THERE'S SOMEONE INSIDE YOUR HOUSE by Stephanie Perkins / Theory Post & Giveaway #TheresSomeoneInsideYourHouse #HowDoesItEnd

Hello and welcome to today's spotlight post for Stephanie Perkins's upcoming release, THERE'S SOMEONE INSIDE YOUR HOUSE. I've teamed up with Penguin Random House to share my theory on who I think the killer is, based on the book sampler they sent me, and I've also got a giveaway! First, here's a little bit about the book.

It’s been almost a year since Makani Young came to live with her grandmother in landlocked Nebraska, and she’s still adjusting to her new life. And still haunted by her past in Hawaii.

Then, one by one, the students of her small town high school begin to die in a series of gruesome murders, each with increasing and grotesque flair. As the terror grows closer and the hunt intensifies for the killer, Makani will be forced to confront her own dark secrets.

Stephanie Perkins, bestselling author of Anna and the French Kiss, returns with a fresh take on the classic teen slasher story that’s fun, quick-witted, and completely impossible to put down.

MY THEORY

Disclaimer-I have no idea how this story ends, so I'm not spoiling anything, because at the time of writing this post, I have not read the full arc, nor do I yet have one in possession.

First off, let me start by saying Stephanie Perkins has written some of my favorite YA contemporary books. I absolutely adore her, and her books. But, WOW! She has found her other niche with YA thrillers/murder mysteries. Normally I can figure out 'the who done it' when it comes to YA books, but I can not figure this one out! Perkins has kept me guessing.

I feel like I'm watching a 90's teen thriller where it's painfully obvious who the killer is, but I'm so wrapped up into the movie, I for the life of me, can't figure it out. There's Someone Inside Your House is like playing Clue (I always knew it was Crnl. Mustard with a candlestick in the library. Just saying). I feel like I should totally know who the killer is, but I don't.

As the story has progressed, my theories have changed. When I first started reading this, I guessed it was someone Makani knew. I've guessed a certain someone's cop brother, a student, a crazy adult, a recent high school graduate, etc. But as these killings get more and more gruesome, I'm beginning to think it's a school outcast, or someone who hasn't either played a big part in the story up to the point where the teaser arc ended at (at page 151), or it's someone who I would ever suspect. Which is why I'm ruling out the boyfriend. Plus at this point, that would be to obvious. However, there's still that possibly.... I've gone back and forth on if it could be a student or an adult, though I've gone back to student.

My word, I don't know who the killer is. Well done Stephanie. I can not figure out who did this. This third killing had me changing my theory yet again. Since this is a theory post, my theory is..... that this is someone who's not one of the main characters. I just don't know who yet. I think it's someone the students all know, but someone the reader doesn't know well, at least not yet. Or maybe they do.... Be rest of assured that as soon as I receive my arc, I'm devouring it. I need answers!

Don't miss the Penguin Teen blog tour for this week, which kicks off in a couple of weeks! I'll be sharing my review for the blog tour next month, and as always, it will be spoiler free. If you've read the arc sampler, I'd love to hear your theory on who did it. IF you've read the arc, please DO NOT spoil it in the comments below. No one like spoilers, especially us.
