LADY RENEGADES by Rachel Hawkins / Blog Tour: Author Interview

Hello and welcome to the first stop in the LADY RENEGADES blog tour! I'm so thrilled to have author Rachel Hawkins on the blog today to talk about her newest release, and the final book in her Rebel Belle series. Before I share my interview with her, here's a little bit her book.

Just as Harper Price starts coming to terms with her role as David Stark's battle-ready Paladin, protector, and girlfriend—her world goes crazy all over again.

Overwhelmed by his Oracle powers, David flees Pine Grove and starts turning teenaged girls into Paladins—and these young ladies seem to think that Harper is the enemy David needs protecting from.  Ordinarily, Harper would be able to fight off any Paladin who comes her way, but her powers have been dwindling since David left town, which means her life is on the line yet again.

Now, it’s a desperate race for Harper to find and rescue David before she backslides from superhero to your garden-variety type-A belle.

New York Times bestselling author Rachel Hawkins brings the fun once again in the finale of this pitch-perfect romantic paranormal comedy series.

AUTHOR INTERVIEW

  1. You know us, and you know we have to ask, how many kissy scenes can we except in Lady Renegades?
Ahhhh you know, this was a hard one for Kissy Scenes because Harper spends most of the book trying to FIND David. But I couldn't go without ANY kissing, naturally, so there may be some Kissing Flashbacks happening. ;)

  1. I love the way you combine comedy, romance and paranormal in your series. What has been your favorite element to write and what has been your hardest?
I love the comedy and the romance, and definitely struggle with the paranormal at times (SO MANY RULES! WHO MADE THESE UP?? Oh, right, me.)

  1. Harper is one fantastic character to get to know. I love that she's a Southern Belle, who can easily defend herself. Over the course of the series, what's something you have come to admire about her? Has she done anything to surprise you?
Harper's dedication is one of the things I admire the most about her. She's much more disciplined than I am, that's for sure, and she tends to think of the bigger picture, which is a fun mindset to get into. She's never really surprised me because I CONTROL ALL, but I think how much FUN she was to write surprised me.

  1. What was one of our favorite scenes to right in Lady Renegades? We know you can't say specifics due to spoilers, but can you tell what chapter it's in?
There's a conversation Blythe and Harper have by a pool that was such a good time to write, and any time those two get to attempt to bond, I was having fun.

  1. Do you have a favorite line from Lady Renegades that you can share with us?
My favorite line is actually just one word: "Hella."

  1. Looking back over the series, what was one of our favorite Harper/David moments?
Oh, that first kiss the night of Cotillion, for sure!

  1. Your covers for the series are fantastic! I think this book's cover is my favorite. Do you have a favorite cover?
Thank you! Theresa Evangelista designed them, and she is a GENIUS. I've really loved them all, but I'm going to go with Rebel Belle as my fave, just because it was the first, and really showed me that yes, everyone GOT the series.

  1. If you were able to incorporate one of your favorite fictional characters (they can be from a book, movie etc), into your story, who would it be and why?
Jon Snow. Harper could use the help (he's good with a sword!), and Jon could use a pep talk or 5, which Harper would be more than happy to provide.

  1. I heard you guys had a great Penguin Teen Book Tour. What's one of your favorite things about being on the road for a book tour?

We did! I think the best thing about tour is both getting to be with other writers, and finally meeting readers. Writing can be so solitary so much of the time, so getting to be a social person is fun!

THANK YOU to Rachel for stopping by Mundie Moms today and to Penguin Teen for hosting the blog tour! If you haven't already, go pick up this series!
