  • Talk about action packed and shocking discoveries! This chapter was loaded with it. I'm going to keep is simple today, were you surprised by Nate's admission to Tessa about who is mother is? What do you think he knows about Tessa's angel that he'd tell her to wear it at all times.
  • Do you think the Shadowhunters naming Charlotte, Will, and Tessa will recover in time to fight against Mortmain?
Please DO NOT POST SPOILERS. There's some fans who are joining the read-a-long who are reading Clockwork Prince for the first time.

  1. * So funny, I actually had totally forgotten about Nate's mom. I really do want to know what Nate knows about the angel necklace though. It is obvious that it protects her, but I want to know how and why. And where it came from.

    * I think that with their runes and The Silent Brothers they will all be healed quickly. I also have confidence that Gideon will be more than willing to help in any way that he can too.

    1. I totally forgot about who Nate's mom was too. I swear I've done that every time I've re-read CP and then I get to this chapter and go, " Oh yeah! I forgot about that." Lol

    2. I think it's funny how I forget certain things that seem major, but then remember things that don't really matter lol!!

  2. I remember being surprised when I first read CP, finding out that Tessa and Nate are not actually related. Although it does somewhat explain Nate's lack of feelings toward Tessa. He does appear to show some remorse at his end, but I don't believe that his remorse was genuine but that he simply fears where his actions will lead him after death.

I don't know what Nate could possibly know about Tessa's angel. Something Mortmain told him maybe, but I can't wait to discover what her angel actually does. It had been driving me mad since Clockwork Angel.

    1. I totally agree, I don't think Nate had real remorse. I think it was more remorse in that he failed to do what he wanted to.

  3. I had a feeling that they were not siblings because of Nate telling Tessa dressed as Jessamine that Tessa wasn't his sister. I'm a little shocked that Nate could have killed his own mother though. Yikes. I'm getting more curious about the Angel. Part of me hopes he was telling her to wear it to protect her, and not because Mortmain can trace it or anything evil like that.

Physically I think that everyone will recover just fine. They will be left with some emotional scares, but I think they will battle through it all.

    1. Oooh I hadn't thought of Mortmain being able to track the Angel. I really think Nate was being serious about wearing it. I think there's something more to the angel than it just being able to protect Tessa, like we witnessed in Clockwork Angel.

  4. Nate obviously had unresolved abandonment issues that made him *evil* As far as the angel goes, I'd like to think that Nate grew a conscience and knows that the angel protects Tessa (because that *seems* to be its function so far)....BUT I'm concerned that maybe there's seem kind of homing device in it ors something that will allow Mortmain to find her. If I sound paranoid, remember that this is Nate we're talking about....the mommie killer!

I hope that the Shadowhunters have some mighty powerful healing runes to heal them ASAP!!! Soooooo worried about Jem, Charlotte, andWill. Oh, and I almost forgot about Tessa's head injury! YIKES!

    1. Doesn't he remind you a bit of Jonathan, Clary's brother. Though I don't think Nate is as evil as Jonathan is. Nate to me is much more of a follower. You're the second person to mention the tracking device. I wonder if the Angel is that as well as a protector. Like maybe it was made to track Tessa, but somewhere along the way it became something else as well.

  5. OMG Such am intense chapter. So much was going on. It was crazy to find out who Nate's mother is. That was a plot twist I did not see coming. It is amazing how much more Nate knows than Tessa does. I am curious as to why he has so much more information than Tessa does. I am just as curious as Tessa is as to how her angel keeps protecting her. The angel seems to be the answer to everything.I am even more curious as to who made it for her. There are still so many unanswered questions...but all in good time I guess.

Nate has some serious issues but I do hope that is was at least a little sincere in his final moments. I can see why now that they are completly different people. Nate was always doing anything for his own gain and Tessa does anything to protect the people around her.

The Shadowhunters have to recover inorder to fight Mortmain and very quickly. Knowing them and the way they are especially Will, nothing is going to stop them even some injuries.

