Iron Fey Blog Tour: Iron Legends by Julie Kagawa

I am thrilled to be the next stop in Kismet's Iron Legend's Tour. Today's stop will not only focus on one of Julie's novella's, but it also features a HUGE giveaway! I'm thrilled to be on the Summer Court. Now I know many of us would choose the Winter court as our favorites, because of Ash. There is nothing wrong with picking Ash, but the Summer court also has a lot to offer.

So that's talk courts. When I first started this series my heart belonged to one court, but then as the series evolved I found myself changing courts. Don't get me wrong, I'm Team Ash, but in all honesty it would be a little hard staying in a place over run by ice and ruled by a stone cold Queen. Being that today's stop is part of the Summer Court, I'm going to talk about that court for a moment.

Summer Court:

I'll totally admit I'm a big supporter of Team Ash, but before there was Ash there was Puck. Puck's that friend you always want to have around you. You know the kind that's always upbeat, makes you laugh, brings you up when you're feeling down, and at times is home to you. He's warm, comfort and happiness. He's also someone you know whom will always have your back. With Puck you have a loyal friendship, and someone you can always count on. Really the only thing missing from our court is Ash, right?! *coughs*. I'm just saying, if you're going to pick a court you need fellow fey you have it all together, and judging by all we've read about Puck, you know he'd be a lot of fun to hang out with! Plus it's the SUMMER court. Who doesn't love Summer. It's warmth, dancing, laughing merrily, late nights, and having fun.

Winter Court & Iron Court:

Winter Court, the opposite of everything cheery, sunny and warm. Not that a little bit of cold wouldn't be nice. I love a cold day, but I don't know if I could take that much cold day after day. If we're being honest here, the only reason I would pick that court is because of ASH, but since he's with Meghan, I would have to say pass. This leads me to another fascinating court, The Iron Court, aka where Meghan now rules over. Aside from the guys, you have to admit that Meghan is one amazing heroine. She is the heart of the Iron Court and she's someone I have really come admire. She's beauty, strength, fearlessness, and loyalty. She'll do whatever it takes to protect those she loves, no matter that cost is. She's a leader, she's smart, independent, and she's not afraid to ask for help. Plus I love that fact she falls for the forbidden guy, and really not just any guy, Ash. Who can fault her right? It would seriously stink being stunk in that one court, which again leads to point out all the fun you could have in the SUMMER COURT.

With the tour, each stop is focusing on a different Fey book, and today's feature is Summer's Crossing. I really enjoyed this novella. You can read Sophie's review here. Let me tell you a little bit about it, just in case you've not had a chance to read it.

A Midsummer's Nightmare? Robin Goodfellow. Puck. Summer Court prankster, King Oberon's right hand, bane of many a faery queen's existence—and secret friend to Prince Ash of the Winter Court. Until one girl's death came between them, and another girl stole both their hearts.

Now Ash has granted one favor too many and someone's come to collect, forcing the prince to a place he cannot go without Puck's help—into the heart of the Summer Court. And Puck faces the ultimate choice—betray Ash and possibly win the girl they both love, or help his former friend turned bitter enemy pull off a deception that no true faery prankster could possibly resist.

About the Author:

Julie Kagawa was born in Sacramento, California. But nothing exciting really happened to her there. So, at the age of nine she and her family moved to Hawaii, which she soon discovered was inhabited by large carnivorous insects, colonies of house geckos and frequent hurricanes. She spent much of her time in the ocean, when she wasn’t getting chased out of it by reef sharks, jellyfish and the odd eel.

To pay the rent, Julie worked in different bookstores over the years, but discovered the managers frowned upon her reading the books she was supposed to be shelving. So she turned to her other passion: training animals. She worked as a professional dog trainer for several years, dodging Chihuahua bites and overly enthusiastic Labradors, until her first book sold and she stopped training to write full-time.

Julie now lives in Louisville, Kentucky, where the frequency of shark attacks are at an all-time low. She lives with her husband, two obnoxious cats, one Australian shepherd who is too smart for his own good and the latest addition, a hyperactive Papillon puppy.

  4. I can't wait for this to come out, as the ebooks haven't been available in Australia. Can't wait to read them :-)

  5. I choose the summer court because they're not afraid to show their emotions and for the most part, they help each other out. The winter court looks at emotions as a weakness and will exploit it just to destroy you. Plus the summer court has more fun and very gleeful!

  6. Awesome giveaway! I never win anything but am enjoying the tour nonetheless! I'm whatever Court where Ash is...but really love them all. Summer is all about warmth and fun (if you steer clear from Titania)...and I'd be quite happy to never put on a thick winter coat again! :P Thanks for the tour and entries! Lots of fun!

  8. I would be in the Summer court because it's warm and it just seems like a much happier place than the Winter court.

  9. I like summer from the seasons and this short story is really good. I loved the Summer Court and imagined myself with them in the book.

  11. I chose the Winter Court because the cooler seasons happen to be my favorite. I love the winter and snow and ice, even though it is chilly. And I didn't choose this court because of Ash. I do love the summer and the Summer Court has Puck, who I enjoyed a lot in the books, but Winter Court is what I choose.
    Thanks for the giveaway!
    Cheers!

  13. I pick winter court. It's a beautiful place with all the snow and ice. And even though it's a dangerous court I think that's one's of the beauties of this court.

  14. I pick Winter Court. I love the icy beauty of the snow. Thanks for the giveaway!

  15. I actually got my copy of the book today! Someone put it on the shelves a day early. Way excited about that.

As for which court I'd want to be in, that's hard. I love the winter one for the snow, but dislike most of the faeries there (who'd want to live with Redcaps? Ugh), I love the look of Summer too, but it would probably be too warm for me, and then there is Iron and the steampunk feel of it. How do you pass up on that? Not to mention all the modern things in it?

  16. Unfortunately I picked Iron just because there are no scary fey queens.

  17. I chose Iron Court because I love the blend of new machines and ancient fae.

  19. I picked Winter because of Ash, of course! And I'd get him to fall in love with me and overthrow the Queen:)

    Julie Kagawa rocks:)

    Thank you:)

  20. I picked Summer becasue:
    1) im ALWAYS cold so i dont think winter would be a good idea
    2) everyone who loves Ash picks winter or iron, i love Ash, but you gotta love Puck's joy, which i need right now

  21. I picked Iron. Because I need technology to live. :) Plus, although summer seems beautiful and all fun, summery dancing, it still has dangerous, heartless fae. Meghan would at least be able to keep hers under control. And Winter's too cold!

  22. I chose Iron because it's the place that intrigues me the most, and Ash would be there.

    Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

  23. I chose Summer Court purely for the weather. I love Ash, but I can't handle the ice and snow!

  25. I picked winter because I love the snow!

  27. I chose Winter because I'm not really familiar with this series, so I chose based off of Aprilyne Pike's series! lol
    Thank you!

  28. I chose the summer court. I've only read the first book, so I'm not really familiar with the iron and winter courts yet, but I hate the cold and I love a Midsummer Night's Dream!

  29. I have chosen The Iron Court. I think Megan is perfect for ruling her own court. I love technology as well, so I feel I would do well in the Iron Court. Thanks for the giveaway!
