Apparently when you celebrate your 4th bday you go for cheesy cute, and not Shadowhunter hot. Don't judge us. lol
Happy 4th Birthday to us! I can't believe it's already been 4 years. Well that's funny I say that since I told someone a week or so ago it was 5 years. Apparently I can't count. It's been an incredible 4 years. THANK YOU to everyone who's supported and befriended us. These 4 years have flown by and oh the fun we've had! Lately I've reflected on life, blogging, and everything else and over all I truly feel grateful/blessed for all that's happened that last four years. What an awesome thing book blogging is! I mean seriously. We get to share our love of books with others, make new friends, befriend amazing authors and publishers, promote books, attend awesome bookish related events and did I mention purchase, read and spend a lot of time discussing books? It's surreal for me to think that what started out as an idea after reading Cassandra Clare's City of Bones and City of Ashes in December of 2008, turned into a fan site/YA book review forum on Valentine's Day of 2009. Mundie Moms has truly grown into something I could have never imagined. I'm humbled by all that MM's has been apart of, and to all those who are apart of Mundie Moms.
How It All Started
To me, Mundie Moms is still "just a little book review blog/Cassie Clare fansite". Mundie Moms was started to promote Cassie's books, which grew into also promoting YA books. The YA review side was inspired because Cassie has so many YA book friends, and I wanted to support their books too, like Holly Black, Sarah Rees Brennan and more. The more YA books I read, the more books I wanted to promote them as well. The more I wanted to review, the more I wanted to find ways to get readers in touch with authors, which is how the Live Author Chats started. Our first live author chat was hosted on the forum in 2009. It's crazy to think it was that long ago, that I talked to a couple friends about the idea, and then it just happened, because to me I feel like I just started.
The Reflection
* Through the Evernight is the only published book in this giveway, but it's so good I had to buy it so someone else could fall in love with it as much as I did.
* Just One Day by Gayle Forman is a SIGNED arc
* All ARCs were received from the publishers to review (Harper Teen, Penguin Teen, Pulse (Simon Teen), Point (Scholastic)). Many of these are books I've read, and some are ones I've not yet read or have not yet posted my review for. These are all 2013 YA titles.

The Reflection
I had so many things I wanted to say today, and reflections I wanted to make in this post. There have been some absolutely incredible things I've had the privilege of being apart and being able to do. From volunteering at TLA, to The Austin Teen Book Festival, to moderating at the Texas Book Festival, and the numerous live author interviews I've hosted at Book People, to Smart Chicks, and being able to help promote so many awesome books. Through that, a dream I've had ever since I was kid came true (even at that time I wanted to be involved with books) having my name in a book. It's been truly an honor to be quoted in a few YA books, acknowledged in others, but having a character named after me in Bree Despain's series, and one in Saundra Mitchell's book has been utterly unimaginable. Words can't even describe that feeling. This past year I finally had "my moment" (you know the surreal moment when you want to pinch yourself to wake yourself up because you think you're dreaming, or get all your stuff in order, because something like this was too good to be true so you wonder what's going to happen to you... don't laugh, some of you know what I'm talking about) when Sony invited myself and a few other TMI fans site up to Toronto to be on the TMI Movie set. That was beyond my wildest dream and it was seriously one of the coolest experiences I've had. I can not wait to talk to you guys about that!! What an incredible experience.
Through it all the highlight of the past 4 years have been the friendships I have made. I'm in owe over the power one book has had in bringing people from all different walks of life and from all over the world, together. One book has been the reason why I have made the most incredible friends. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Thank you for your friendships! Thank you for all you've done to support Mundie Moms. Thank you to all the authors and publishers for their support and trust in Mundie Moms. Thank you to all of your lovely followers who trust in our reviews and want to hear our thoughts on books. Thank you forum/blog readers for your visits, for being on the chats, for being on the blog tours, for your comments, messages, tweets, emails etc. Thank you for your friendships. Thank you for your readership. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy lives to be apart of Mundie Moms. Most of all THANK YOU to Cassie who didn't blow me off when I contacted her back in 2008/beginning of 2009 and told her what I'd like to do. Thank you for your continued support of MM's and all the other TMI fan sites. Mundie Moms wouldn't be what it is if it weren't for Sophie, Shandra and Emmaly! THANK YOU times infinity for all you guys do behind the scenes, on the forum and the blog!
Since I can't group hug all of you or treat you all to cupcakes, though that would be nice, I'm instead going to host a GIVEAWAY! Here's what's up for grabs with today's 4th Birthday Bash (this is a little bit different from the original teaser pic I posted. I've added more books, and removed one).

