Top Ten Tuesday: 10 Books Friends Have Been Telling Me To Read

It’s time for another Top 10 Tuesday (hosted at The Broke and the Bookish). Today's topic is "10 Books Friends Have Been Telling Me To Read".

I really wish I had more time to read all the books that are waiting for me to review, the books I have bought that I want to read, and the recommendations from many of you. I swear sometimes time is NOT a readers best friend. haha. Here are some of the books that I have been told numerous times, that I need to read and feature on my Mundie Moms or Mundie Kids.

1) The Harry Potter series

- Let's be honest, this one series I'm ashamed to say I've been stuck on book 4 for a couple years now. It's not because I don't like this series, because I do. It's because there are so many other books that have come out since I've started this series that I want to read. Also, I wish I had started reading this series long before the movies came out. Seeing the movies first ruined my wanting to read the books. Hence the reason why I have NOT seen the last 3 Harry Potter movies, even though I already know what happens at the end.

After years of friends trying to get me to read this series, I finally picked up Outlander (which has been sitting on my shelf for almost 5 yrs now). Surprisingly, I started reading it after I watched the first episode of Outlander. I am not sure why it's taking me so long to pick this book up. I love history, romance, and Scotland. I'm almost done with Outlander, and wow, what a fabulous read! I am totally hooked, and will be getting the second book soon.

This has been one of the most recommended series from readers whom would like to see this series featured on Mundie Moms. I finally started book 1: Storm, this past week. Now I understand why it's been so recommended. I'll be reviewing the first book soon here on the blog. Thank you for all the recs to read it!

This is another series that for some reason has been on my shelves, but I have yet to pick it up. I've heard nothing but great things about it, and I've been told numerous times that I need to hurry up and read it. I've got the entire series sitting in my library, waiting for me to read it, which I'm hoping to do very soon.

This is book I purchased because of how many friends have told me I need to read this. From everything I've heard about it, I know I'll totally enjoy it, if not love it, but right now I just need time to read it.

Ruta's debut, Between Shades of Gray is one of them most moving books I've read and it's still one I highly recommend to others. It's so moving, and thought provoking. When Out of Easy was released I went out and purchased it, and have yet to read it, and I don't even know why. Friends have told me I need to read it.

I know! Another book that many people have read, and I've yet to read. Again, this is one of those books I own, and I've been wanting to read it, but I'm totally freaked out about reading it, because friends of told me they cried while reading it, and I just can't do an emotional read like that. Although, everyone told me the same thing about The Fault In Our Stars (which I finally read this year), and I cried maybe twice. So, maybe I should pull this book off my shelf and give it a go.

Again, this is another series that like Harry Potter, came out while I was in college or just out of college, I never read them, nor did they peak my interest until a couple years ago. While I own some of his books, I've yet to read them despite how many times I've been told I need to read them. I had even planned on reading this book to my son when he was younger, not that he's old now or anything.  Now that my son is at the age of getting into his books, I'll definitely be reading them.

This series is one of the most recommended MG series recently. I'll admit, I've wanted to read them, but just haven't. I purchased the first book when it came out, and for some reason the 3rd one when it was recently released. As soon as I find book 2, I'll start this series.

Long before this book reached (finally) US soil, this was a book that one of my lovely friends, Em (our lovely friend from Australia), whom some of you will know from our Mundie Moms forums and on Twitter, recommended me to Sophie & I. In fact she sent us both a copy of the book. Sadly again, this is another book that she and others has told me I need to read, but it's been sitting on my shelf. After BEA, the buzz for this book grew. While I don't have a US copy of the copy, I am really excited to dive into the Australian copy (who's cover is shown above) that I have.

What are some books that are constantly recommend to you, that you've yet to read?

  1. I haven't read the Book Thief either for the same reason. I like happy reads. I really want to read the Colfer books too, they look great.

  2. I second Harry Potter and The Selection. The Selection series defiantly has it's problems, but it is a really fast, fun read.
