#BIR2011 Day 6: The River of Time Series by Lisa T Bergren

There's so many things both Sophie and I adored about this series. Lisa's writing is brilliant. It's clean cut, engaging and really makes us want to go find the cave that Gabi and Lia were in when they teleported to 14th century Italy. Not to mention this series is full of some of our favorites, snark, romance, sword fights, swoon worthy scenes, well written character chemistry and Sophie's favorite, Hot Boys with Swords.

Here's 5 things Sophie and I love about The River of Time Series:

1) Heroines and Heroes who not only kick butt, but they're loyal and fight for a worthy cause, whether it be for love, to protect their homeland or families, homes & friends. Lisa has written characters that are believable and realistic. Plus they can all handle a sword really well...

2) 3 Hot Boys With Swords (that was for Sophie)

Lord Greco- Who doesn't love a naughty conflicted character. You can't quite trust him, but at the same time you can completely rely on him to sweep you off your feet.

Luca- The cute, loyal best friend who provides the perfect comic relief at all the right moments. He's truly a fabulously written best friend for Marcello.

Marcello- The hero of the story. If you want to fall in love with the self sacrificing type, then you need to meet Marcello. He will stop at nothing to protect his land, his people and of course the love of his life. Seriously, how can we not love him. (Plus Sophie loves how he handles his sword).

3) Strong Family Relationships- We love how this story is centered around the bound & acceptance of family relationships, whether it be in present day or in the past. The families in this story are so accepting of the choices and circumstances that alter certain family member's futures. We really loved how Lisa created a family relationship were the members not only support each other, and do what they can to help one another.

4) Believable Sister Bond- We love that these two fearless sisters aren't only tough, independent girls who do what ever they can to help each other and protect one another, but they also have a relatable softer side. They may not always agree on everything, or when one is unsure about "a certain choice", they know the other sister will always be there for her. Plus they know how to handle a sword and they're not afraid to use it.

5) Time Travel- After reading this series who wouldn't want to go have the ability to go back in time and visit 14th century Italy.
