The Clockwork Prince Read Along Day #24: The Last Day, Your Clockwork Princess Predictions

4 more days till Clockwork Princess is out!

Welcome to Day 24 of the Clockwork Prince Read Along. You can follow the entire read-a-long and find each of the day's posts here. Remember there's no right or wrong way to participate. Your comments can be as long or a short as you'd like them to be. You can answer 1 or each of the questions asked, it's totally up to you, BUT, in order to be entered into the CP giveaway (which you also had to sign up to win), you do need to be actively participating in the read-a-long.

I can not believe this is the last day of the Clockwork Prince Read Along! The past 24 days have flown by. THANK YOU to everyone who has participated in the read along. Even though life has gotten crazy for me the past two weeks with my daughter's surgery and everything else, and I've not been able to comment each day as I had planned, I have really enjoyed reading each of your responses. You guys have made the wait for Clockwork Princess so much more bearable.

Today's discussion is about: Your Clockwork Princess Predictions

Here's a quick CP recap: Clockwork Prince ends with Charlotte & Henry announcing they're having a baby, they're still running the Institute, Jem &  Tessa are engaged, Will's professed his love to Tessa, Tessa has some feelings for Will (that much is obvious), Sophie and Gideon have a secret thing going on, Cecily shows up at the institute, and all that's going on with Mortmain has become that much more twisted. I wonder what's going to happen to Jessamine.
  • I LOVE this series and do not want it to end. I think I'm more devastated over saying good bye to this series, than actually finding out what happens in this book. How are you preparing to say goodbye? I'm thinking if I refuse to read the last page of the book than it won't really be over haha
  •  QUESTION: What do you think is going to happen in Clockwork Princess? *there's no right or wrong way to answer. You can predict what will happen over all, or with one or two characters.
  •  My predictions: I have a lot of predictions for what I think will happen in Clockwork Princess, but I'd like to think that Tessa and Sherlock Holmes (played by Robert Downey Jr) run off together, leaving Magnus with both Will and Jem at the alter. Sophie and Gideon secretly get married, and Charlotte and Henry have their little boy...... Okay maybe not all of that is my prediction. I'll post my predictions in the comments below shortly.
* You can also talk about your Clockwork Princess predictions here on the Clockwork Princess Forum. There's also a place to talk about spoilers after you're read the book.

The Clockwork Princess WINNER will be announced tomorrow. I'll be picking up a copy of Clockwork Princess to get signed at this next Saturday's Clockwork Princess tour signing I'll be attending in CA.

  1. I love your prediction lol!!! I have no clue what will happen. I am thinking that Tessa will not end up with either Jem or Will, but I don't think it will really be her choice. I think she will have to leave them both behind. I don't think Mortmain will win, I think they will destroy him, but, I'm sure he has other wingmen left behind in his wake. I hope that Sophie and Gideon will actually get together. That would be awesome!! I also want Charlotte and Henry to have the baby, you know, once things are safer. :)

  2. I think, Tessa and Will will go to the future with a time machine (something like that).. haha Sophie and Gideon will marry. But I don't know what will happen with Jem.. I don't want Jem will be die, and I want Tessa will be with Will.. u.u

  3. But how will Will pass down his family name? We have to figure out how Stephen and Jace were able to be born...so either Tessa isn't sterile after all or Will finds someone else. I personally hope it's the first,
Sophie will most likely get together with Gideon,
Cecily might end up with Gabriel or Jem, but most likely Gabriel,
And maybe Jem becomes Brother Zachariah? Anything can happen.

  4. I would love the book if everyone lives happy, but i suspect it isn't going to finish like that. I am really going Jem won't die because they found a cure, but then how can Tessa be with Will. I dont jem to die, but i want Will to be happy with Tessa. i hope he or she doesn't sacrifice themselves. I Know that charlotte and Henry are having a baby. Hope nothing happens to them Sophie and Gideon will get married. I may not be sure of what is going to happen, but i know Cassie will make us cry!

  5. I would love to read a happy ending story. But It's not gonna happen. I have a divination to Will or Jem will be die. Maybe who will be die he will be sacrifice himself. We got a picture about Tessa with somebody in our time (Cassandra Jean's picture I guess). So I hope Tessa will be happy in our time. Brother Zachariah is Jem or Will I think. I hope that Sophie and Gideon will get married. Charlotte and Henry would be fantastic parents so I hope they will be fantastic parents. I hope the Shadowhunters will win this figth with Mortmain. Jessmine just a silly girl and I hope she will be ok. I have no idea what will be happen. This is what I would imagine (without Will's or Jem's die). But I think a few character will be die and a part of my soul will be die with them. This is a painful journey to us but it's fantastic at the same time. I will cry but I'm happy because Cassie wrote this story and these characters. And now we here and we will be cry and laugh together. Thanks for these days I loved it:)

  6. I HOPE MY WILL DOESNT HAVE TO GO THROUGH ANY MORE PAIN! Tessa and Will have to get together in a way in which Jem is happy and NOT dead. Okay these arn't predictions but aspirations LOL but still!!

