Katy knows the world changed the night the Luxen came.

She can't believe Daemon welcomed his race or stood by as his kind threatened to obliterate every last human and hybrid on Earth. But the lines between good and bad have blurred, and love has become an emotion that could destroy her—could destroy them all.

Daemon will do anything to save those he loves, even if it means betrayal.

They must team with an unlikely enemy if there is any chance of surviving the invasion. But when it quickly becomes impossible to tell friend from foe, and the world is crumbling around them, they may lose everything— even what they cherish most—to ensure the survival of their friends…and mankind.

War has come to Earth. And no matter the outcome, the future will never be the same for those left standing.

Why are so many of my favorite series ending?! I swear 2014 is the year where many of my favorite series ended, and the year I put off reading the last book in each of those series. If I put off reading the last book, than the series doesn't end. At least in my mind it works that way. *sigh*

I enjoyed being back in Katy and Daemon's world, though this world has gotten a little crazy, thanks to a crazy Luxen invasion. I mean crazy, as in there were a few things that I was definitely not excepting in the beginning  of the book character wise. I'll admit, I was a little worried there for a bit when it came to Daemon and Dee. Thankfully this story is told in both Katy and Daemon's point of view, because if it wasn't, I may have wanted to jump through the book and throttle a few characters. Trust me, there's a reason for why characters act the way the do at the beginning. I won't say any more than that. You'll definitely know what I'm talking when you start reading the book.

Katy is fabulous. Her character has definitely come full circle. I felt this was the book where she finally felt comfortable in her own skin, and embraced what she's truly capable of doing. She is one bada** character! She not only holds her, she can inflict some major damage on those who are attacking the people she cares about most. Katy deals with some crazy stuff in this book. Emotionally I wanted to curl up in a fetal position for her and start rocking. She's tough, and incredibly strong. Though she understandably breaks down, she finds that inner strength and holds herself together, and keeps going. I loved seeing her become this fierce fighter, and incredibly strong character. She proved she can definitely hold her own with the Luxen. I admit, I was totally cheering her on when she kicked some crazy alien butt in this book, as was Daemon.

Daemon Black. I didn't think I could like him any more than I already did, but he proved me wrong. I loved his character in Opposition. Like Katy, Daemon comes full circle, and I admit, I think I fell in love with his character all over again. I loved seeing him with Katy, and getting to see his love for her through his point of view. I liked seeing how effected he is by Katy and all that she deals with. I'll admit, his comments about seeing her kick some Luxen butt had me laughing. He's such a guy. With his human tendencies, I kept forgetting he definitely not a human, though he's very much a guy. Armentrout writes his points of view perfectly. I loved what I got from Daemon in Opposition. There's so much more to him than his banter, and sarcastic comments. He is just as fierce at protecting those he loves as Katy is. I loved the way he protects her and just loves her. I also admired him for allowing Katy to fight her own fights, but he's there when she needs him to be. If Daemon Black didn't have you swooning before, he'll have you swooning now.

Armentrout does such an amazing job with not only telling me, but showing me just how much Daemon and Katy love each other. I loved seeing how they grew closer together, and fall more love with each other, both together, and individually. Getting to read from both of their points of views was fabulous. Katy and Daemon love each other just fiercely as the other. Seeing their need, their want, and their hope took their relationship to a real, much deeper level. I loved it. Everything centers around the two of them. They both make some hard choices, and sacrifice a lot for the other. I love it when things seem impossible, how they found hope in one another. I know, it sounds cheesy, but I promise you it's not. Don't worry, their banter is still great, and holy hotness, there are few scenes between the two of them that are, well hot! Daemon and Katy's relationship is one of my favorites in YA books, and I loved how Armentrout brought it full circle in this book.

Armentrout does a fabulous job at creating secondary characters I end up caring apart. My favorite of her secondary characters in this book is Archer. No wait, Hunter. No wait, Dawson. On second thought maybe it's Luc. Okay, I liked all of them. I enjoyed getting to know them, and love what each character brought to the story. I also like the way they gave dish it back to Daemon. I love the banter between these guys, although my favorite is the bantering between Katy and Daemon. No one in this series can top these two, and their mouths.

Opposition is the perfect ending for a fantastic series. Jennifer L. Armentrout gives fans everything they've loved about this series, and then some, in Opposition. This book has everything I hoped it would, and more. The bantering, sarcasm, sizzling character chemistry, drama, action, heart breaking moments, moments that made me laugh out loud, and more that I've enjoyed through out the series are definitely apart of this book. What I loved about this book is how Armentrout gives fans a conclusion that is so perfectly fitting for fans of the series. She doesn't just loosely wrap everything up. Each of the characters receives an ending that is fitting for them, given all that goes down in Opposition. If you've not yet picked up this series, I highly recommend that you do!

Shadows in featured in the Special Collector's Edition of LUX: OPPOSITION

The last thing Dawson Black expected was Bethany Williams. As a Luxen, an alien life form on Earth, human girls are…well, fun. But since the Luxen have to keep their true identities a secret, falling for one would be insane. Dangerous. Tempting. Undeniable.

Bethany can’t deny the immediate connection between her and Dawson. And even though boys aren’t a complication she wants, she can’t stay away from him. Still, whenever they lock eyes, she’s drawn in. Captivated. Lured. Loved.

Dawson is keeping a secret that will change her existence...and put her life in jeopardy. But even he can’t stop risking everything for one human girl. Or from a fate that is as unavoidable as love itself.

Lux fans don't want to miss reading this one! Whether you've just started the series, or haven't yet picked this series up, Shadows is a prequel you can read at any time. It's one I'd definitely recommend reading. Fans will enjoy getting a glimpse into Dawson and Bethany's beginning.
