Clockwork Princess Bus Tour w/ Cassandra Clare: Kepler's Signing 3/23/13

So the weekend of April 23rd was a huge one for Sophie and I. Not only were we asked to introduce Cassie at her Kepler's signing for Clockwork Princess, but it was the first time the two of us had met in person. Sophie & I have talked almost every day for the past 4 yrs and this was the first time we got to meet in person. All I can is, that weekend went by WAY too fast. We had so much fun together. (I miss you Lola). We labeled all of our fun under #mundiemomsshenanigans. It was also the first time the two of us were going to get to do something Cassie related together. I've seen Cassie numerous times, but this time Sophie and I were getting to see her together.

Katie & Angela (from Keplers) at Keplers before the event

A whole different level of fun happened on 4/23 when we headed to Kepler's for Cassie's Clockwork Prince Bus Tour signing. Sophie's been to Kepler's before, but this was my first time, and what a fabulous Indie store. Prior to the event, both Angela from Kepler's and author Heidi Kling, who introduced Sarah Rees Brennan at the signing, had asked Sophie and I if we would love to introduce Cassie. Of course we said YES! We were/are seriously honored to have gotten to do this. This is the result of what we came up with:

We really had a blast. What's missing from the video was our getting the crowd all amped up by asking who was Team Jem, Team Will, Team Tessa and Team Magnus, before our started . I think Team WILL and of course Team Magnus won. ;)

Here's a pic of the lovely crowd of over 400 who came out to the event (sorry I tried to get everyone into the shot, but the room was too big to do so). This crowd ROCKED!!!

But, BEFORE the Fun Started at the Signing, we were doing this:
Sophie, Heidi Kling, myself

We met up for a bite to eat and went over everything so we were prepared prior to the signing. We of course had a little fun playing around. Plus, I FINALLY met Heidi Kling!! She our new BFF. We had a blast with her. ;)

THE TOUR BUS
I have never see such an awesome looking tour bus. Here's a shot of what it looks like:

Sophie & I and the tour bus. Yes, we had to get our tour bus pictures.
(there's a little inside joke into why we are taking our own shot here. Plus we had to get Jace in the picture with us.) ;)

Yes I had to have this picture of Jace, because it mentions the TMI Movie *coughs*

Sophie & I couldn't get too many pictures in front of the bus.

On The Bus:
Cassie & I on the tour bus. This bus was seriously the coolest thing ever. We had a lot of fun visiting and hanging out on it before the signing.

Below: 1) Myself with Kirsten and Donna from Eve's Fan Garden
2) Cassie, Heidi Kling, me on the bus.
3) Love this picture of Sophie, myself, Cassie and Sarah after the signing
4) my favorite picture of Sophie & I in front of the back of the bus.

The Signing / Cassie's Q&A
No joke, my phone literally died right after I tweeted where Will's Dragon tattoo is at. Luckily Sophie covered for me and tweeted most all of Cassie's Q&A, or what we could get posted.

After the introductions, Cassie and Sarah handed out Hebel Design gifts to those who asked questions.
You can follow all of this night's signing details here
Let's start with the most important question from the night and the answer:

* Will's DRAGON tattoo is on his BUTTCHULAR area! Yes, Sarah Rees Brennan created a new word. ;) Confirmation from Cassie-it's on his rear end.

* The Infernal Devices idea came to Cassie when she was in London and visited Black Friars Bridge. That scene at the end of Clockwork Princess in the epilogue ;) (you guys know the one).

* Will is based on Sidney Carlton and Jem is based on Keats (from Bright Star)

* SIMON fans, there will be a lot of shirtless Simon in CoFH!

* Cassie doesn't want any of her characters because she "puts them through the wringer"

* The book is holding on the cover of Clockwork Princess is the Shadowhunters Codex!

* Cassies uses character playlists when writing specific characters.

* Cassie is interested in writing a series featuring the kinds of the ID characters. James HERONDALE! (the very one Sarah and Cassie have been mentioning in their Bane Chronicle teasers this past week)

* Tessa is a favorite name of Cassie's and there is a reason why her name is similar to Clary's.

* Cassie would be Luna if she could choose any character from Harry Potter

* The idea for demon pox came when Cassie read Victorian novels for ID research. It was based on animal pox & syphilis.

* Tessa is wearing white (Shadowhunter color for mourning) in City of Glass. And yes, she is mourning for someone else.

Check out these awesome Shadowhunter fans:
It was so much fun meeting so many fans, and friends whom I talk with or have talked to for a few years now via our websites and blogs at Cassie's signing. *waves HI to all* We also meet a few new friends and found some amazing fan made art. Check out what these fans made (pictures used with their permission).
Demon Pox shirts! Will would be so proud.

These are the coolest pants ever! RUNE pants! I totally want to get a pair.

Sarah Rees Brennan and I having fun in the Greenroom after the signing.

What an amazing signing!! THANK YOU so much to Cassie and Sarah for an unforgettable night. It's always so much fun seeing you guys.

THANK YOU to Angela/Keplers and Heidi Kling for an amazing event! Angela, you guys ROCK!!! I can't wait to make it out to Kepler's again.

Malinda Lo- It was so great seeing you again!

Sophie- THANK YOU for everything! ;)

Sybella arrives at the convent’s doorstep half mad with grief and despair. Those that serve Death are only too happy to offer her refuge—but at a price. Naturally skilled in both the arts of death and seduction, the convent views Sybella as one of their most dangerous weapons.

But those assassin’s skills are little comfort when the convent returns her to a life that nearly drove her mad. Her father’s rage and brutality are terrifying, and her brother’s love is equally monstrous. And while Sybella is a weapon of justice wrought by the god of Death himself, He must give her a reason to live. When she discovers an unexpected ally imprisoned in the dungeons, will a daughter of Death find something other than vengeance to live for?