  7. I am not sure what is going to happen. I really hope that either Jem or Will is not killed off, because I don't like when that is the solution to a love triangle. I feel like it's cheating. I think Will is going to live and maybe even end up with Tessa, but I'm not sure how.

I hope that Sophie and Gideon end up together and Sophie becomes a Shadowhunter. I think they will end up being Alec and Isabelle ancestors.

I hope Charlotte and Henry have a sweet little boy and continue to run the institute after they defeat Mortmain.

  8. #1 Henry and Charlotte: I think she will have her boy and Henry will die. Many believe that because Henry dies Charlotte goes back to Fairchild and that’s how we have the current ones… I on the other hand don’t think that’s the case at all. I mean how awful does that sound? If your husband died before his baby is born wouldn’t you feel even more inclined to give your baby his father’s name to honor him and preserve him name? It just makes no sense to me, the theory that just because he dies the baby no longer takes his father’s name.
The baby boy is without a doubt going to be Fairchild, because otherwise with Charlotte being the only child there is no other way for the Fairchild name to continue through time all the way to the present.
This is the thing… we have heard about the feud between Granville Fairchild I and Aloysius Starkweather but we don’t know what this feud was about, I have the suspicion we will find out in CP2, another thing Henry is from Yorkshire which we really didn’t know until he tells Charlotte that he wants to name the boy Beuford lol…. Why throw that random piece of information there at the very last minute? I think we will find more secrets coming from Yorkshire than we even imagine…. Which leads me to point #2

#2 This I have already mentioned. We know that Adele Starkweather dies at the age of 10 when she is marked for the first time, and we know that she was a sick and weak child. We also got the story about the changelings from Hyacinth at the Benedict party.
Conclusion: Adele Starkweather was taken by the fairies and raised by them, Adele Starkweather is Tessa’s mother.
Things that lead me to this conclusion? Hyacinth tells Tessa how much she looks like her mother, and we have the shock in Aloysius mind when he sees Tessa, I think he can see the resemblance with Adele in her. Second, after Hyacinth tells her the changeling story, and tells her that she will never age, she also says that she appreciates that service done to her.
I think the poor child that dies is the sickly faerie child that was left when the real Adele was taken.

#3 . I think Gabriel and Cecily will end up together, I suspect Gabriel will end up in the Institute at some point and will see the perfect opportunity to get back at Will for what he did to Tatiana by messing with Cecily, and will end up in turn falling in love with her... I think that's where the Lightwood and Herondale blood mixes and that's how we are going to have black hair blue eyed Robert Lightwood and it explains why Magnus finds that Alex resembles Will physically and it also explains Magnus comment when he tells Alec, that genetics are funny that all the Lightwoods had green eyes yet he inherited the blue ones...

#4 Gideon and Sophie I think will end up together but I also think that one of them will die, either Sophie or Gideon... though not before Sophie is allowed to ascend :) Maybe they both live and that would be wonderful but I dont know what I have the feeling that's not the case :( (cont...)

  10. #5 Will and Jem.... I have to combine these two because I have theories in my head that change every day, one day is Will the next is Jem LOL
I used to think that Will was going to die in the battle with Mortmain or become Brother Zachariah, now I'm not sure that he dies in CP2 after I saw the Tarot card that Cassandra Jean released last week. She has Will on the Nine of Steles, that stands for the Nine of Wands, and this card definately does not depict someone that dies at all.. first we have Will looking mournful and holding Jem's mother's Jade pendant, which should really be around Tessa's neck if Jem doesnt die.. the Nine of Wands is card that depicts an injured man that had survived battle, a man that has fought and won, he is shown drained and exhausted but ready to face the next fight. A man with determination in his eyes to overcome his final challenge and accomplish victory. A man who stands up for what he believes and holds firm in those beliefs.
Add to this the fact that when Zachariah goes to talk to Maryse Lightwood he tells her not to let fear for Jace consume her, because the Herondales are surivivors. I dont think Will is dying in CP2, whether he ends up with Tessa I dont know I mean he will eventually die of course since he is mortal but I dont think he will on CP2... but I do know that he will have a child with her... I think Tessa has strong connection to the angels and this is how the Angel Mark will go down to the Herondale generation, being the first child to bare it that of Tessa and Will.
Jem I'm more and more convinced that he either dies or becomes Brother Zachariah... or makes everyone believe that he has died and becomes Brother Zach, Brother Zachariah once tells the other brothers that they shouldnt harm Jace Herondale because there were strong ties between the Brotherhood and the Herondale family, of course later we see Brother Zach tell Maryse that he has special interest in the welfare of Jace, and when he goes to see Jocelyn at Magnus' house he tells her that he will keep all the secrets because saving the last of the Herondales was his first priority... all of this once made me think that Brother Zach was Will, but now I think it's Jem.... Brother Zachariah tells Maryse Lightwood that he never had children and I truly believe that Will be the direct ancestor of Jace. When Clary asks Brother Zachariah if he ever loved anyone enough to die for them, he answered that there were two people, and I think he is referring to Tessa and Will.

