While most seventeen-year-old American girls would refuse to let their parents marry them off to a stranger, Robyn Mason dreams of the mysterious McKale in Ireland, wondering how he’ll look and imagining his cute Irish accent. Prearranged bindings are common for magical families like her own, however when she travels to the whimsical Emerald Isle she discovers there’s more to her betrothal and McKale’s clan than she was led to believe.

What starts as an obligatory pairing between Robyn and McKale morphs over time into something they both need. But one giant obstacle stands in the way of their budding romance: a seductive and deadly Fae princess accustomed to getting what she wants—and what she wants is McKale as her plaything. Love, desire, and jealousies collide as Robyn’s family and McKale’s clan must work together to outsmart the powerful Faeries and preserve the only hope left for their people.

SEE ME had my interest from the moment Wendy Higgins announced she was self publishing a new book. This book had the perfect blend of Irish lore, Fae magic, and was given a unique twist with both the Leprechaun and Chaun lore. I loved the mix of all these elements together, and the way Wendy wrote their stories, and their history/lore. It was interesting, since I hadn't read anything like this before.
Wendy gave me just enough detail to feel like I understood the characters easily. She described her world perfectly that allowed me to easily visual the lush beauty of Ireland. I like that the world building wasn't overly detailed, but I was given just enough details to understand how the world within the Leprechauns worked, and how their relationships with the Fae, humans, and the Chaun worked. Well I should say their is no interaction with humans, and I liked how that was explained. I loved the lore, the magic, and having an understanding of how all the elements worked together in this story.

Character wise, I didn't personally feel a connection to any one character, though I enjoyed reading about all the characters. I liked Robyn, and the relationship she has with her parents, and her sister. I liked McKale, and loved the humor McKale's friend, Rock, brought to the story line. Rachel is a human with a special magical fae abilities, something readers learn more about when the read the story. She's athletic, out going, and very close to her family. She's not going into this arranged marriage blindly, but she is trying to make the most of the situation she and her family have been forced into. McKale is not your typical Leprechaun. He's not the cute little Leprechaun you see pictured on the box of Lucky Charms. He was a character that took a bit for me to warm up to. He is the rather shy, quite type, and I kind of liked that about him. At first he comes across as a bit standoffish, and guarded. When I found out more about him, I didn't blame him for that. However, as the story progresses, so does McKale. I liked the character he became.

Normally I'm not a fan of storylines with arranged marriages, but this is a story about Fae, and their interactions with the various groups who make up this story. From the get go readers understand how this arranged marriage came to be, which the Fae have a part of. I liked about how Wendy handled the arranged marriage situation. Robyn and McKale weren't forced to rush into the marriage, and their families supported them getting to get know each other first. Through their getting to know each other process, Robyn and McKale start to trust each other more, learn to open up to each other, and slowly start to fall in love. Also during this time, Robyn is able to learn more about McKale's way of life, and the roles each of those who belong to his clan, have. I also liked getting to know the characters through this process as well.

Romance wise, I missed the hot burning romance that Wendy is known to write, but, the romance that took place in this book was perfect for the characters in this story. It's not a rushed romance, but one that takes time to develop. The way that Robyn, and McKale are written, it would have ruined what they had, had it been a rushed romance. Which I know sounds silly being that they were in an arranged marriage. The exception to romance rule with this book, would be Rock. Who's a flirt, and a little reckless. He's the hard to resist bad boy so to speak. He's definitely a charmer.

SEE ME is a fun read. Sometimes it's nice to just sit and read an enjoyable book with out having to over think what you're reading, or feel like you're lost with the overly detailed storyline, and character developments. This story has a lot of heart to it, and I liked that it was just an enjoyable read. If you're looking for a great Irish lore, and a story about Leprechauns, romance, and Fae magic, I'd recommend picking this one up.