Happy 4th Birthday!!! How exciting!! You were one of the first blogs I followed and have continued to follow. I do agree that books are better than cupcakes, but what's even better is books AND cupcakes!! And some coffee or tea too. ;) Your blog is so great! Keep up the good work!!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you Amy!!! :)
DeleteHappy 4th birthday to you!!! What an exciting year! You were THE first blog I started following when I started :) You've always been so inspiring and thoughtful! Thank you for all you do and share with us :)
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, cupcakes are always better than books... unless I'm really hungry. And there's extra chocolate chips on it... than I'll grab one and chance getting some on the book I'm reading ;) They go perfectly together to, ya know ;) xo
Thank you so much!! I truly appreciate your comments. THANK YOU!! :)
DeleteHappy 4th Birthday!!
ReplyDeleteBooks are definitely better than cupcakes....books don't cause me to have allergic reactions (to eggs). And they don't add to the waistline :)
Thank you!
DeleteBooks are totally better than cupcakes. But both would be good too. Now I need new books and cupcakes. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! :)
DeleteBooks are better than cupcakes but they are also better with cupcakes
ReplyDeleteLOL this is true!
DeleteHappy 4th Birthday, Mundie Moms!!!! Yours is one of the first book blogs I ever started following a year ago, now I am *addicted* to so many of y'all :) I would say I spend way too much time on your site and others, BUT FOR the fact that I DO agree that books are better than cupcakes, and so for that reason it's not time wasted! I mean, come on - books don't make you fat (you can even read them while working out!); they last forever and you can read them over and over again (no cupcake can claim that); and depending on what you're reading, books can be *at least* as sweet as cupcakes :) Don't get me wrong, I <3 a good cupcake and won't turn one down...but if I absolutely had to choose, I'd choose a book ANY DAY. Thanks so much for being so great to your followers and readers, and I wish you all the best for, oh, another 44 years!
ReplyDeleteThank you Holly!! I truly appreciate that. *hugs you*
Delete^THIS. Jen is totally right. I'll take the books first, but I will also take books WITH cupcakes! Like Bittersweet by Sarah Ockler. ;)
ReplyDeleteOoh that's such a good book too ;)
DeleteOh yes, books are better than cupcakes!! They're yummy but not fattening:)
ReplyDeleteThis is true! The downside is that books cost much more than a cupcake lol
DeleteHappy Birthday! Yes, books are better than cupcakes. Waaay more bang for the buck!
ReplyDeleteHappy 4th blogger B-Day!! Books are better than cupcakes and they are guilt free!! ;) Thanks so much for all your amazing posts and hard work!
ReplyDeleteThank you! And you're most welcome :)
DeleteHappy Book Birthday and they are equally as good :)
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday!! *Puts on party hat and throws confetti*
ReplyDeleteBooks and cupcakes are both great, but I'm going to have to agree that books a a bit better because, let's face it, that cupcake would be gone in two minutes!
Awesome! Happy blog birthday! :D
ReplyDeleteBooks last longer than cupcakes, so that is definitely good for books! :)
Thank you! I love your point! Books last much longer than cupcakes ;)
DeleteHappy Bookish Birthday To You! and of course books have to be the best for sooo many reasons, not as many calories is just one lol also the happiness from s cupcake doesn't last as the happiness of reading and even re-reading a book!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I totally, 100% agree with your statement on why books are better than cupcakes ;)
DeleteThe shelf life of books is way longer than cupcakes :)
ReplyDeleteI love books, and totally a Happy Birthday to Mundie Moms, you have been guiding us to new authors and great reads all four of those years.
Aw, thank you so much Teril!

DeleteHappy Birthday!!! How exciting! You guys are one of the first blogs I started following and I have loved coming to visit! I am going to say 100 percent, that books are better than cupcakes! Don't let my kids hear that though :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! Aw, thank you for continuing to follow us. :)
DeleteHappy B-day! as in Blog day! Can't believe it's been 4 years!! I do LOVE books over cupcakes any day!
ReplyDeleteThank you Viv! I know, I can't either. Time has flown by.
DeleteCongrats :)!!! To keep up the hard work and awesomeness for four years? Absolutely inspiring.
ReplyDeleteThe "moment" sounds really awesome, and I can't wait to read your post on the Sony adventures ;).
And books are most certainly better than cupcakes. Is that even a question?!?!?!??!?
Delete:)
but maybe that's also because I don't like cupcakes o.O.
Thank you!!! It's been a lot of fun, and a lot of hard work, but so worth it.
DeleteI can not wait to get the green light from Sony!! I've been dying to talk about the trip.
Books or cupcakes? Eek, that's a tough decision. Depends on how hungry I am probably ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy blog birthday!
LOL!
DeleteThank you :)
OH my word. The books in this giveaway are all books I've been dying to get my hands on! They all sound so good!! Happy blog birthday!