  6. Now we know why Aunt Harriet favored Nate so much, but why doesn’t Nate know who his father is? Wouldn’t he be who Aunt Harriet planned to marry? That can be hard information to find. I’m sure there was an engagement announcement in the paper somewhere, right? Unless Aunt Harriet was pregnant with someone else’s baby and her fiancĂ© didn’t know. Why kill her, Nate, if you still had questions for her? It’s also becoming more and more factual that Tessa’s mother was a Shadowhunter, as theorized. Elizabeth Moore must have been swapped with Adele Starkweather as babies, like Hyacinth hinted. But where did Elizabeth get that Angel necklace? It does now protect Tessa but can it do anything else? Nate has told Tessa to always wear it as his dying wish, but is that safe? Can we trust Nate now? As he died, he seemed concerned about Tessa wearing her necklace, and said he understood why Tessa would question his motives, but to do it anyway. I don’t know if that’s repentance or one last ditch effort to ruin Tessa’s life. The Angel has always protected Tessa, so maybe Nate is trying for reverse psychology? Knowing that Tessa doesn’t trust him, he tells her to wear the necklace as he believes she won’t do it simply because he of all people suggested it, leaving Tessa unprotected and aiding Mortmain in the end. Could it be that simple?

Will is in trouble. I don’t know if he’ll make it in time. Unless Mortmain attacks as soon as they get back to the Institute, the majority of the Shadowhunters should be ok. Tessa’s not looking so hot either. I wonder if they might try on iratze on her, since everyone seems to be under the impression that she is of Shadowhunter linage. Or would that still be too risky? I say wing it, throw an iratze on her and see what happens.

  7. ~I was shocked that Harriet was his mother; though now I understand why he was always saying that Tessa wasn't his sister. Nate probably knows the necklace's origin, and how it was made. I also wonder if it was made by the Shades, and somehow got into Tessa's mom's hands...

  8. I was so surprised that they are not related! I feel bad for Tessa because she was lied to. i think Nate knew the answer To the necklace. i think that at the end he felt guilty for what he had caused. he does love Tessa which is why im hoping he told her to wear it. to protect her

i really hope that everyone will be alright. i hope they have some runes that can help them.

  9. I'm not too surprised at Nate's admission about his mother. It certainly explains a lot of his anger, though I really think he totally went off the deep end with Mortmain's help.

I think he was sincere in telling Tessa to wear the angel at all times... that moment of clarity before death- realizing Tessa was his only family and loved him despite his betrayals. Wishful thinking on my part? And his final words? What more could he have done?

I hope everyone fully recovers- and quickly. I was so concerned for both Will and Tessa. And yay, Henry! How could Charlotte ever doubt his love?

  10. Nate's admission is quite shocking but that would explain where the obvious anger is coming from.
I think Nate knows that the angel can protect Tessa. (Although it is still a mystery as to how) My heart broke for Nate in this chapter. I just felt like out of all we've seen about him so far, this is where he comes close to being Tessa's brother. The things he said just seemed so sincere and I believe he wouldn't have become that "evil" if the circumstances were just different. Maybe he's just pushed over the edge.. or something..

I really, really hope they'd recover. They lost so much already and there's still the worst to come. I hope they'd take down Mortmain and soon (and maybe have their happy endings?).

  11. I was glad to Nate felt guilty himself. He knew more about the angel. I would love to know these answeres too. What is the angel? Why it protect Tessa? I was surprise for Nate's mother.
They will be ok. I hope they will stop Mortmain.

  12. I dont think Nate quite confirmed the fact that that she is the offspring of a shadownhunter though to be honest based on the theory Ive shared a couple of times over the past few days I have no doubt that's the case though I'm starting to think that Tessa's father may be a Fallen Angel rather than a demon..but I guess we will soon find out...
I felt absolutely not pitty for Nate when he was dying, I think he was kind of nice to Tessa in the end only because he was bleeding to death and he knew it... the one thing that left me with a big question mark was his insistence on her always wearing the angel.. I mean we have already seen the angel has some kind of power but we dont know what it is yet, so I was very intrigued by this.

To me the most emotion packed part of this chapter was before Nate showed up at the warehouse, I felt bad for Jem and Will and Charlotte when they found that werewolf dying of the effect of his yin fen addiction... I know that Will and Charlotte felt in their gut that one day that will be the fate Jem will be facing...I think that is why Will kept on vehemently saying that he was nothing like the werewolf and that he would not die like that, I dont think Charlotte was shocked by the actual werewolf dying right in front her but because she knew that this was also what's killing her Jem, i felt so bad for them all.

I can't stay anything about they recovering to fight against Mortmain as I already know the answer to that...
