I can't believe we have less than two months until City of Lost Souls is out. YAY!!! It's almost time for the MM's City of Fallen Angels Read -A- Long to kick off!! I'm looking forward to re-read City of Fallen Angels with you guys.

Here's the low down on the upcoming read along. The Read Along will kick off on April 18th and end on May 7th, 2012.

The Schedule:
April:

May:

There's no right or wrong way to take part in this read along. Please feel free or listen to the audiobook. You can join in at the start of the read along, a few days after we start, the middle etc. You can read the book through in one night or read one chapter a night, like I'm going to do.

Each morning I'll post questions pertaining to the chapter we just read the night before. Much like the Clockwork Angel Read - A- Long, I'll include the links for each post on the date that's listed above. There are no right or wrong answers. The only thing I ask is that you please be respectful to everyone's comments. No bashing, and please do not list spoilers, as some readers will be reading COFA for the first time.

For those who faithfully post each day they will be entered into a drawing for a copy of CITY OF LOST SOULS! Your comments can be as short or as long as you'd like them to be. If you're an anonymous commenter, you will need to at least include your name in your comment in order to be entered to win. Anonymous comments without names included will not be entered. I will be checking the comments when the giveaway ends to make sure the winner faithfully took part in the read along.

**I shouldn't say each day, as I know some of you can't join when I start the read along. You do need to comment under the majority of the posts to be entered to win. I'm not sure which version of City of Lost Souls I'm going to giveaway yet, but I'll be purchasing this and yes, it's open internationally.

Signing Up & The Giveaway: As well as commenting, you do need to sign up for the read along in order to be entered to into the giveaway. Please be sure to fill out the form below. When the giveaway is over, I will contact my winner as well as delete the form, so no personal information is saved. As mentioned above, you do need to be an active participant in order to be entered to win, as this keeps it fair to those who joined the read along and are commenting daily.

Book Review: Immortal City by Scott Speer

Published by: RazorBill
To Be Released on: April 3rd, 2012
Source: ARC from publisher to review
3.5 stars: It's A Good Read
Pre-Order from: Amazon | Barnes & Noble

Jackson Godspeed is the hottest young Angel in a city filled with them. He's days away from becoming a full Guardian, and people around the world are already competing for the chance to be watched over by him. Everyone's obsessed with the Angels and the lucky people they protect--everyone except for Madison Montgomery.

Maddy's the one girl in Angel City who doesn't breathlessly follow the Angels on TV and gossip blogs. When she meets Jackson, she doesn't recognize him. But Jackson is instantly captivated by her, and against all odds the two fall in love.

Maddy is swiftly caught up in Jackson's scene, a world of glamour, paparazzi - and murder. A serial killer is on the loose, leaving dead Angels' wings for the police to find on the Walk of Fame. Even the Guardians are powerless to protect themselves in the face of this threat … and this time it's up to Maddy to save Jackson - quoted from Goodreads

Immortal City is definitely not your average angel book. Scott Speer does a fabulous job at creating a world unlike any I've read in YA angel lore. I loved the gritty feel this story has to it. Angels in this book can be hired out to protect humans, and these angels don't hide who they are. If you're one of the lucky Angels, you're chosen to be a Guardian, as in a Guardian Angel. The Angles in this book are a class of beings unlike any other, and in this world people can't get enough of them. They're celebrities. They're wealthy, beautiful, and in high demand. If you're Maddy, you could care less about them.

Maddy for me was a character I went back and forth on liking through out this story. I liked that she was completely secure in who she was and with what she had. Since her parents died when she was little, she's been raised by her Uncle who also own a popular diner where Maddy helps out before and after school. Not having a lot of money, Maddy's a character who's grateful for what she has and doesn't let not having the finer things in life get to her. One of the things that started to bug me about Maddy was the fact she kept pushing Jackson away through out the entire story, even after the fact she knows he likes her and she likes him. It made sense the first two times she does it given what's going during those scenes, some of their differences that forbids them to fall in love, and the way she feels about Angels, but when it kept happening it killed the flow of the story for me and started to really annoy me.

Luckily Jackson is a persistent character. I really enjoyed Jackson, because there's so much more to him than his drop dead gorgeous looks, being the "it" Angel and having money. He wasn't some shallow character. He had depth to him and I felt like his feelings and attraction to Maddy were genuine. Plus I loved that their relationship wasn't forced. Their attraction to each other and their chemistry made sense. I love that fell for someone who saw him for who he was, and didn't care about all the money and fame. While this story has some good romance and character chemistry, I loved the suspense, danger and the murder mystery that fueled my intrigue with this story.

Not everyone in this story cares about the Angels, and someone's out to kill the best of the best off. The suspense, the who done it part of the story surrounding who was responsible for killing the Angels and the danger that Jackson and Maddy found themselves apart of was well written. I had my hunches about who was responsible for the killings, but Scott kept throwing in some great twists that would leave me second guessing myself. I thought Scott did a great job with the pacing of his story. He kept me invested with the over all story, even though there were parts that I wasn't a huge fan of. Though one of the big mysteries is solved, I have a feeling there's a lot more twists and shocking revelations to come. With the abrupt way the story ended I hope there's going to be a sequel.

Over all Immortal City was a good, entertaining read and I'm looking forward to finding answers to my unanswered questions in the next book.

Clockwork Prince / Alternate Scene

Cassie treated fans to alternate scene with Jem from Clockwork Prince this morning! You can read it here and I've also posted it below.

Clockwork Prince/alternate scene

Jem’s knees gave out, and he sank to the trunk at the foot of his bed, still playing. He played Will breathing the name Cecily, and he played himself watching the glint of his own ring on Tessa’s hand on the train from York, knowing it was all a charade, knowing, too, that he wished that it wasn’t. He played the sorrow in Tessa’s eyes when she had come into the music room after Will had told her she would never have children. Unforgivable, that, what a thing to do, and yet Jem had forgiven him. Love was forgiveness, he had always believed that, and the things that Will did, he did out of some bottomless well of pain. Jem did not know the source of that pain, but he knew it existed and was real, knew it as he knew of the inevitability of his own death, knew it as he knew that he had fallen in love with Tessa Gray and that there was nothing he or anyone else could do about it.

Aw Jem!! I can't wait for Clockwork Princess!

"I swear on the Angel." He ducked his head down, kissed her cheek. "The hell with that. I swear on us."

Clary wound her fingers into the sleeve of his T-shirt. "Why us?"

"Because there isn't anything I believe in more." He tilted his head to the side. "If we were to get married," he began, and he must have felt her tense under him, because he smiled. "Don't panic, I'm not proposing on the spot. I was just wondering what you know about Shadowhunter weddings."