DeleteHappy happy happy blogoversary, Katie! You ladies have done so much for YA lovers (and beyond). To another four happy years! :)
ReplyDeleteNo need to enter me in the giveaway, but how awesome that you're celebrating with such a generous gift to your friends.
Thank you so much Wendy! Here's to another 4 wonderful years :)
DeleteI can't have a party without a giveaway. Esp. when it comes to giving books away.
Happy 4th Anniversary! I am bowing to your awesomeness and definitely feel that books are better than cupcakes!
ReplyDeleteThank you! No bowing allowed. ;) lol
DeleteNo doubt they are!
ReplyDeletebooks are way better than cupcakes , none of those terrible calories
ReplyDeleteBooks are def way better than cupcakes! A book will last forever whereas a cupcake will only last long enough to digest and make you fat (: haha (don't get me wrong I love me some cupcakes, but I would take books over them anyday!) Thanks for this giveaway! I want all these books!
ReplyDeleteI like your point! That is so true. Books last forever, a cupcake just goes to our butts/thighs. haha
DeleteNow I love cupcakes, but you can only enjoy them once! I love books because they can be enjoyed over and over. It's like meeting up with old friends.
ReplyDeleteThis is also so true!
DeleteHappy 4th anniversary!! *tosses confetti*
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, books are way better than cupcakes! buttt they're also both definitely better when enjoyed together lol
Happy 4th Anniversary!! I love sweets, but I'll always say books are better than cupcakes lol!! Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteIt depends on the book! Sometimes cupcakes are better than books, and sometimes they're not. But I'd rather just eat a cupcake WHILE reading my book [;
ReplyDeleteI like this idea of reading a cupcake while reading ;)
DeleteHappy blogoversary! It's so awesome all that has happened to you because of the blog! I hope you have fun this new year and have a lot more years and get to experience lots of new things!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I believe books are better than cupcakes, I mean I love cupcakes but with books your mind travels to very awesome places, well it depends what kind of cupcakes you eat, they can do that too (do you watch 2 broke girls?)
DeleteAw, thank you so much! It's definitely been amazing, and totally surreal to think of all the things I've been able to do and experience because of the blog. I truly feel blessed. :)
DeleteHAPPY 4th BIRTHDAY!
ReplyDeleteYes, books are better than cupcakes. Books make me happy and they can't make me fat ;).
Is this some kind of trick question ?? How can you have books without cupcakes or vice versa impossible for me I need to have both so I'm being greedy and saying give me me my books & damn cupcakes =D
ReplyDeleteOMG!!! with all this book & cupcake excitement I forgot to wish you a Happy 4 year Blogversary see this is why I need both It keeps me sane & good luck everyone.
ReplyDeleteLOL! Thank you so much!

ReplyDeleteThank you so much!! :)
DeleteHappy Blogoversary! Yes books are better than cupcakes!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Kathryn!
DeleteHappy Birthday. Yes books are better than cupcakes. You can only eat a cupcake once, but you can read a good book over and over again.
ReplyDeleteThank you and I totally agree with! That's one of the reasons why books are better ;)
DeleteYes, but barely.
ReplyDeleteOF COURSE! Nothing (except maybe being able to live in the world of a book...) is better than books. NOTHING. Happy Anniversary and thank you for each year of awesome!
ReplyDeleteAgreed! and Thank you so much :)
DeleteHappy Aniversary! Of course books are better than cupcakes! Books are better than EVERYTHING!
ReplyDeleteThank you Karis!
DeleteBooks are always better than cupcakes! You can re-read a book over and over; once you eat a cupcake it's already being digested! Also, too much suger can make you sick; too many books can make you smarter!
ReplyDeleteHappy Blogoversary!! Thanks for sharing it with us!
Agreed! I don't think anyone is able to prove why a cupcake could be better than a book, at least not yet.
DeleteThank you so much!
Happy 4th Birthday, Moms! :) Can't believe the blog is 4 years old already. I agree that books are better than cupcakes - no calories included. :D
ReplyDeleteThank you Maidenveil! I know! Isn't crazy how fast those 4 years have flown by!?! It's been crazy fun.

