Cassie Answers More Clockwork Princess Q&A

Clockwork Angel by baynary
Cassie answered more Clockwork Princess Q and As on her tumblr yesterday. If you haven't read CP2, yet, turn away. But, I'm thinking most Mundie Moms have read it by now.

It’s been long enough that I am not putting this under a cut, but if you have not read Clockwork Princess do not read on because here be spoilers. Mostly about Tessa.

"I’m hoping you’l answer my question regarding the Silent Brothers and Iron Sisters. So in order to be a Silent Brother you’ll have to be a guy and Iron Sister is to be a female?"
Yep. As we know from CoLS, male Shadowhunters aren’t even allowed into the Adamant Citadel to ask questions, much less become Iron Sisters.

And you also mentioned that Shadowhunter blood is always the dominant one, but how come Tessa remains as a warlock and did not receive any runes although she has shadowhunter blood? — spazzerism"
Because it’s not me mentioning these things — it’s the books. Specifically, the characters in the books. And they can only tell you what they know or believe to be true. They can’t tell you about things that are completely outside the realm of their experience.
When Jem says “Shadowhunter blood is dominant" he’s doing the same thing Will does in Clockwork Prince when he says “All children of Shadowhunters and demons are stillborn." He is saying what he knows to be true. The offspring of humans and Shadowhunters, werewolves and Shadowhunters, faeries and Shadowhunters, are all Shadowhunters. He can’t speak to the existence of the offspring of demons and Shadowhunters because as far as he knows there never have been any and there never will be. It’s as relevant as discussing the offspring of Shadowhunters and cucumbers.
Same with Will saying the offspring of demons and Shadowhunters are stillborn: it’s always been true so why would he think there would be an exception? Tessa is unique. There never was a Tessa before Tessa and there never is again, since the clockwork angel is destroyed in CP2.
Things characters say are not always true. They are always the truth as the character knows it.

“Hey Cassie! I was thinking about the drawing of Magnus, Tessa and Simon at the graves of their loved ones and it occurred to me if there is any way for immortals like them to die? — blindingly-seeing"
Sure. A piano could fall on Tessa or Magnus and kill them anytime. Simon could be burned to death or staked. Immortal is not invulnerable. :)

"Hi Cassandra I absolutely Love your work and can say that the Shadowhunter Series have been my all time favorite books EVER! I had a question regarding Tessa and Jem. Will we be seeing Both Tessa and Jem in Heavenly Fire book? I would love to imagine both worlds combining into the final epic book. Some hope please! =D — isabela309"
Well, I’ve said we’ll get the answer to Jem’s “cure" in City of Heavenly Fire, and we will. But as to how much Jem appears in the book, or whether Tessa appears at all, I can’t say. That information will have to wait for release day. :)
