Twitter Tuesday - Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus

I'm on a complete contemp kick this summer. I keep wandering over to fantasy and paranormal, but somehow it seems that every other book I pick up is a contemporary story. So when Emma and Nicola (who also wrote The Nanny Diaries, Citizen Girl, Dedication, The Real Real, Nanny Returns, Between You and Me) tweeted this yesterday, I was one happy Mundie Mama:

And here's the synopsis of Over You: After the grand explosion of her relationship, seventeen-year-old Max Scott developed what every girl in the history of the world has been waiting for: a way to get over being dumped. Now Max is the go-to guru for heartbroken high-school girls all over NYC. But when her ex unexpectedly shows up in her neighborhood, Max’s carefully controlled world starts to unravel. With her clients’ hearts hanging in the balance, Max will have to do the seemingly impossible: get over him once and for all.

A girl who becomes an expert on getting over broken hearts but isn't quite ready to do so herself? Sounds like a perfect end-of-summer read to me. You can purchase it here: IndieBound | amazon | Barnes and Noble. And be sure to follow Emma and Nicola on twitter.

  1. I haven't read anything by either of these authors, but Over You sounds like it might be worth going out and buying. I really like the synopsis.

  2. Robyn - I haven't either although I've definitely heard of The Nanny Diaries (and remember there was a movie made of it). I just bought the ebook, and it was the synopsis that made me think...hmmm, this sounds like it will be different from what I'd expect.

  3. These are both new authors to me but the books sound great! I think I'll give them a try.

  4. You will find the nanny diaries entertaining, very much a parody of a certain New York city lifestyle. The character that is best depicted is "Mr. X", the rude manipulative and philandering husband of this poor "Mrs. X". The two are Steven Haft and Lisa Birnbach in real life. A lot has been said a bout her and she by the way denied having anything to do with the book Character.
But him !!!! What a brilliant and true portrayal of a horrible husband with low morals and an over-inflated ego.
