released, but will later this month and it is not to be missed! The worldbuilding is nothing short of magic. I found myself re-reading scenes again and again just so I could get every detail of this amazing story.

SWEET EVIL by Wendy Higgins
It is very rare for me to read a book that keeps me thinking about the characters. This one did. I thought about the story long after I finished it and cannot wait for SWEET PERIL. I highly recommend it!

ANGELFALL by Susan Ee
This book technically released as a self-published title in 2011, but was picked by Amazon Publishing and republished in August of 2012. It is amazing. It’s dark and gritty and the characters are just wonderful.

Thank you Melissa for stopping by Mundie Moms today! Don't miss out on picking up Melissa's debut, which was released on November 20th, 2012 from Entangled Teen.

About The Book:

In the future, only one rule will matter:

Don’t. Ever. Peek.

Seventeen-year-old Ari Alexander just broke that rule and saw the last person she expected hovering above her bed — arrogant Jackson Locke, the most popular boy in her school. She expects instant execution or some kind of freak alien punishment, but instead, Jackson issues a challenge: help him, or everyone on Earth will die.

Ari knows she should report him, but everything about Jackson makes her question what she’s been taught about his kind. And against her instincts, she’s falling for him. But Ari isn’t just any girl, and Jackson wants more than her attention. She’s a military legacy who’s been trained by her father and exposed to war strategies and societal information no one can know — especially an alien spy, like Jackson. Giving Jackson the information he needs will betray her father and her country, but keeping silent will start a war.

About The Author:

Melissa lives in a tiny suburb of Atlanta, GA with her husband and daughter. She pretends to like yoga, actually likes shoes, and could not live without coffee. Her writing heroes include greats like Jane Austen and Madeleine L'Engle.

She holds a B.A. in Communication Studies and an M.S. in Graphic Communication, both from Clemson University. Yeah, her blood runs orange.

Mundane Monday #163: The Shadowhunters

Happy Mundane Monday! Today's feature is a teaser is an image from the trailer along with an explantation of what the Shadowhunters are.

“We are sometimes called the Nephilim. In the Bible they were the offspring of humans and angels. The legend of origin of Shadowhunters is that they were created more than a thousand years ago, when humans were being overrun by demon invasions from other worlds. A warlock summoned the Angel Raziel, who mixed some of his own blood with the blood of men in a cup, and gave it to these men to drink. Those who drank the Angel’s blood became Shadowhunters, as did their children and their children’s children.”

Raise your hand if you need to join a TMI Trailer Anonymous Group, because you can't stop watching the trailer. I know it's just a trailer, but I have waited a few years to see these characters come to life, and that trailer is awesome! It's hard not to want to sit down and watch it over and over again. Maybe by doing so the trailer will magically morph into a shortened version of the movie #IWish
