In the unforgiving Mesopotamian desert where Jayden’s tribe lives, betrothal celebrations abound, and tonight it is Jayden’s turn to be honored. But while this union with Horeb, the son of her tribe’s leader, will bring a life of riches and restore her family’s position within the tribe, it will come at the price of Jayden’s heart.

Then a shadowy boy from the Southern Lands appears. Handsome and mysterious, Kadesh fills Jayden’s heart with a passion she never knew possible. But with Horeb’s increasingly violent threats haunting Jayden’s every move, she knows she must find a way to escape—or die trying.

With a forbidden romance blossoming in her heart and her family’s survival on the line, Jayden must embark on a deadly journey to save the ones she loves—and find a true love for herself.

Set against the brilliant backdrop of the sprawling desert, the story of Jayden and Kadesh will leave readers absolutely breathless as they defy the odds and risk it all to be together.

About the Author

I grew up in San Francisco, but now live in an adobe house on the banks of the Rio Grande with my chaotic, messy family. I think I've drunk so much Land of Enchantment water that some of that ancient magic got into my blood and now spurts out my pencil—I mean ergonomic keyboard. I’ve been scribbling stories since I was a kid and it’s a thrilling dream-come-true to see them on the bookstore and library shelves.

I make way too many cookies when I'm revising - and I've got the best book trailers ever - for reals! Check them out on my website or Youtube.
I’ve stayed in a haunted castle tower room at Borthwick Castle in Scotland, sailed on the Seine in Paris, walked the beaches of Normandy, ridden a camel in Petra, sunbathed on Waikiki, shopped the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul, and spent the night in an old Communist hotel in Bulgaria.
P.S. I also write award-winning middle-grade novels with Scholastic. :-)

Ruin & Rising by Leigh Bardugo | Illusions of Fate by Kiersten White; Cover Reveals & Other Bookish News

What an exciting past couple of days it's been in the YA world. Check out these two AWESOME covers! Seriously, can we please already have these books in our hands?!

SOLDIER. SUMMONER.
SAINT.
IN THE FINAL BATTLE, WHO WILL RISE?
The capital has fallen. The Darkling rules Ravka from his shadow throne.
Now the nation’s fate rests with a broken Sun Summoner, a disgraced tracker, and the shattered remnants of a once-great magical army.
Deep in an ancient network of tunnels and caverns, a weakened Alina must submit to the dubious protection of the Apparat and the zealots who worship her as a Saint. Yet her plans lie elsewhere, with the hunt for the elusive firebird and the hope that an outlaw prince still survives.
Alina will have to forge new alliances and put aside old rivalries as she and Mal race to find the last of Morozova’s amplifiers. But as she begins to unravel the Darkling’s secrets, she reveals a past that will forever alter her understanding of the bond they share and the power she wields. The firebird is the one thing that stands between Ravka and destruction—and claiming it could cost Alina the very future she’s fighting for.

WOW! What a cover! I want that tea cup... or like a poster of this cover to hang in my office. This is one amazing cover. Look at the detail on that tea cup. Yes, I'm a bit obsessed with this cover right now. Here's what Kiersten White said about her cover:

Man, oh man. I'll admit, I didn't know what they were going to do for this one. I gave them a book with a historical fantasy setting based on Edwardian England (but not actually Edwardian England). So it had magic, but also a recognizable setting. Fancy dresses! Teacups! Bewitched birds! And, at the center of it all, Jessamin, a girl feeling very small and alone in a country far, far from the beautiful island she'd grown up on. They had to come up with a cover that somehow captured all of that.

AND THEY DID.

Anyway. Gah. So gorgeous. And that tagline kills me. Thank you, HarperTeen and my designer Michelle Taormina, for once again working your cover magic!

It doesn't come out until September, but here, have a blurb from Stephanie Perkins, internationally bestselling author of Anna and the French Kiss and Lola and the Boy Next Door:

Illusions of Fate is an absolute delight—a magical, sparkling, dangerous world with witty repartee and a romance that will light your heart on fire. Kiersten White’s best yet.”

Love.

I first saw the reveal from Stephanie Perkins who shared the AWESOME cover for Kiersten White's fall release of ILLUSIONS of FATE and let fans know that for a limited time you can read MIND GAMES for free! Check out what she said here

Check out what's new with Jennifer L. Armentrout! She shared that her THE DARK ELEMENTS will be coming on 2/25!! Loved the Bitter Sweet Love & White Hot Kiss. I can't wait to see what will be this site for her newest series.

Valentine's Day Snippet from City of Heavenly Fire!

Shadowhunters, have you checked out Cassie's latest teaser from City of Heavenly Fire? Check it out here:

“Julian,” said Jia, in the same gentle voice, “would you do something for us? Would you take up the Mortal Sword?”
Clary sat up straight. She had held the Mortal Sword: she had felt the weight of it. The cold, like hooks in your skin, dragging the truth out of you. You couldn’t lie holding the Mortal Sword, but the truth, even a truth you wanted to tell, was agony.
“They can’t,” she whispered. “He’s just a kid —“
“He’s the oldest of the kids who escaped the Institute,” Jace said under his breath. “They don’t have a choice.”
Julian nodded, his thin shoulders straight. “I’ll take it.”
Robert Lightwood passed behind the podium then and went to the table. He took up the sword and returned to stand in front of Julian. The contrast between them was almost funny: the big, barrel-chested man and the lanky, wild-haired boy.
Julian reached a hand up and took the sword. As his hand closed around the hilt, he shuddered, a ripple of pain that was quickly forced down. Emma, behind him, started forward, and Clary caught a glimpse of the look on her face — pure fury — before Helen caught at her and pulled her back.

Oooh..... Man now we have to wait till May to find out who's butt Clary kicks. lol
