Blog Tour: Tempest Unleashed by Tracy Deebs

I'm thrilled to be kicking of The Teen Book Scene's blog tour for Tracy Deebs's Tempest Unleashed. Today I have Tracy on the blog to talk about her upcoming release!

Hi Tracy! Thank you for stopping by Mundie Moms today!
Thanks so much for having me, Mundie Moms!  I love your blog

How would you describe Tempest Unleashed in 5 words or less?
A kick-ass mermaid roller-coaster ride

Which character did you enjoy getting to know more about in Tempest Unleashed?

I really enjoyed getting to know the queen in this book—she’s a lot more evil and diabolical than I gave her credit for in the first book.  Also, Mark is pretty amazing in this book and I really enjoyed getting to know who he is and what he wants from Tempest and from life.

Were you surprised with a particular character in terms of how much they changed from your draft of this series to Tempest Unleashed's published copy?
Actually, yes.  Queen Hailana originally started as an old but sweet merQueen trying to keep her clan together.  She morphed into something else entirely—something much more evil and cunning—in Tempest Unleashed.

Is there a particular place/beach that inspired your setting for your series?
Absolutely.  I grew up in San Diego and the beaches of La Jolla, which Tempest surfs, are real beaches that I hung out on and surfed when I was her age (without the mermaid tail, of course)

In Book Three, Tempest, Mark and Kona spend some time off of Hawaii and I can’t wait to start writing that.  Although I keep telling my husband I think we need to plan a trip to the islands since I haven’t been there in years.  For research purposes only, of course ;)

Are you a sands between your toes beach goer or playing in the ocean one?
Oh, I am totally a playing in the ocean one.  Though I am deathly afraid of sharks (note who the bad guys are in the Tempest series) I love to swim and surf and snorkel.  I’d also love to scuba dive some time soon.

Thank you Tracy for stopping by today! Be sure to keep reading to enter Tracy's GIVEAWAY!

Now, it’s my turn.  What’s your favorite kind of nature place to hang out?  The beach?  The mountains? Somewhere in between?  Leave a comment to be entered to win an autographed copy of Tempest Rising.

Tempest Maguire is happy with her decision to embrace her mermaid nature and live among her mother’s clan within the ocean’s depths. Even though training to one day ascend the throne for the aging mermaid queen is rigorous, she finds refuge in the arms of Kona, the selkie who first opened her up to her mermaid side.

But when word comes that one of her brothers has been gravely injured on land, Tempest immediately rushes to his side—which also brings her back to her old flame, Mark. And in her absence, a deadly battle begins raging at the hands of Tempest’s old nemesis, the sea witch Tiamat.

As the dangerous war erupts, Tempest’s two loves—Kona and Mark, sea and land—will collide for the first time, both to protect her and to force her to choose -quoted from Goodreads

  1. Wow, this was a lovely interview and I LOVE the cover of Tempest Unleashed. It looks like it would be a fun read.
My favorite holiday destination will always be the beach. I don't know how to surf, snorkel, and am afraid of sharks, but I love the ocean. Whenever I'm really stressed, my husband and I go to a great beach somewhere. The sound of the waves, the sand under my feet, the breeze stroking my skin just causes the stress to melt away. I also love waterfalls. Fine, let's just say, anywhere with water would be best for me.

  2. My favorite place is definitely the ocean. Nothing is better than to go to the beach when you've had a seriously rough day to just listen to the surf rush in and out.

  3. I like greenery and freshwater and mountains in the distance. I'm not fond of sand. I would like to spend more time in the Rocky Mountains or along the Appalachian range. (extemter at hotmail dot com)

  4. For me, it's a toss up. I grew up camping every year without running water or electricity and in the middle of the Monongahela (SP) National Forest. Then we spend one year at the beach. Both have special thoughts and feelings for me in my heart. I don't know if I could choose. But for cleanliness wise, it would be the beach! Nothing like being clean! 5. I love walking through the woods. There's something very mystical about being on your own in a forest. Plus, I love wildlife. :) Thank you for the giveaway.

  6. Great interview. I have been wanting to read Tracy Deebs Tempest series! I love anywhere in nature. Whether it be the forest, surrounded by nature and its beautiful wildlife, on a mountain side with natures breathtaking views, or in the ocean swimming with the fishies! I love being outside connecting with God's creations every chance I get!

  9. Great interview! I loved Tempest Rising and I can't wait to read Tempest Unleashed!
My family camped a lot when I was younger and I live about two minutes from the beach, so nature has always been a part of my life. It doesn't matter if I'm on an island or in the mountains, I love it all! It's so relaxing.

  11. I'm about 60% in the e-arc, and I absolutely love it. I'd probably say the lake is one of my favorite outdoor places to read. It's relaxing and peaceful.

  12. I Love Love Love camping!! The fresh air, the birds chirping, the sound of the river rushing. Here in Washington State we have lots of camp grounds so it is really amazing how green everything is. I love being away from all the noise. Camping in the forests/woods is a really good place to just pick up a good book and relax. So definitley in the forests/woods.

  13. I like hanging out at a lake in the mountains. It's has the beach and the mountains put together to make an awesome scene of nature. Plus, this place would be a bit isolated because of the mountains. :D
    Thank you!

  15. While I LOVE the mountains, I am definitely more at peace when at the beach. Though I am definitely only a toes-in-the-sand kind of girl; I do not go swimming in the ocean! (I too am deathly afraid of sharks and pretty much all other things in the water through which I cannot see!) I use the sound of waves crashing against the shore when I am working on relaxing myself.

I'm very curious about these books. I've never read a mermaid story before so I just might have to pick these up and try them. :)
