From #1 New York Times bestselling author Kami Garcia, a contemporary romance full of loss, love and redemption…
Seventeen year-old Frankie Devereux would do anything to forget the past. Haunted by the memory of her boyfriend’s death, she lives her life by one dangerous rule: nothing matters. At least, that’s what Frankie tells herself after a reckless mistake forces her to leave her privileged life in the Heights to move in with her dad―an undercover cop. She transfers to public school in the Downs, where fistfights in the halls don’t faze anyone and illegal street racing is more popular than football.

Marco Leone is the fastest street racer in the Downs. Tough, sexy, and hypnotic, he makes it impossible for Frankie to ignore him . . . and how he makes her feel. But the risks Marco takes for his family could have devastating consequences for them both. When Frankie discovers his secret, she has to make a choice. Will she let the pain of the past determine her future? Or will she risk what little she has left to follow her heart?

Your own heart will race with each page turn of this heart-stopping star-crossed love story.

A thrilling, fast paced, action packed read. The Lovely Reckless wrecked me, and in a good way. I still haven't recovered from it. My emotions were all over the place. Garcia had my adrenaline rushing, my heart pounding, and she effortlessly made me fall in love with two incredible characters. I was not excepting to be so addicted to this book, it's characters, and all that happens in this story.

The Lovely Reckless was not what I was excepting it to be, and I loved it. This book was full of surprises. I loved every moment I spent reading it. I'm not a huge contemporary fan, but similar to what I love about Katie McGarry's realistic contemporary books, Kami Garcia gave me in this book. I love how realistic Garcia's characters are written. She made me understand them, their decisions, and sympathize with the choices they made. My word I couldn't read this book fast enough to find out what happens between Marco and Frankie, and their friends. It's been awhile since I really yearned for everything to work out between two characters, even when the odds are stacked against them.

Marco and Frankie are something special. These two just fit together. They have a relationship that made sense, even if it didn't make sense to them, and a chemistry that ignites the pages. They also saw each other for who they really were. No pretending, no hiding from their pasts. Just the here and now, and hopefully a future together. Together, they give each other strength, a need to want to be better, and hope. I loved how they made each other stronger. More importantly, I love how these two learned to save themselves, while saving each other. These two have very similar strengths and weaknesses. They will do anything for those they love, even if that means they do so with little regard for what's at stake for themselves.

All the book feels to this book! I rarely fall in love with contemporary, but my word, when I do, I want to shout to all the readers in a bookstore than they need to pick up this book. Garcia created realistic characters who needed a voice, and allowed me to love them for who each of them was. It didn't matter what side of the town they lived on, or what their upbringing was like. Garcia didn't just tell Frankie and Marco's story, she made me feel as though I was actually watching their story come to life.
I felt every range of emotion in this book, and fell in love with not just Frankie and Marco, but those characters who are apart of their lives as well.

Garcia has found her niche in writing! The Lovely Reckless is my new favorite Kami Garcia book. This book is her best book yet. I love the realistic, gritty way Garcia wrote this story. I love the diversity of it, the realism of it, and I loved being apart of Frankie and Marco's journey. What's not to love about a book that has street racing, romance, and an element to danger to it? Trust me, this book is so much more than that. What a thrill ride of a read! I look forward to reading more stories like from Garcia.

*There is some language, violence and a sensual scene, which may not be suitable for younger readers.
