Before I share my tips, a word from LEIGH BARDUGO, herself!
Thanks for being a stop on the tour, Katie! Hopefully I'll see you in Texas soon. Assuming I make it there, because I have no business giving advice on survival of any kind. I don't even go camping. When the zombie apocalypse comes, you will find me lying on the floor eating Cheetos. I regularly tip over when I'm doing anything more challenging than trying to stand still. I once ate a calla lily on a dare and had to be rushed to the emergency room. I got a concussion falling off of bleachers in a mascot costume. Look, I'd like to tell you I'm exaggerating, but I'd be lucky to last 24 hours in the Grishaverse. Volcra. Muggings. Maybe just a stray bullet. Who knows how I'd go? If I could choose, I think I'd get tipsy on champagne at a party at the Little Palace, wade into the lake, and sink peacefully to the bottom burbling, "I regret nothing." But if you can't go out like that, hopefully the suggestions you come up with will help you survive.
For those you have read the book, you know the Grishaverse is kinda like hell, or at least maybe close to it. It's not a place you'd want to be wondering around in. Okay let's be honest, most of us wouldn't be caught dead there. haha no pun intended. However, chances are if you followed these 6 survival tips, you may survive it.
Six Survival Tips for Surviving The Grishaverse
1. Except the Unexpected.
Be prepared for any and all situations. Know that
2. Determination.
Never give up or give in. No matter how dark and troubling the world is around you, don't forget your cause in the fight. Never lose your hope. Stay strong, and strong willed. Your determination will be your saving grace.
3. Know Your Enemy.
Knowledge is power in this world. Kaz is a great example of that. It also comes at a price. In a world where loyalty can also be purchased, it's important to know your enemy like you know your friends.
4. Never Underestimate The Power of a Grisha
I really don't think this needs explaining. However, if you find yourself lucky enough to have a Grisha on your side, I will caution, know what you need when it comes to the type of Grisha you wish to use. Never underestimate their power. Use this survival tip wisely.
5. Don't Show Emotion & Don't Lose Yourself
Emotion is a weapon that can be used against you. Do not show emotion. No matter what. Also, do not lose site of who are you. The Grishavesre is a dark and dangerous world with many enticing things. Do not lose yourself to this world.
6. Trust.
This is easier said than done. See survival tip #3 for why. However, no one can survive this world alone. If you can't trust those close to you, than you're as good as dead. You have to be able to allow those who are close to you, in. Their trust in crucial in this world.

These survival tips are making me want an apocalypse to happen so I can try to survive. haha!! Seriously need to read Six of Crows. I think it just jumped to the top of my tbr!
ReplyDeleteSurvival tips for the Grishaverse, or for the real world? (I know which one I'd rather be in, though). It comes out today! Can't wait to get my grubby, otkazat’sya-swine hands on it!
ReplyDeleteHa! I'm sure Kaz trusts no one, except maybe Inej. If I were in his crew, would I trust him? I suppose you would kind of have to... definitely expect the unexpected, that's a good one. Hopefully I wouldn't be the first one dead, in the Grishaverse! :D
ReplyDeleteThank you, Katie and Leigh!
Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
Knowledge is power...definitely useful in the real world as well
ReplyDeleteKeep calm and stick 'em with the pointy end

Great survival tips; I always expect the unexpected. ;) I can't wait to read Six of Crows. <3

After reading Six of Crows, I ABSOLUTELY agree with the one about trust. It would be something I would definitely have to work on, especially in a high stress situation like they deal with.
ReplyDeleteGreat tips and certainly necessary if you hope to survive in this world. Can't wait to have this book in my hands!
ReplyDeleteGoodness, sounds like the Grishaverse got even more hectic after Alina and the gang. I guess hiding emotions and trusting would be the hardest since a) so much goes on and b) everyone's crazy do you don't know who to trust
ReplyDeletehorcrux-alchemist.tumblr.com
I would probably have the most trouble with #5.
ReplyDeleteHaPPy BooK BiRtHdAy Six of Crows!!!
ReplyDeleteI wish I lived in cities/states that Leigh were coming too. I haven't seen her since her first release of Shadow and Bones.
Anyway, I really liked the tip 'Know Your Enemy' (preferably like the back of your hand). And just like Expect the Unexpected in Big Brother--it's needed in the Grishaiverse.
Yaaay :D Stunning blog tour post Katie. <3 Hugs. And ahh,, so jealous that you get to meet Leigh :D I hope you have the most amazing time tonight sweet girl. <3 I love reading your tips for surviving the Grishaverse :D Lots of love. I simply cannot wait to finally get to read this book. <3 So excited.
ReplyDeleteYAY! Happy Book Birthday, Leigh! I feel like I'd be the Samwell Tarly of the Grishaverse. I'd admit I'm a coward and someone would hopefully make sure I don't die? I don't know.
ReplyDeleteThese survival tips are very helpful! great post!!!
ReplyDeleteinteresting tips

These are some great tips but I feel I would be like you guys and definitely not survive in the Grishaverse! I would just fail miserably haha!
ReplyDeleteExcept the nnexpected makes me want to read this book even more. I think you're tips were good. Helpful for people who want to survive in the Grishaverse! Happy Reading!
ReplyDeleteLove this post! Can't wait to read the book!
ReplyDeleteWhat I'm getting from all these posts is- be alert, aware, and have a person who can protect your back. I wouldn't be able to survive in this world if I didn't have a buddy at all times! THIS PLACE IS MADNESS AND DANGER AND I AM A WEAK KING'S HAWAIIAN BREAD LOAF WHO WILL EASILY BE CRUSHED!
ReplyDeleteAnyways, great post! One thing that stands out is you say to basically not show emotion or lose yourself. A lot of the other posts on this tour advise that you guard your physical being, but your emotions need just as much protection! Those feeling things can get you in a lot of trouble and cloud your judgement- keep yourself in check, son!
Great post. "Know your enemy is a good suggestion"
ReplyDeleteAs long as you know in advance ;)
I'd have a hard time with not showing emotion... -_-''
I can't wait! I am reading Six of Crows on my kindle now! :D
ReplyDeleteMary G Loki
Knowledge is always a good thing, so know your enemy is sage advice. And hope you had a great time in Austin, I wish I could have met Leigh :)
ReplyDeleteCan I just hide? So excited for Six of Crows!
ReplyDeleteAwesome survival tips! Can't wait to read six of crows and keep them in mind!
ReplyDeleteIt will be interesting to see these tips come into play in the story.
ReplyDeleteGreat tips! These could probably also be used in the real world, but maybe not to the same extent. Ha ha! I don't think I'd survive in the Grishaverse!
ReplyDeleteThere are some awesome tips! I'll keep them in mind!
ReplyDeleteI would definitely be a decoy with number 5 of don't show my emotion, I'm terrible at. I don't have a poker face. Thanks for the tips.
