FROM TWINKLE, WITH LOVE by Sandhya Menon / Book Review #ToTwinkleWithLove

By: Sandhya Menon
Published by: Simon Pulse
Released on: May 22nd, 2018
Purchase from: Amazon | B&N
Add it to Goodreads
Rating: 4 Stars
Source: e-book from publisher in exchange for my honest review

Aspiring filmmaker and wallflower Twinkle Mehra has stories she wants to tell and universes she wants to explore, if only the world would listen. So when fellow film geek Sahil Roy approaches her to direct a movie for the upcoming Summer Festival, Twinkle is all over it. The chance to publicly showcase her voice as a director? Dream come true. The fact that it gets her closer to her longtime crush, Neil Roy—a.k.a. Sahil’s twin brother? Dream come true x 2.

When mystery man “N” begins emailing her, Twinkle is sure it’s Neil, finally ready to begin their happily-ever-after. The only slightly inconvenient problem is that, in the course of movie-making, she’s fallen madly in love with the irresistibly adorkable Sahil.

Twinkle soon realizes that resistance is futile: The romance she’s got is not the one she’s scripted. But will it be enough?

Told through the letters Twinkle writes to her favorite female filmmakers, From Twinkle, with Love navigates big truths about friendship, family, and the unexpected places love can find you.

A charming, incredibly fun read! Sandhya Menon's books are ones I know I'm absolutely going to enjoy when I picked them up. This book did everything I knew it would. It made me laugh, sigh, and absolutely fall in love with two characters who I wanted everything to work out just right for them, especially Twinkle.

Twinkle is one of those characters you want to be friends with. There's something about her that I found so enduring, and extremely easy to like. Maybe it's the fact her journal entries are to her favorite female film makers, or maybe it's that Twinkle's story is one that really examines what it means to grow up, and find your place in the world, and chasing your dreams. Twinkle's story explores the ups and downs of growing up, finding your place in the world, the relationships you have (both within your family, and friendships), and of course there's also the possibly falling in love for the first time. This story is about all that, and I loved the way Twinkle brought all her experiences, and her feelings to life in this book. It was easy to relate to her, and to cheer her on.

This is definitely another Menon book worth picking up! I absolutely adore the way she writes her characters, their romance, and the mishaps that happen along the way. Menon's characters and their stories are ones I adore. I highly recommend picking up both this book, and Menon's debut, When Dimple Met Rishi.

Snippet from THE WICKED ONES by Cassandra Clare & Robin Wasserman #GOTSM #Shadowhunters #MundaneMonday

Last week Cassie gave us a sneak peak of the cover of THE WICKED ONES featuring Celine, Jace's mom, here. Now she's given us a snippet from Celine's story. Shared here, above is what Cassie shared, along with this:

Ready to meet Jace’s mom,? She just might surprise you. Coming in September: The Wicked Ones, Part Six of Ghosts of the Shadow Market by me and Robin Wasserman. #gotsm #two #tsc

The Wicked Ones is the 6th installment in the Ghosts of Shadow Market, and will be out on September 11, 2018.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Celine Montclaire goes to the Shadow Market to escape. She would go anywhere in Paris, or the entire world, to escape the suffering she experiences at the hands of her family. She did not expect to meet Valentine Morgenstern there, or to have him promise her freedom and the heart of the man she secretly loves. On one condition, of course. At the Shadow Market, nothing is for free.

. @CassieClare Shares New Unidentified Snippet Featuring Magnus #Shadowhunters

Cassie Clare has shared a new unidentified snippet here on Tumblr. This snippet features Magnus. Any guesses as to what book it's from?

Unidentified snippet

It was late, and someone was trying to break into the High Warlock of Brooklyn’s apartment.
Magnus Bane, the High Warlock in question, felt this behavior was rash and foolish. He’d been passed out on his still-made bed, too exhausted to slip under the burgundy and emerald sheets, or even take off his robe, when he heard the noise of his window sliding open. He was grateful for the robe. He felt it would be demoralizing to face housebreakers in nothing but silk pajama bottoms.
Also, the housebreakers had done nothing to deserve such a sight.

I've included more information about each book below, as well as my review for both.

The official miscellany, celebrating 50 years of Doctor Who.

Do you know your Sontarans from your Silurians? What are the 40 best ways to defeat a Dalek? What are the galactic coordinates of Gallifrey? Test your knowledge of the last Time Lord and the worlds he's visited in Who-ology, an unforgettable journey through 50 years of Doctor Who. Packed with facts, figures and stories from the show's entire run, this unique tour of space and time takes you from Totters Lane to Trenzalore, taking in guides to UNIT call signs, details of the inner workings of sonic screwdrivers, and a reliability chart covering every element of the TARDIS. With tables, charts and illustrations dotted throughout, as well as fascinating lists and exhaustive detail, you won't believe the wonders that await. Are you ready? Then read on, you clever boy. And remember.

Everything you wanted to know about Doctor Who is answered in this book! WHO-OLOGY: The Official Miscellany celebrates over 55 years of Doctor Who. That includes the 12th Doctor's final episode. Though we still may be in denial over it really being over. This must have book includes fun facts, time lines, charts, lists, a lot of in-depth details, and also features illustrations through the book. Essentially all of the questions we've had, are answered in this book.

I loved the fascinating details about the Doctor Who world. This book is chalk full of everything you wanted to know about Doctor Who, and than some. My favorite is the timeline and details of Doctor Who that starts from the very beginning and ends at the very end of the series run. Also included in the book that I found fascinating; the appendix of the story lists, the list of the various doctors who have played Doctor Who, the Tardis library, numerous facts about the characters (good and bad), details about the universe, and so much more.

If you're a Doctor Who fan, you'll want to pick up this book. It's almost as good as if you could step into the Tardis and go back to when it all started.... almost. This book is definitely worth adding to your Doctor Who collection.
