Mini Review-Clockwork Angel, by Cassandra Clare

I really love this book and I'm so excited about it's August 31st release, that I wanted to share my mini review for it. This is truly a must have for all Cassandra Clare/Mortal Instruments fans. Clockwork Angel was exactly like I had hoped it would be and more.

I really enjoyed reading Clockwork Angel, and I was so engrossed with the book that I read it in two sittings. I loved learning more about the history of the Shadow Hunters and meeting some of the MI characters ancestors. Cassie's writing for ID is brilliant. I was captivated with the story from the get go. The characters are ones I really liked, and I enjoyed meeting Tessa, the books main character. What really draws me to Tessa is she so strong willed and she knows how to handle herself with Will (think Jace, only in the 1800's and you have Will).

I'm torn between Jem and Will. With Will, things are little complex. There's something about him, that seems a little dark. He's the broken, snarky boy who doesn't sugar coat anything. With his snarky and laugh out loud one liners, he's won me over for the time (that may change when I read the next book). Jem and Will have a bond similar to what Alec and Jace have, only Jem is nothing like Alec. He's the senstivie one of the two and with his calm, soothing demeanor, he's the grounded one that I think a lot of readers will fall in love with.

I really loved being immersed into the Shadow Hunter world again. I've missed it and while it's not Clary, and Jace's story, I still felt like a piece of them was there. There's some great characters that Cassie introduces us to like Henry, Camille, who run the Institute, and Sophie and Thomas, who help Camille and the rest of the Shadow Hunters. I really like Camille, Sophie and Tessa's characters. They each carry an inner strength that is needed for them to survive in a man's society.

There's plenty of evil characters and no shortage of action. There's the right amount of romance and with the setting being in the 1800's in England, I was captivated. The characters kept me glued to the story and the plot twists kept me turning the pages. I really enjoyed the whole story! It's rich, dark, and brilliant. Clockwork Angel has left me wanting more.

We have some great things planned with Cassie prior to Clockwork Angel's release-chats, giveaways and more!! We'll be posting more information closer to August.
