Sherlock Holmes and Miss James “Mori” Moriarty may have closed their first case, but the mystery is far from over in the thrilling sequel to Lock & Mori, perfect for fans of Maureen Johnson and Sherlock.

You know their names. Now discover their beginnings.

Mori’s abusive father is behind bars…and she has never felt less safe. Threatening letters have started appearing on her doorstep, and the police are receiving anonymous tips suggesting that Mori—not her father—is the Regent’s Park killer. To make matters worse, the police are beginning to believe them.

Through it all, Lock—frustrating, brilliant, gorgeous Lock—is by her side. The two of them set out to discover who is framing Mori, but in a city full of suspects, the task is easier said than done. With the clock ticking, Mori will discover just how far she is willing to go to make sure that justice is served, and no one—not even Lock—will be able to stop her.

INTERVIEW WITH HEATHER PETTY

MMs: Hi Heather!! Welcome back to Mundie Moms. We are so excited about Lock & Mori's next adventure, and cannot wait to read the book. What can fans expect to read about in this book?

Heather: MIND GAMES starts just two weeks after the first book ends, so the book is in part about the fallout of what happened in LOCK & MORI, but the story also contains a mystery of its own—one that starts with the discovery of a severed hand in her rubbish bin.

MMs:  Mori has been through a lot. What's one of her strengths you've come to admire?

Heather: I love how driven she is—that she’s not satisfied with mere survival, but still wants more for herself and her brothers.

MMs: We love that Lock is both this brilliant character, and at the same time he can be very infuriating. Would you say he's become more fun to write, or more challenging?

Heather: The biggest challenge with Lock is how to show what he’s thinking or feeling when he’s not particularly emotive. But it has definitely become more intuitive to write him, now that Mori (and I) knows and understands him a little better.

MMs: I love the chemistry between Lock & Mori. What is one of your favorite moments to write between the two of them?

Heather: In MIND GAMES, my favorite scene between Lock & Mori was when they met up in the back of the school theater. I won’t give too many spoilers, but the scene involves math and kissing. (I know…it’s weird, but it was my favorite to write.)

MMs: What do you have the most fun creating? The characters, the setting, or the various elements that make up their story?

Heather: Definitely the characters. Alice plays a much bigger part in MIND GAMES, and it was really fun to explore her character a little more.

MMs: What is one upcoming release you're looking forward to reading?

Heather: I am actually really looking forward to reading Ellie Marney’s EVERY series and Brittany Cavallaro’s CHARLOTTE HOLMES series. I haven’t allowed myself to read any of the other Sherlock adaptations while writing the LOCK & MORI books, and I’m kind of desperate to see what they’ve done with the characters.

As for upcoming 2017 releases, I’m excited to read WINTERSONG by S. Jae-Jones and WICKED LIKE WILDFIRE by Lana Popović. I’m also desperate for Adam Silvera’s upcoming THEY BOTH DIE AT THE END and Becky Albertalli’s THE UPSIDE OF UNREQUITED.

  5. This sounds like such a great series that I hope I can get into sooner rather than later. Sherlock Holmes is such a unique character to write a book about and adding the twist of the villian of Moriarty and making the character not only a girl but of friend is such genius.