Where does Emma Carstairs descend from? I dont think it's Jem.... I think this will be an ascending family that will take the lost Carstairs name once it's only in the books when Jem dies (or becomes a Brother) since he is the last of the Carstairs at this point.

#6 Tessa. I think Tessa is the Seelie Queen... i dont think it's coincidence that the Seelie Queen is the most powerful faerie of them all... I dont think that it is coincidence that she shows up to talk to Clary at the Fireworks party in City of Glass and moments later we see Tessa talking to Magnus behind the trees, when Tessa and Clary lock gazes and Clary can swear she recognizes her eyes from somewhere but doesnt know from where...
the Seelie Queen also tells Clary if she thinks her mother told her all the truth or is she told her the truth that was convenient for her (Jocelyn) .. Tessa and Jocelyn know each other from years back, cause it is Tessa with Magnus and Brother Zachariah who perform that first ritual on Clary to protect her...
The Seelie Queen is special, no faerie marks have ever been mentioned on her and we know she is immortal and most powerful, and hard and cold.. and when I think of her I can only think of Tessa in her blood covered dress on the trailer asking... if you would damn the world in order to protect those you love, and she looks terrifying when she says "I would"

This has been so much fun you guys! Can't wait for CP2, after almost 3 years we finally get to find out how it all ends! I'm sooooooo very excited!

  11. Holy cow! I don't have so many predictions but it's certainly interesting reading everyone elses. My HOPE is Will and Tessa end up together. Jem- I just don't know but I'd hate to see him die here. Sophie and Gideon should marry. Gabriel with Cecily? Would Will let that happen? And the Branwell baby? So much can happen. So much to dread and wish for.

I definitely don't want this to end but I'm so anxious to see what happens next.

It's been so wonderful sharing all of this with all of you. So many thoughtful and insightful comments. And regardless of who we hope will end up with Tessa, the passion everyone shares for this trilogy is powerful and has made it so much fun. Thanks again everyone and especially to Katie- I hope your daughter is doing well. ;)

  13. I have no idea what happens in Clockwork Princess. I haven't read any spoilers intentionally because I want to be surprised. I don't think it will end happily. I know that Cassie has defended some of Libba Bray's unhappy endings as being wonderful, which scares me quite frankly. Plus, since it's a loose retelling of A Tale of Two Cities, it probably won't be all happy.

I do hope to see more of Tessa in TMI once TID is over. More than just a little glance beside a tree in Idris. ;P

Thanks so, so much for hosting. I have truly enjoyed it so much, and I wish that I could make it to one of the signings out west. So sad the bus tour isn't coming to the South!

  14. One of my bigger predictions is that Jem finds out about Will and Tessa and something happens with the three of them. Cassandra has said that we find out what Tessa is, but I'm not sure about what's possible, or not possible, for her to be. I want to find out what happens between Sophie and Gideon, and I'm hoping that they'll become a couple. Most of my thoughts on Clockwork Princess, though, are just opinions on snippets and characters that Cassie has told us about.

  15. At this point, everyone’s predictions sound simultaneously insane and reasonable. I’m glad to see Brother Zachariah name in so many people’s minds. I never would have made that connection. I know he said he loved two people, and I know he had a strange interest in Jace, but I never thought to put Will or Jem into that scenario. Or Henry, for that matter. Maybe Brother Zachariah is Henry? I’m really excited to see how that plays out.

I also always assumed Jem and Will would live because they have descendants and are the only remaining male members of their family, unless Edmund has another son all of a sudden. But reading the prediction that explains Ascendants taking the names of lost Shadowhunter families, it would explain why there would be descendants in TMI. So really, it’s a toss up. I also thought it was odd that the Lightwoods are blonde with green eyes in TID but dark haired in TMI. Where did the blue eyes come from? Or Isabelle’s black ones? I don’t know, but it is interesting to think if maybe the Herondales and the Lightwoods are more closely related that previously thought. And I assumed Charlotte had a male cousin on the Fairchild side that could carry on the name. I don’t remember seeing Branwell in TMI so maybe that name will die out in TID…leaving all three Branwells dead. Lovelace isn’t in TMI either now that I think of it.

