In a land ruled and shaped by violent magical storms, power lies with those who control them.

Aurora Pavan comes from one of the oldest Stormling families in existence. Long ago, the ungifted pledged fealty and service to her family in exchange for safe haven, and a kingdom was carved out from the wildlands and sustained by magic capable of repelling the world’s deadliest foes. As the sole heir of Pavan, Aurora's been groomed to be the perfect queen. But she’s yet to show any trace of the magic she’ll need to protect her people.

To keep her secret and save her crown, Aurora’s mother arranges for her to marry a dark and brooding Stormling prince from another kingdom. At first, the prince seems like the perfect solution to all her problems. He’ll guarantee her spot as the next queen and be the champion her people need to remain safe. But the more secrets Aurora uncovers about him, the more a future with him frightens her. When she dons a disguise and sneaks out of the palace one night to spy on him, she stumbles upon a black market dealing in the very thing she lacks—storm magic. And the people selling it? They’re not Stormlings. They’re storm hunters.

Legend says that her ancestors first gained their magic by facing a storm and stealing part of its essence. And when a handsome young storm hunter reveals he was born without magic, but possesses it now, Aurora realizes there’s a third option for her future besides ruin or marriage.
She might not have magic now, but she can steal it if she’s brave enough.

Challenge a tempest. Survive it. And you become its master.

RT TEEN DAY Author Interview: Wendy Higgins #RTTeenDay

Who's ready for this year's Romance Times's TEEN DAY? It's THIS weekend (TOMORROW)! Every year RT has an amazing line up on YA authors. Geared towards teens, and open to everyone, Teen Day is the chance for YA readers to attend panels with their favorite YA authors, as well as a signing, and so much more. Find out more about this year's RT Teen Day line up, here and follow them on Facebook, here

Thank you to RT Teen Day, I'm thrilled to share an interview with one of this year's YA authors, Wendy Higgins

Why are you excited to attend RT Teen Day?

Because TEENS!! Honestly, young adults are the most passionate people on Earth. Last year I left RT Teen Day feeling energized and excited to write more because of the interactions I had with wonderful teen readers.

Who doesn't love a good romance? Whether it's the driving force of the story or snuck off to the side, I'm always up for it! What appeals to you about including romance in your stories?

I've never written a story without a romantic thread, the more tension, the better! There's something so wonderful about that "new love" feeling, along with all of the craziness that leads up to it, and I adore experiencing that with my characters.

What are some of your favorite romance tropes? For example, I love the enemies to lovers trope!

I'm a sucker for the 'bad boy turns good for the right girl' trope. But he still has to be a little bad... ;)

Who are some of your all time favorite fictional couples? Books, movies, comics... whatever!

Katy & Daemon from the Lux series, and Echo & Noah from Pushing the Limits!

Obviously I think Young Adult books are simply incredible. I love the variety and the quality. What's your favorite part of being an author of young adult books?

I remember my teen years so vividly, as if everything that happened was magnified. There is something so pivotal about those years between childhood and adulthood. That taste of independence. Innocence mixed with new experiences. Love, friendships, heartbreaks. It's all so huge at the time, so important. I want to capture those things.

If you could spend a day inside the world of any book, which would you choose and why?

Harry Potter. I know it's not YA, per se, but the magical feel of that world is like none other. I SO BADLY want to be a part of the wizarding community! Being a muggle sucks.

What have you been reading or recommending lately?

I highly recommend The Last Magician by Lisa Maxwell, and Roar by Cora Carmack, both of which come out this summer! Reading early copies of books is the best job perk ever. I do not take it for granted, friends.