Thank you Kirsten!
DeleteHappy 4th Birthday!! I definitely agree books are better than cupcakes! Books last a whole lot longer too : )
ReplyDeleteThank you Alicia!
DeleteHAPPY 4TH BIRTHDAY MUNDIE MOMS!!! This is by far my favorite book blog and I am soooo excited that it is turning 4!!! Although, this is a difficult question-- because honestly CUPCAKES?!.. Who doesn't love cupcakes?... But I am going to have to say that books surpass cupcakes! They have magical worlds in it that last longer than the cupcake! But on my alternate universe, I would have both! Haha! :D
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Ariadna!! Thank you for being apart of MMs!!
DeleteI agree with everything you said! Hot boys forever..... :)
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree!
ReplyDeleteHappy Blogoversary!!! And I totally agree. Books can't make you gain weight and last longer. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteLOL This is totally true! Books are fat free too ;)
yay! Congrats:)
ReplyDeleteAnd yes i think books are better the cupcakes:)
Thank you LorettaLynn!
DeleteHappy Blogoversary! I'm so glad I found your blog! Here's wishing you many, many more!!! It's a hard choice, but I'd gladly pick books over cupcakes, as long as it wasn't permanent :)
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you Erin!! Here's to many more years of fun!! :)
DeleteCongrats on the 4th birthday! I, also, agree that books are way better than cupcakes. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteErin K.
Happy 4th birthday! Books are always better than cupcakes...they last longer!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yes they do. Plus I think books are prettier than cupcakes too. :)
DeleteIn general books are better, but how about cupcakes with your books!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is true..... I don't know if I'd eat a cupcake while reading. Knowing me I'd get a crum or something on the book and then freak out. LOL
DeleteYes, of course books are better. What type of question is that? ;)
ReplyDeleteLOL
DeleteI don't know, that is a toss up for me.
ReplyDeleteBOOKS > CUPCAKES
ReplyDeleteunless they're red velvet.....
Happy 4th blogoversary!
Thank you Anne!
DeleteCongrats on your 4th bolgoversary!!!
ReplyDeleteI'd take books over cupcakes any day
Thank you so much and I would take books over cupcakes any day too.
DeleteI'd have to say books! Haha. Happy 4th blogaversary!!!
ReplyDeleteMe too and thank you!
DeleteBooks are way better than cupcakes! They don't have a ton of calories, they last longer, and they never get stale and gross!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree!
DeleteHappy Birthday Mundie Moms and thank you for starting this awesome blog in the first place. Yes books are better than cupcakes and they last longer too. But now I want a cupcake lol. Thank you foe this totally awesome giveaway and again for this blog.

ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday and thanks so much! :)
LOL this is true!
DeleteThank you so much! :)
Oh goodness. This is a really tough choice. I'm gonna go with books are better than cupcakes, though.
ReplyDeleteThat's true it is, but I agree with you. ;)
DeleteToughie. But yes, books are better in my opinion :)
ReplyDeleteI agree too! :)
DeleteBooks are better than just about anything!
ReplyDeleteThis is SO TRUE! ;)

ReplyDeleteCongrats on 4 years!!
Happy 4th Birthday!!! I love cupcakes but I can survive without them. However,I can;t survive without books!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I can't survive w/o books either.
DeleteBooks trump cupcakes. You can't come back and re-eat a cupcake, you have to just make more. With books you can do both :)
ReplyDeleteThis is true! :D
DeleteHappy 4th Birthday! Books are definitely better than cupcakes; I can't live without books but I don't need cupcakes.
ReplyDeleteThank you Alexis!
DeleteBooks are ALWAYS better than cupcakes, though cupcakes come in at a pretty close second. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy 4th!
Ems
Agreed! Thank you Ems :)

