5 stars-- A Thrilling Sequel

This thrilling sequel to the much-talked-about Nightshade begins just where it ended-Calla Tor wakes up in the lair of the Searchers, her sworn enemy, and she's certain her days are numbered. But then the Searchers make her an offer-one that gives her the chance to destroy her former masters and save the pack-and the man-she left behind. Is Ren worth the price of her freedom? And will Shay stand by her side no matter what? Now in control of her own destiny, Calla must decide which battles are worth fighting and how many trials true love can endure and still survive.

With Nightshade Andrea enticed me with her beautiful world building, made me fall in love with her in-depth characters and had me clinging to each page either from the heart pounding action or the hot character chemistry that just melted off the pages. In Wolfsbane Andrea gave me the back bone to the series's story. With her richly detailed history of the Guardians, Searchers and Keepers, she uncovers some of the twists and unanswered questions I had with Nightshade. She introduces some fabulous new characters, surprised me with character growth and changes with some of my favorite characters and continues to throw in some exciting twists and a few sizzling scenes.

Calla surprised me with how much she has changed, which after all she's gone through shouldn't be so shocking. She is after all still an alpha and though she's more determined and logical in her plan of action this time, she's a bit more timid. I really liked getting to meet the Searchers, and getting to learn about their history. Some of my favorites are Monroe and wow does he deliver a few shocking twists, and Connor who brings the right amount of humor to the story line. Shay is the character who grew and surprised me the most. For the record I am a huge Ren fan, okay more than huge. Even though I understood Calla's decision at the end of Nightshade, that didn't stop me from yelling out loud at her. It's not that I don't like Shay, it's just Ren's the one who stole my heart first. Though Ren isn't physically in the story nearly as much as I was hoping, he's presence is still there. With Wolfsbane I was really surprised with how much ended up like Shay. With the way he grew into an Alpha character I felt like I was finally able to see him the way Calla has seen him all along. The two characters who discuss the Ren & Shay choice with Calla on page 368-369 said it perfectly. Like them, I finally find myself more accepting of who Calla may end up choosing.

One of the things I admire the most with Andrea's writing is the importance of every detail, big or small within the story and how her book is laid out. For example, Wolfsbane is divided into parts, Dante's Purgatorio, Inferno and Paradiso, and each of those titles has meaning for what takes place during that part of the story. Another thing I love about Andrea's writing is the way she uses nature/the outdoors for her setting, and the important role this plays in her series. With Wolfsbane she's integrates this with the important role of the four elements, earth, air, fire and water with each of the Searcher groups Haldis, Tordis, Pyralis and Eydis. I love how she's able to bring these elements together and incorporate her own unique paranormal mythology and magic into her series. It's one of things that I makes her series stand out the most for me.

Wolfsbane is a thrilling sequel with heartbreak, love, betrayal, and so much more. There are so many things I'd love to gush about with this book and the series. It's not just the action, the romance, the unforgettable characters and the strong emotional connection I felt with each of them that draws me to this series, it's the history, the complex setting, and the engaging mythology that lore me in. For me, this series and each book is a complete package with everything I love in a book. Nightshade is the story that hooked me and left me wanting more, and Wolfbane is the story that gives me more answers, complicates things and leaves me wishing I already had Bloodrose in my hands. I highly recommend picking Nightshade if you haven't already and picking up Wolfsbane when it's released one week from TODAY!

  17. I have been stalking this tour :) The more I read about these books the more I want to read them. I will admit to being shallow and loving it at first for the cover LOL - but the story seems like it will live up to the art. Thank you so much for participating in this giveaway opportunity.

  18. We get filled in on a lot of what left me scratching my head in Nightshade, but I forgave because of the vibrant characters and racing plot. Though this makes for a bit of a slow start. I had a hard time remembering all the details from Nightshade, and it took me a bit to get back in the world when bombarded with new characters and lots of history.
