Ethan Wate thought he was getting used to the strange, impossible events happening in Gatlin, his small Southern town. But now that Ethan and Lena have returned home, strange and impossible have taken on new meanings. Swarms of locusts, record-breaking heat, and devastating storms ravage Gatlin as Ethan and Lena struggle to understand the impact of Lena's Claiming. Even Lena's family of powerful Supernaturals is affected - and their abilities begin to dangerously misfire. As time passes, one question becomes clear: What — or who — will need to be sacrificed to save Gatlin?

For Ethan, the chaos is a frightening but welcome distraction. He's being haunted in his dreams again, but this time it isn't by Lena - and whatever is haunting him is following him out of his dreams and into his everyday life. Even worse, Ethan is gradually losing pieces of himself — forgetting names, phone numbers, even memories. He doesn't know why, and most days he's too afraid to ask.

Sometimes there isn't just one answer or one choice. Sometimes there's no going back. And this time there won't be a happy ending -quoted from Goodreads

Gatlin County has become a lot more chaotic. With more action, a killer cliff hanger, plenty of surprises, heart break, shocking twists and moments that will make your heart melt, this third installment in the Caster Chronicles is one Caster fans will rave about. Kami and Margie took things up a notch in this story. Not only do we pick up where Ethan and Lena's story left off, this time around we get a deeper look into the the Caster world. It's beautiful and frightening all at the same time. With the forces of good and evil fighting for control, Lena and Ethan are forced to rely on some characters you'd never except them to turn to. With Lena up against a force that seems impossible to beat, Ethan will do anything he can to save the girl he loves. Did I mention heart breaking moments?

I adore Ethan and Lena, but with this story I can sum up my review up with two words, John Breed. I know this is a story about Ethan, and Lena, but John Breed is a character who really won me over in this book. I was left with more questions than answers about his presence in the series when I first met him, and had my doubts about him, but this time around I think I might be in love with his character. Well that and I might have laughed out loud more than once over Ethan's comments and thoughts about John being back in their lives. Either way, John Breed is a character who seriously surprised me, okay shocked me might be the correct word. I love his role in this story line! In case you don't remember John, he's the bad boy with the motorcycle....

Kami and Margie's writing is fabulous! I love it when an author can still throw in surprises that keep me on my toes, which is very much the case with this book's storyline. It's what keeps this series entertaining and addicting. Nothing is as it seems. There's a lot of little twists that created plenty of chaos for all the characters. Some characters become more evil, some embrace their new powers, and others well, they just cause mishap. What I loved most about this book is the detailed history and look into the Caster world that Kami and Margie gave me. It's richly detailed and vividly written. It was much easier for me to comprehend just how critical Lena's role is in everything that's going on, and the impact that certain characters have on the war that's brewing.

Seriously, that ending.... as much as it pains me to not yell HOW COULD YOU? to Kami and Margie, I will say I respect an author who gets me emotionally invested with their story and doesn't hesitate to do things to their characters that make me want to yell, scream cry, and sob all at the same time. With the way this book ended, I can only imagine what's going to happen in Beautiful Redemption. This is definitely a must read for Caster fans!