ReplyDeleteHappy Blogoversary!! :)
YAY!! Happy fourth birthday :D I'm so happy for you guys. <3 This blog is amazing. Sigh. Hope you'll continue blogging for many more years :) Also, yes, books are better :D
ReplyDeleteHAPPY BIRTHDAY :D yes books are definitely better. As much as I love cupcakes, you can't get fat off books
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, Congrats!!! Four years are a lot and I'm sure there will be more to celebrate :D
ReplyDeleteAs for books or cupcakes... I think it depends on the day, but right now I would choose books :)
Thanks for sharing the love! :D
Well I love books and cupcakes but cupcakes has calories books do not. So I would choose books :)
ReplyDeleteHappt Birthday!! Books are always better than cupcakes. Your blog was one of the first I started following and still one of my favorites!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy 4th Birthday! Book are totally better than cupcakes, even the chocalate with butter cream frosting. The thicker the book, the better. :)
ReplyDeleteYou've only been around for 4 years?! Wow, I've been watching y'all for about 3 of them and thought you'd been around a while before that. Congrats! Mundie Moms has really flourished.
ReplyDeleteAlso, books are better than cupcakes by far... this coming for someone who actually doesn't like cupcakes that much so I guess I am a little biased.
DeleteIt depends on what book and what kind of cupcake.
ReplyDeleteBooks ARE better than cupcakes--they won't make you fat! LOL
ReplyDeleteYes! Because books stick around, but once you eat a cupcake, POOF! It's gone.
ReplyDeleteOf Course!!
ReplyDeleteHappy 4th Birthday!! Books are totally better than cupcakes :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Tammy!
DeleteHappy fourth birthday! I can't wait to celebrate my one year in May, I'm so excited!
ReplyDeleteBooks obviously are better than cupcakes! They can bring us longterm amazing joy! <3
Thank you and Happy (early) 1st Blog Birthday! That's so exciting!!
DeleteBooks are better WITH cupcakes ;D
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! ^_^
Books are sooo much better than cupcakes! All of the yummy goodness without the calories, guilt, mess...what more could you ask for?!?
ReplyDeleteExactly! :D
DeleteHappy Birthday! Books are definitely better than cupcakes :)
ReplyDeleteBooks are definitely better than cupcakes, since they will not rot your teeth. But, having both is so much better.
ReplyDeleteHappy Blog-Birthday!
Happy happy birthday!:) books are definitely better than cupacakes;)
ReplyDeleteOf course books are better than cupcakes! But together they complement each other so very well. ;) Happy 4th, and thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteThat's a tough one, but yes, books are better than cupcakes! Here's to many more years of Mundie Moms!
ReplyDeleteBooks are definitely better than cupcakes! Happy 4th birthday and thank you for the great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteBooks are way better
ReplyDeleteHappy 4th birthday!!
ReplyDeleteBook are better than Cupcakes!!
Thanks for all you do!!
Books over cupcakes. Both are a great reward, but books are everlasting - cupcakes are a brief delight.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I love cupcakes, books are better then just about everything
ReplyDeleteMmmm...I can't eat books but they're still around once I devour them so I'd have to say that books are better than cupcakes.
ReplyDeleteHappy 4th! Thanks for the amazing giveaway! Books last longer and they don't make my jeans tighter so books get my vote.
ReplyDeleteBooks ARE better than cupcakes... Unless they're chocolate cupcakes with mint frosting Yum! ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUNDIE MOMS! They grow up so fast... ;) Congratulations on all the blogging years!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!
ReplyDeleteHmm...books vs cupcakes....I don't know! I want to say books and cupcakes but I'd just get crumbs all in the book. I'd much prefer cookies (; hehe.
Yes, books are better, I suppose! They don't make you fat! Hehe. Happy blog birthday! <3
ReplyDeleteBooks are so much better. Cupcakes are crumbly, messy and if you eat too many you can get a stomach ache. That will never happen with books.
ReplyDeleteOf course books are better! You don't see cupcakes getting review blogs (btw, Happy Blogaversary -did not spell that properly)! After you eat cupcakes, you tend to feel guilty. But after finishing a book you may feel heart broken but at least not guilt! Thus books are better!
ReplyDeleteI don't know... a super dark chocolate ganache cupcake might beat a book... hmmm my final answer is that i like both cupcakes and books equally... ahaha
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your Blogoversary!!
Oh no. Please don't make me choose. I love them both. :))
ReplyDeleteMay I know if you have idea how much will be the shipping cost of the box of ARCs to send INT?
Why not have both at the same time?!
ReplyDeleteI swear cupcakes are best, but I agree with you. I mean, books open you to a new world, insteas of cupcakes wich make you fatter.
ReplyDeleteBooks are way better then cupcakes.
ReplyDeleteI'd gladly read a good book than eat a cupcake. The joy of reading outweighs any dessert!
ReplyDeleteI'd take a book any day, especially a good one.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday!
Yes, booksare way better than cupcakes :)
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! Thanks for the giveaway!
Book, because they last forever
ReplyDeleteIt all depends on what book are we talking about or what cupcake. If the kind of book we're talking about is a "young adult" one, then yes, books are waaay better. But if the cupcakes are cupcakes made by, well, shops like DC cupcakes then, uhm, I think they're of the same caliber. ;)
ReplyDeleteI agree that books are better than cupcakes because books last longer and give you more tastes to emotions of characters than cupcakes.
ReplyDeleteCertainly!!
ReplyDeleteof course!
ReplyDeleteBooks are definitely better than cupcakes! :D Books are better than just about anything, lol!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the box of books! cant wait to get into them
ReplyDelete
