Consume Blog Tour: A Letter from Savannah to Her Younger Self + Giveaway

Many thanks to Melissa Darnell and Harlequin Teen for including Mundie Moms in their Consume Blog Tour. Our exclusive content today is a letter from Savannah to her younger self:

Dear (Younger) Savannah,
Thanks to the invention of time travel, I can now write this letter and send it back in time to you.
And it’s a good thing, too, because you are in serious and dire need of a heads up!
Okay, I won’t waste time trying to tell you not to date Tristan. We both know that’s a lost cause.
What I will tell you is the following...
1. Every time you two kiss, you know how it feels like you’ve just swallowed down the sun itself because you’re so full of light and energy? Yeah, well, there’s a reason for that, and it’s a simple one...you’re draining his energy! I know you’re not going to be able to resist kissing him. So instead I’ll just advise you two to take your butts outdoors somewhere he can touch the ground and draw up replacement energy while you kiss. Otherwise you risk KILLING HIM WITH YOUR KISSES!
2. Sorry for the shouting. On to the next bit of advice, and this one’s really tough. Know that your love for Tristan may cost you in more ways than you can even imagine. We’ve lost loved ones because we broke the rules and dated him. Which leads to...
3. Don’t lie to Mom and Nanna about dating Tristan! At least give them a heads up that you two are wreaking all kinds of potential havoc together so Nanna can beef up her protection spells around the house! Seriously, this just might save lives. Of course, it might also make them come up with ways to keep you and Tristan apart.
4. Remember nothing lasts forever. Unless you’re a vampire. This one you’ll have to learn for yourself to get the full impact of the lesson. But maybe hearing this from your future self will help you have the patience, stamina, and inner strength you’re going to need during the hard times. Because there will be hard times, really tough ones that feel like they’re going to last forever. But they will eventually pass, so hang in there and have faith! Things have a way of working out in the end.
5. This is sort of the same thing, but I really want you to hear and understand me on this. Sometimes the saddest, scariest, most awful beginnings can lead to the most amazingly wonderful endings. You’re going to go through some stuff that will make you question everything...who and what you are, your family’s love for you and yours for them, even the very world you live in and your feelings for Tristan. You’re going to wonder if enduring it all is even worth it, and maybe it would be better just to crawl into a hole somewhere and hide for the rest of your life instead. But I swear IT WILL GET BETTER, and it’s all worth it in the end. Well, most of it. Which leads to...
6. Regrets are inescapable. We make mistakes. I could fill up books worth of advice to try and save you from making mistakes, but then you’d only find different ones to make instead. So live your life and cut yourself some slack, but also make sure you learn from every mistake so it wasn’t pointless to experience it.
You’re going to be fine (obviously, otherwise how would I be writing this letter to you from the future? LOL). Hold onto the people you love loosely but with gratitude, and tell them you love them every day, because you never know when you might lose them. Appreciate the beauty and the fun that each day offers. Don’t mope around, or you’ll miss out on the silver lining in every situation. And keep dancing, even if it’s just in your bedroom where no one but your mirror can see, because your love for it is a part of you and your natural way of expressing whatever you feel right then in that moment!
I love you (and believe me, that wasn’t always the case). And though it won’t make sense now, I forgive you.
It’s going to be okay.
Love,
Your older self from the future

Tristan Coleman has survived the change from Clann magic user to vampire, much to Savannah Colbert's joy—and despair. By changing the Clann's golden boy and newly elected leader, even to save him from death, she has unleashed a fury of hatred and fear that they cannot escape.

As the Clann and the vampire council go to war, Tristan and Sav face a new threat—a fracturing of the all-consuming bond they share. To fight for peace, they must forge a new trust and risk everything to take down their deadliest enemy, even as they must run for their lives. Soon they will learn that some bonds are stronger than love—and some battles cannot be won without sacrifice.
