“I know how to watch my back. I’m the only one that ever has.”

India Maxwell hasn’t just moved across the country—she’s plummeted to the bottom rung of the social ladder. It’s taken years to cover the mess of her home life with a veneer of popularity. Now she’s living in one of Boston’s wealthiest neighborhoods with her mom’s fiancĂ© and his daughter, Eloise. Thanks to her soon-to-be stepsister’s clique of friends, including Eloise’s gorgeous, arrogant boyfriend Finn, India feels like the one thing she hoped never to be seen as again: trash.

But India’s not alone in struggling to control the secrets of her past. Eloise and Finn, the school’s golden couple, aren’t all they seem to be. In fact, everyone’s life is infinitely more complex than it first appears. And as India grows closer to Finn and befriends Eloise, threatening the facades that hold them together, what’s left are truths that are brutal, beautiful, and big enough to change them forever…

CHARACTER INTERVIEW w/ FINN

Welcome Finn. How would you describe yourself to our readers in 5 words or less?
Hey. I would describe myself as a person who is uncomfortable with describing himself. Sorry that was more than five words.
What's something you admire the most with both India and Eloise?
Their loyalty. I can count on them like I can’t count on anybody else.
Looking back at the beginning of the book to the end, how would you say you've changed the most?
Ah, I thought you were going to ask me about school or sports first or I don’t know, something easy. Man, okay. I would say I have a little more faith in people than I used to.
If you don't mind, I have some speed round of questions for readers to get to know you more.
Favorite thing to do on your down time?
I’ll go with the PG13 answer. Photography. I like just hanging out some place and seeing if I can capture a moment with my camera that speaks to people.
haha Good answer. What's one item you can't live without?
My camera.
Favorite article of clothing?
A ratty Led Zeppelin T-shirt that belonged to my mom. It fit me as a kid but… I just keep it now, you know.
What's your favorite food?
Pizza.
Favorite sport
I’m the Stroke on a rowing team.
Who's your favorite sports team?
I’m from Massachusetts. It’s practically illegal to say anything other than the Red Sox, the Bruins, the Patriots and the Celtics. Out of all of those I’m more of a Bruins fan.
First thing you notice about a girl?
Her eyes.
What's your fav subject in school?
This year I really started to like Modern European History. The girl in the seat next to me might have had something to do with that though.
I'm sure she had your undivided attention too. Subject you hate the most?
Microeconomics is a little boring.
What college would you like to go to?
Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
What's a pet peeve you have?
People bitching and gossiping.
Are you an early rise or night owl?
Night owl definitely.
Favorite car/truck?
My Aston Martin DB9 Volante.
Where do you see yourself in the next couple of years?
Art school with my girl, doing what we want, being who we want to be. Finally.
What's your secret indulgence?
Chocolate chip pancakes.
Just for fun, what Harry Potter house would you be sorted into?
Man, Eloise made me see the entire franchise a million times. I’ll say Hufflepuff because she also made me take this online test to see if we’d be sorted into the same house. We were. She loved that.
