Celebrate The Upcoming Release of DANGEROUS DECEPTION by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl | Join The #BooksArentDangerous Campaign

Today I'm thrilled to be apart of the BOOKS AREN'T DANGEROUS campaign. In celebration of Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl's DANGEROUS DECEPTION release coming up on May 19th, they're hosting a campaign to get books into the hands of kids who need books. Instead of doing a traditional blog tour, Kami and Margaret want their fans to join in the fun. All you have to do is post a picture of yourself with a book, tag it #BooksArentDangerous, and pledge to donate a book or books to an under privilege school or library. Kami, Margaret and Little Brown (their publisher) will match donations over the next two weeks! Find out more about this amazing cause below! From Kami and Margaret:

In fact, during the dangerous days of growing up, they can be lifesaving. The right book at the right time can change someone’s life. Writers and readers know that better than anyone.

For Kami, those books came from Tolkein, and Ray Bradbury, and S.E. Hinton. For Margie, those books came from C.S. Lewis, and Susan Cooper, and Madeline L’Engle.

  • What book saved your life?
  • What current read do you wish had been on bookshelves when you were a teen?
  • What book would you recommend to readers that could change their lives?

The Beautiful Creatures Novels have given us so much, in honor of our upcoming May release, we want to give something back. So: Kami and Margie will be donating books to under-resourced school libraries for the next two weeks, culminating in a school visit book delivery.

Our awesome Beautiful Creatures Novels publisher—Little, Brown—has committed to work with us to match every book donation from our friends and our readers, from May 12th to May 26th. (This Tuesday on, for two weeks.)

It’s super easy! Here’s how to participate:

  • During the two weeks of May 12-May 26 (starting this Tuesday) hashtag #BooksArentDangerous & post your photo with a book.
  • The book can be one that mattered to you, one you wish you’d had, or a current read you would recommend.

  • You can post on facebook, instagram, twitter, or tumblr.

  • For every photo you post, Kami & Margie are working with Little Brown to match it with a book donation. (Details TK!)

In addition, we also encourage our author, reader, teacher, librarian, blogger, and bookseller friends to take this opportunity to donate books to underfunded local school libraries. If you do, please post those pics too, and we’ll be reposting at

Thanks, all! XOXO Margie & Kami
