From New York Times bestselling author Susan Dennard, Sightwitch is an illustrated novella set in the Witchlands and told through Ryber’s journal entries and sketches.

Before Safi and Iseult battled a Bloodwitch...

Before Merik returned from the dead…

Ryber Fortiza was a Sightwitch Sister at a secluded convent, waiting to be called by her goddess into the depths of the mountain. There she would receive the gift of foretelling. But when that call never comes, Ryber finds herself the only Sister without the Sight.

Years pass and Ryber’s misfit pain becomes a dull ache, until one day, Sisters who already possess the Sight are summoned into the mountain, never to return. Soon enough, Ryber is the only Sister left. Now, it is up to her to save her Sisters, though she does not have the Sight—and though she does not know what might await her inside the mountain.

On her journey underground, she encounters a young captain named Kullen Ikray, who has no memory of who he is or how he got there. Together, the two journey ever deeper in search of answers, their road filled with horrors, and what they find at the end of that road will alter the fate of the Witchlands forever.

Set a year before TruthwitchSightwitch is a companion novella that also serves as a set up to Bloodwitch, as well as an expansion of the Witchlands world.

A novella worth reading! Sightwitch thrusts fans of the Witchlands series right back into this intriguing, exciting, and dangerous world. It's a story rich in magic, danger, intrigue, character chemistry, rich world building, in-depth characters, and much more.
Though it's not quite 300 pages, Dennard's writing doesn't lack from emotionally grabbing her readers. This book is one that will leave you aching for Bloodwitch.

I'm not always a big fan of novellas. All too often I feel like they're filler stories that don't always add anything to the series, but that is not the case with Sightwitch. This novella that gives readers a more in-depth look into the history of the Witchlands series, as well as allows readers to get to know both Kullen and Ryber more. I was really surprised at how I felt when this book ended. I already couldn't wait to get my hands on Bloodwitch, but now I really need this book!

I thoroughly enjoyed all the Ryber and Kullen aka "Captain" moments. From their first meeting, to the last scene in this book, I loved these two together. I enjoyed getting to know Ryber more, as well as Kellan. This book is a great set up, leading readers into what Kellan will do in Bloodwitch, and what Ryber's role is in the Witchland series. I also really enjoyed their little comments they have written within this book, to each other. It just adds something more to their relationship, and chemistry.

The world building is incredibly vivid, and so intriguing. I loved being back in the Witchland world. This book gives readers a better understanding of the role of the Sightwitches. Readers already know of the numerous hosts of various witches in this series. The Sightwitches roles are interesting. This book is Ryber's journey of figuring out her role with them, as much as it's a journey of finding where she fits into the Witchlands world over all. Her self discovery is an interesting one. It's one of heartbreak, courage, and clues to help her figure out what she's meant to do.

I really enjoyed the engaging way this book is written. It's a mix of Ryber's memories, journal entries, illustrations, notes, letters, maps, messages from Ryber's sightwitch sisters, clippings, and quotes. This creative blend of storytelling adds a lot of detail and depth to Ryber's story. It help paints a vivid picture for readers. I also felt it gives readers a good back ground into the history of her Sightwitch sisters, as well as the Witchland world, with all the details.

I enjoyed reading this book. It's the perfect bridge between the previous books in this series, and will have you all but begging for Bloodwitch to hurry and be released. This is one novella I would highly recommend reading, especially if you're a fan of the Witchland series. This might be called a novella, but it definitely reads more like a full length book. Not to mention this book's enticing cover. It's definitely worth picking up today!
