Blog Tour: The Moon and More by Sarah Dessen
Welcome to today's The Moon and More blog tour stop. I have just recently discovered my love for Sarah Dessen books, and now I finally understand why everyone runs out to snatch up her books. Her books are the perfect contemps to sit down with on a cold winter's day, or a sweltering one if you're here in the south. And, Sarah Dessen books make the perfect Valentine gift (cough, cough).
There’s no author who says “love” more than Sarah Dessen. And we don’t mean just romantic love (though she’s plenty good at that!). Sarah writes amazing, deep friendships, complex and true familial relationships, and, of course, swoony and wonderful first loves, so who better than Sarah to have a Valentine’s Day blog tour for her upcoming book, THE MOON AND MORE? Check with each blog every day for one of the 10 things you might like to know about THE MOON AND MORE that Sarah wrote herself.
Luke is the perfect boyfriend: handsome, kind, fun. He and Emaline have been together all through high school in Colby, the beach town where they both grew up. But now, in the summer before college, Emaline wonders if perfect is good enough.
Enter Theo, a super-ambitious outsider, a New Yorker assisting on a documentary film about a reclusive local artist. Theo's sophisticated, exciting, and, best of all, he thinks Emaline is much too smart for Colby.
Emaline's mostly-absentee father, too, thinks Emaline should have a bigger life, and he's convinced that an Ivy League education is the only route to realizing her potential. Emaline is attracted to the bright future that Theo and her father promise. But she also clings to the deep roots of her loving mother, stepfather, and sisters. Can she ignore the pull of the happily familiar world of Colby?
Emaline wants the moon and more, but how can she balance where she comes from with where she's going?
Sarah Dessen's devoted fans will welcome this story of romance, yearning, and, finally, empowerment. It could only happen in the summer.

Here’s the third of Sarah’s “10 Things You Might Like To Know About THE MOON AND MORE:
The narrator’s name is Emaline. Originally, I wanted to use the name Esme. I’d just read a memoir by Michael J. Fox, and he had a daughter with that name. (Yes, I get my names from everywhere and anywhere.) But when I Googled it, just to see what came up, I realized there was a Cullen in Twilight with the same name. Back to square one. I was listening to the radio in my car one day and this Ben Folds song came on: “Emaline.” And it was perfect.
