'The City of Ashes' To Move Forward in 2014

City-Of-Ashes-Wallpaper-mortal-instruments-9793288-1280-1024

We are so happy for Cassie Clare and the TMI Fandom! It was announced this morning that Constantin Films will be moving forward with City of Ashes. According to The Hollywood Reporter - Constantin is pushing ahead with its adaptations of Cassandra Clare’s best-selling Mortal Instruments franchise and plans to restart production on the second film in the series, The Mortal Instruments: City of Ashes, next year. On the fan reaction...
"The fan response, from the blogosphere and the thousands of mails we have received, has encouraged us to keep going,” Moszkowicz told The Hollywood Reporter. “It's been overwhelmingly positive, in contrast to some other YA titles.”
On repositioning...
“We are analyzing what we did wrong with the first film, particularly with the positioning and marketing, and what changes we have to make. We are working with a great group of people to reposition the franchise (for City of Ashes).”
On the fan base...
“The readers of Mortal Instruments are older than you might think,” he said. “That may have been one issue in our marketing, that we focused too much on a very young audience segment."
Who's excited to see this movie!?!

@YALLFest Author Interview: Michelle Hodkin

It's about that time of year when fans start gearing up for one of the biggest book festivals in the nation, and the biggest in the south, YALL FEST (follow them on Twitter)! This year over 40 YA authors will  be there including Veronica Roth!

To prepare fans for the big event, we're among a group of bloggers who will be featuring authors and sharing author interviews. You can see some of the ones we've already posted here. Today we have author Michelle Hodkin on the blog!

Describe your book in 5 words
Romeo and Juliet meets Hitchcock

What is the hardest line to write- the first or the last?
I spend a lot of time thinking about my first lines. A lot of time. Too much time. Luckily the last lines usually come to me as I write.

What is your favorite genre to write in? To Read?
What I love about YA is that I don't have to choose a genre. I can blend elements and mess with conventions from all of them—horror, mystery, sci-fi, fantasy, whatever. I'm not sure I could choose a favorite, if I were ever told that I had to. And my reading is all over the place, but right now I'm reading a lot of old school sci-fi and fantasy, with some literary fiction thrown in.

What one young adult novel do you wish you had when you were a teen? Why?
The Magicians by Lev Grossman. It's not YA, but it is about a teenager who reminds me of my teen self. And maybe also my adult self. Anyway. I basically push the book into the hands of everyone I meet. It's just that good.

What are you working on now?
A secret project that is secret. But I'm wildly excited about it, and I think my readers will be too.

About the Book

Mara Dyer doesn’t think life can get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there.
It can.

She believes there must be more to the accident she can’t remember that killed her friends and left her mysteriously unharmed.
There is.

She doesn’t believe that after everything she’s been through, she can fall in love.
She’s wrong.

The Last of the Shadowhunter Tarot Cards

Cassie posted the last of the Shadowhunter Tarot Cards! I can't wait to see how these look when they're made available to purchase. Here's what she posted:
No, I am just lazy and got distracted. I have no excuses! The last card posted was the Five of Runes, so here is the Six and Seven of Runes to get back on track. Runes=cups in the traditional tarot. The first is the rune for parabatai:

And the second is the rune for agape. Agape is selfless, unconditional love that borders on the divine.

for in companions
Whose souls do bear an equal yoke of love,
There must be needs a like proportion
Of lineaments, of manners, and of spirit