This heart-pounding sequel to Grave Mercy serves betrayal, treachery, and danger in equal measure, bringing readers back to fifteenth century Brittany and will keep them on the edge of their seats.

A dark, and enticing story, Dark Triumph is the perfect companion to Grave Mercy. This sequel is full of treachery, suspense, dangerous secrets, and plenty of action. This story isn't just fueled by it's danger, but also it's hope. Picking up right where one of my all time favorite books, Grave Mercy, left off, we are thrust right back into this exciting, dangerous world that Robin has so cleverly crafted together.

I don't know what it is about this series that makes me love it the way I do. Okay really I do know. What's not to love about this classic time period, fierce female characters, the romance, and incredibly dangerous and exciting world that Robin's created? What I meant was there is something about Robin's writing that enchants me, and always leaves me wanting more from this series. Like Grave Mercy, I didn't want Dark Triumph to end. Even though Robin ended both stories on what I felt were perfect notes for each book, I wanted more. More storyline, more romance, more from the characters, more everything. I love it when an author makes me not only fall in love with the world they've created, the characters they've brought to the life, and the story they tell, they make me fall in love with their writing as well. Robin has done just that.

I have patiently waited to read Sybella's story ever since I fell madly in love with Ismae and Duval's story in Grave Mercy. Really it was Ismae's story, but we all know the Duval played such a huge part in her story, and I loved seeing the two of them in Sybella's story too. In reading Grave Mercy I thought Ismae had a horrible upbringing, but nothing compares to her best friend's one. Truly neither story can be compared, and much like Ismae, Sybella is a survivor and a fighter. She is a heroine, and just as much as a warrior as any of the men in this story are. She's strong, fierce, protective, and something more. She's a character I desperately wanted to reach through the pages and hug, and tell her I'm sorry she had to endure all she did. But Sybella isn't a character who sits back and cries about all the things that have been done to her. Instead she's someone who uses that for the better, and channels that to give her the strength to do the impossible.

Sybella's story isn't a pretty one. It's mortifying, cringe worthy, and horrifying, and yet Sybella is someone who doesn't let what has happened during her horrible upbringing define her. She's cunning, witty, and has learned to rely on herself to survive. Enter Beast, a well known solider who has every right to be feared. He has after all earned that name for a reason. Though I didn't love Beast the way I do Duval, I still really enjoyed getting to know him, and I loved what he and Sybella develop. Most importantly, I love what he does for Sybella. His accepting of her without question was the thing that had me sighing. Yes I'll admit it, I'm a romantic at heart.

Beast and Sybella's relationship is one that is forged by dark secrets, twists, shocking truths, unspeakable pain, and a purpose. Through that purpose they both slowly break down the walls they've both had up. I loved that the more they learned to trust and reply on each other, the more they slowly opened up to one another. Through that I seriously loved that they were so accepting of each other, and wanted to do everything in their power to fix the grief and anguish the other has dwelt with. These two characters couldn't have been more perfect for each other, much like Duval and Ismae are for each other.

Though Grave Mercy is still my favorite out of this trilogy so far, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Dark Triumph lived up to all my acceptation's, and then some. Robin gave me more than I had hoped for in this book. I would highly recommend picking it up if you loved Grave Mercy! Now I'll go re-read Grave Mercy, followed by Dark Triumph to prepare myself for what's to come in book 3.

The Mortal Instruments Movie Monday #17: What Do you Want to See In The TMI Theatrical Movie Trailer?

Welcome to this week's edition of The Mortal Instruments Movie Monday. Today's topic of discussion, the new TMI movie theatrical trailer Sony pictures is releasing today on iTunes. There is so much buzz surrounding this MUST SEE trailer! I know it was revealed at WonderCon this weekend, and that there have already been screen shots circulating the TMI fandom, which only adds more excitement to the trailer reveal.

What scenes are you hoping to see on this trailer?

I'm dying to see MORE MAGNUS!

And the GREEN HOUSE scene..... (nothing beats soggy cheese sandwiches and that sweet first kiss)

Based on the movie stills that Cassie recently revealed (above), I'm thinking we'll get a glimpse at both. Seriously, I CAN NOT WAIT for August 23rd!!!! I swear it's going to be here before we know it.

Mundane Monday #179

Happy Mundane Monday!

*artwork by Walkingnorth, found here*

Today's Mundane Monday is a quote from Clockwork Princess. Usually I post longer quotes, but this one, "Don't say you're sorry. Say you'll train with me.", is a simple yet powerful quote. There is so much more to Will & Jem's relationship than we've had the pleasure of seeing in Clockwork Angel and Clockwork Prince. I loved seeing the depth of Will and Jem's relationship/bond in Clockwork Princess. I felt we got to see just how much these two revolve around each other, what they truly mean to each other, and how much the really depend on each other in this book, than any other in the Infernal Devices series. This quote really does say it all. Jem has always needed Will, as much as Will needed him, and I loved how Cassie showed that in Clockwork Princess.

TMI Theatrical Trailer to Premiere In A Few Short Hours

The @MortalMovie theatrical movie trailer count down began a mere 6 days ago and has looked a little something like this:

It's hard to believe that in a few short really long hours from now (okay not that long, but when you're impatient it seems like an eternity), Sony Pictures will be revealing the TMI theatrical movie trailer on iTunes! No time has been announced yet on when that will happen, but we do know that it will be sometime today, April 1st. Trust us, this isn't an April Fool's Day joke. However, this may be a really long night as I'm sure I'll be hitting refresh a few too many times just in case the trailer gets released during the middle of the night. *crosses fingers*
