2011 Mundie Moms Favorites: Hot Boys with Steles/Swords

It's day 1 of our 2011 Mundie Moms Favorites and I'm really looking forward to sharing our favorites with you guys this year. Sophie and I had to make this series of posts fun, so we'll not only be posting our favorite books, but some of our favorite elements, characters and so forth. Of course we're kicking off our series with our favorite Hot Boys With Steles/Swords. I swear this line has become normal here on Mundie Moms, thank you to Sophie.

Here's our top 10 favorite boys with steles & swords from some our favorite 2011 reads. The first on our list will not surprise anyone, after all they are in our favorite series,
  1. Jem & Will- The Clockwork Prince from the Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare
  2. Jace- The City of Fallen Angels from the The Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare
  3. Ash- The Iron Queen & The Iron Knight from The Iron Fey Series by Julie Kagawa
  4. Akiva- Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor
  5. Bennett- Surrender from the Haunting Emma series by Lee Nichols
  6. Archer- DemonGlass from the Hex Hall series by Rachel Hawkins
  7. Marcello, Luca & Lord Greco- The River of Time Series by Lisa T Bergren
  8. Dimitri- Circle of Fire from the Prophecy of the Sisters series by Michelle Zink
  9. Nick & Alan- Demon's Surrender from The Demon's Lexicon series by Sarah Rees Brennan
  10. Cash- Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Black

To help us kick off our feature both Nick & Alan from Sarah Rees Brennan's Demon's Surrender have stopped by to visit with us today!

Nick:

What do you admire most about your brother?

Well, he's quite good with a gun. I also enjoy his cooking: some of us are growing boys, here. Being perfectly honest, which I always am, I got all the good looks in the family and I'm good with a sword. He lies too much and thinks too much and feels stuff too much and reads too much and watches costume dramas. Basically he's pretty useless.

Do you have one thing you can't live with out? If so, what is it?

If by 'live' you mean 'keep breathing in this world' I suppose I need oxygen, and several of my internal organs.

If you're talking in a weird roundabout way about feelings, which everybody else always does, and if you are asking me what I could lose, that I would prefer not to exist without, then I suppose my useless brother.

For Mundie Moms who haven't yet read the series, what would you say to them to get them to pick it up?

I usually have no shirt, no morals and no regrets. It works on most girls. Some boys. And all their mothers.

I'm pretty certain there's going to be a few MM's who will be running to pick the book up now.

Alan:

We love that your a book fan. Who's your favorite author?

I'm very glad to be among ladies who understand about books. As for favourite authors, oh, I don't know if I could pick a favourite! Anyone who really loves books knows that it would be like trying to pick a favourite family member. (Well, I've got a favourite family member, but I understand it's difficult for other people.) I have a different favourite author for every mood, and sometimes two or three. But I do really love Anthony Trollope. And Machiavelli has a lot of very interesting ideas.

If you could insert yourself into any book, what book would that be?

Being in a book would be very, very upsetting. Books are about bad things happening to people. Honestly a lot of bad things happen to me anyway--torture, fights, emotional torture, romantic rejection, self-sabotage, sometimes Nick cooks--I don't think I could take any more stress. I think I'll put in for Picnic Fun Sticker Activity.

Have you ever really been in love?

As of Demon's Lexicon... no. As of the end of Demon's Surrender, I would say yes. The issue was really finding someone who would know when I was lying about that. And about everything else.

Thank you Nick & Alan for stopping by and to Sarah Rees Brennan for sharing her boys with us!

We'd love to know who some of your favorite 2011 HBWS are.

  7. Sorry, I didn't really know where to ask this but, have you heard of the book Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs? It is an absolutely amazing book and I was really hoping to see something about it on your website, but there was nothing. I didn't really know where to put this, again, sorry.
