Happy Friday! I am so thrilled to team up NOVL to host a giveaway for Holly Black's newest release, THE CRUEL PRINCE. This book has received rave reviews. We might have freaked out a bit that the Queen of Fae finally treated us to another fantastic, must read Holly Black Faerie book. No one writes a fae story like Holly does. We love her writing.
One of the things we love about Holly's writing, is her ability to make sure we understand her villains, even if they're just plain evil. There's always a small part of us that understands why they are the way they are. That's not to say we excuse these character's actions, because some of them are just plain, well, evil. I imagine we can insert an evil Holly Black laugh over that comment.
Since we're talking about fae, one of my favorite villains, and one that I always felt was mis-understood, is Maleficent. As a kid being a fan of the Disney version of Sleeping Beauty, she scared me when she turned into a dragon. Now, I just think it's awesome. What's not cool about getting really peeved, and turning into a dragon... Aside from getting peeved and shape shifting, I always felt there was something about her story I wanted to know more about. I enjoyed the Maleficent movie, because I knew there was more to her story, and we finally got it.
We want to know, who's your favorite villain? This can be from a book, movie, T.V. shows etc. Your comment also earns you an additional entry for our giveaway! Thank you to the NOVL, our giveaway is for an amazing CRUEL PRINCE prize pack, which you'll see pictured below. Before you enter to win, here's a little bit more about the book.

By #1 New York Times bestselling author Holly Black, the first book in a stunning new series about a mortal girl who finds herself caught in a web of royal faerie intrigue.
Of course I want to be like them. They're beautiful as blades forged in some divine fire. They will live forever.
And Cardan is even more beautiful than the rest. I hate him more than all the others. I hate him so much that sometimes when I look at him, I can hardly breathe.
Jude was seven years old when her parents were murdered and she and her two sisters were stolen away to live in the treacherous High Court of Faerie. Ten years later, Jude wants nothing more than to belong there, despite her mortality. But many of the fey despise humans. Especially PrinceCardan, the youngest and wickedest son of the High King.
To win a place at the Court, she must defy him—and face the consequences.
In doing so, she becomes embroiled in palace intrigues and deceptions, discovering her own capacity for bloodshed. But as civil war threatens to drown the Courts of Faerie in violence, Jude will need to risk her life in a dangerous alliance to save her sisters, and Faerie itself.

Heath Ledger's Joker is the greatest villain to me. He inspired the chaotic terror that the Joker is supposed to embody. The Dark Knight remains one of my favorite movies of all time, and a large part of the reason is the great villain.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite villain is Loki in the Marvel universe.
ReplyDeleteSnape is my favorite fictional villian.
ReplyDeleteI am re-watching Young Justice season 2, and Deathstroke is just so bad*ss. He is one of my favorite villains.
ReplyDeleteThe Joker
ReplyDeleteThe Darkling from the Grisha trilogy reminds one of my favorite villains!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite villain is perhaps a bit abstract but the prejudices between species in Sarah Rees Brennan's In Other Lands. It mirrors our universe but does it in a way that makes you think rather than feeling antagonised.
ReplyDeleteCercei from Game Of Thrones. I don't think I've ever loathed and loved a character so much. LOL
ReplyDeleteno fav
ReplyDelete"We want to know, who's your favorite fictional villain? It can be from a book, TV show, movie etc." Who doesn't love Ebenezer Scrooge?
ReplyDeleteI would have to say Harley Quinn! Thank you
ReplyDeleteI think Loki. He's naughty and fun.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite fictional villain is Voldemort.
ReplyDeleteI would say Gaston from Beauty and the Beast. (jozywails@gmail.com)

ReplyDeleteMaleficent
ReplyDeleteCaptain Hook
ReplyDeleteThis is an awesome giveaway! Hmmm, favorite villain... I liked the Darkling in S&B, but not really in the rest of the series. Does that count? Thanks for the giveaway, Katie!

Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
My favorite villain is Lucifer from Supernatural. I love him even when he's bad.
ReplyDeleteRumpetstiltskin is one of my all-time favorites!
ReplyDeleteI also really like Maleficent - she's so sassy, lol!
I was going to say Cersei from Game of Thrones, but someone above said Jareth, and I totally am all for that!
ReplyDeleteI looove Adelina from Marie Lu's The Young Elites!
ReplyDeleteBased on the fact that I wrote a chapter of an origin story about her for a class, I have to go with the Sea Witch from The Little Mermaid.
ReplyDeleteI love Yzma from Emperor's New Groove. She is hilarious and her attempts at being bad are just as funny.
ReplyDeleteI love Tom Riddle aka Voldemort as a villain because during his journey to become the darkest wizard ever, he was charming, ambitious & cunning so that’s why he can influence all the purebloods to do his bidding 🤗
ReplyDeleteUmmm, favorite Gillian?....I would have to go with Darth Vader.
ReplyDeleteMaleficent has always been my favorite. I don't know exactly what it is about her, but she's the first one I always think of!
ReplyDeleteAwesome promo post lovely :D I have yet to read this book, but I have it, and I am so excited :D Really hoping to love it lots. <3
