Who's ready for this year's Romance Times's TEEN DAY? It's just around the corner.... next week! Every year RT has an amazing line up on YA authors. Geared towards teens, and open to everyone, Teen Day is the chance for YA readers to attend panels with their favorite YA authors, as well as a signing, and so much more. Find out more about this year's RT Teen Day line up, here and follow them on Facebook, here

Thank you to RT Teen Day, I'm thrilled to share an interview with one of this year's YA authors, Nicole Castroman

Why are you excited to attend RT Teen Day?

I'm excited to for RT Teen day because it's my first time attending one. And my favorite part of my job is connecting with readers, especially teens!

Who doesn't love a good romance? Whether it's the driving force of the story or snuck off to the side, I'm always up for it! What appeals to you about including romance in your stories?

I love romance in stories. OTPs are what can make or break a book for me. Can't put my finger on why, exactly. Oh, but I have to say for me, I like a slow burn in romance. Give me some tension between two characters and I'm hooked. :)

What are some of your favorite romance tropes? For example, I love the enemies to lovers trope!

I LOVE the enemies to lovers trope. It's possibly my all time favorite. Another one I enjoy is where they have a shared history. Second chances make me swoon, especially if the backstory and interaction between the two characters is well-developed.

Who are some of your all time favorite fictional couples? Books, movies, comics... whatever!

Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy is my favorite couple. Scarlett and Rhett. Sarah Prine and Jack Elliot from These Is My Words, even though that ending killed me. Growing up, I loved watching Wonder Woman, so Diana Prince and Steve Trevor were another favorite. Oh, Han Solo and Princess Leia. There are so many great OTPs in fiction. Romance FTW!

Obviously I think Young Adult books are simply incredible. I love the variety and the quality. What's you're favorite part of being an author of young adult books?

I love meeting teens! Especially because I have two teens. :) They're at such an important part of their lives, where their decisions really start to have an impact on who they will become and what they'll achieve.

And I love to hear from teen readers who connect with my books. One time I received an email from a girl who had faked being sick so she could stay home from school to read BLACKHEARTS. I'm not gonna lie, I loved that. :)

If you could spend a day inside the world of any book, which would you choose and why?

If I could spend a day in the life of any book, it would have to be Harry Potter. I teared up when I first went to Universal in Orlando and walked into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. What she created is amazing and I'd like to spend some quality time at Hogwarts.

What have you been reading or recommending lately?

I just read Valiant by Lesley Livingston and really enjoyed it!

      ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Nicole was lucky enough to come with her very own best friend...she has a twin sister who can read her mind and finish her sentences for her.