If Tessa is the Seelie Queen my mind will be blown. That is an INSANE theory that is terrifying to entertain. No one likes the Seelie Queen. Now I’m racking my brain wondering if Tessa has ever really directly lied in the story, and I think she has, so does that mean if she is the Seelie Queen, she can lie, unburdened by Faerie rules? I feel like the Seelie Queen has always been forced to be truthful, but maybe she can lie and we just never realized it. I would be devastated to find out Tessa is the Seelie Queen but that is such a satisfying plot twist. I’ll hate it if it happens though, but it’s so good I can’t walk away from it. And it explains that crazy book trailer with Tessa all Carrie looking! But then…where does that leave Will or Jem? Dead or as a Silent Brother? That’s a sad end for them and I don’t want that to happen.

Honestly, at this point I hope everybody dies. I just can’t handle it anymore, all this wondering and worrying! Just kill everyone off and start fresh. There are worse fates than death. I wonder if that Clockwork Angel is actually an angel trapped inside a necklace or connected to an Angel somehow because I am wondering which Herondale met an angel. If it’s not Will then is it his child? Who is the mother? Is it Tessa? Could Jace be part Faerie if his ancestor was/is the Seelie Queen? Why did Tessa become the Seelie Queen then? Because she’s immortal and alone without Will? But what if Will just dies? There’s just too much to consider! The more I think about it, the more I think Clockwork Princess is going to be an epic finale!

AND WHO KNOWS WHAT MORTMAIN IS UP TO! I’m worrying about so many other things that I don’t even have time to consider that Clockwork army he’s building. He’s not winning obviously. Shadowhunters continue to exist on to TMI and TDA.

Lastly, to throw in another thought to give everyone a headache, Magnus sought the Gray Book in TMI and he knew there was a spell in the book that could make an immortal, mortal. Camille knew this was a possibility as well. But how did they know? Unless Magnus cast the spell before…on Tessa.
Let that sink in for a moment.
So say Tessa isn’t the Seelie Queen. Instead Tessa gives up her immortality to be with the man she loves. Maybe the woman Magnus saw in CoG just looked like Tessa? But that seems like too big a coincidence right? So maybe Tessa was going to make herself mortal, but then changed her mind. But why?

I hope something weird happens and I get the book before everyone else, so I can just know sooner, rather than later.

    1. My GAWD! My head is officially spinning. I don't know when I'll get to read CP2. It's going to drive me mad wondering. It will be near impossible to avoid all the spoilers.

  16. I love reading through all your predictions. I honestly have no idea what to expect but lots of heartbreak and an ending we won't see coming. I am hoping that all works out for everyone but that can't happen. First, Henry and Charlotte have to have their baby. That has to be how their line continues. Second, they will defeat Mortmain but we will get all our answers as to why this is being done, Will's family's role in the whole thing and what Tessa's role is in the grand plan. Third, Jem will die unfortunatley. I just don't see a way around it and it will kill both Will and Tessa and they will not be together. Fourth, Will end up woth someone else obviously because there will be no Jace if his birth line does not continue.Unless fifth he is a desendent of Cecily in which case she turns out to be good and finds a Shadowhunter to love. Only a short time left. I can't wait. This has been so much fun and I want to thank you for setting this up. I have enjoyed seeing what others think and see how other people see the chapters playing out and their point of views.

  17. Honestly? I'm not sure what to say about what my predictions are.. I have all these crazy ideas that form in my mind so I guess I'll tell you the ones that I have strong feelings about. First of all, I think they'll finally (finally!) bring down Mortmain. (Nothing ends without the enemy being defeated) And Tessa's birth and the mystery that surrounds her will finally be revealed.
Secondly, Henry and Charlotte will have a baby. I have a theory that the baby will be a boy and he'll continue the Branwell line and lead just as his parents do.
Third, if Jem learns just what Tessa and Will really feels for each other, I have a feeling Tessa would end up with neither boy. If it comes to it, Tessa wouldn't choose between them 'cause she knows nothing good will come from it - she'll hurt both of them and herself.
Lastly, I have a feeling we'll have a glimpse of the Herondale family. I think Cecily will play a big role in that. Also, maybe Will would finally agree to write to his parents or even see them.

It's really nice to see the CP2 predictions of other TID-lovers. It's fun reading them and I do agree with some of them.
There is so much I cannot wait to see in Clockwork Princess. I am very excited and honestly quite scared and a bit disappointed that it's going to end already.
The read-along was great.. thanks for hosting! :)

  19. Lots of crazy, wonderful and possible predictions. Reading all those spectulations is exciting and down right scary. The anticipation is killing me. But like Diana, I'm not ready to see it end and it terrifies me a bit. Cassie is unpredictable and isn't afraid to break our hearts or kill us all.
